| tell me the truth....what would you do? ok folks...here it is....my husband and I are going to Disneyland without the kids. We have never been to Disneyland. We have always gone to Disneyworld and we have always done the trips with the kids. My question is....do I splurge for the Grand Californian or do I stay at Park Veu Inn or Candy Cane Inn. Let's remember...this is just a place to sleep, but on the other hand...it's a trip without the kids. If this was Disneyworld...The Grand Floridian or Yacht Club would win hands down...but let's face it..it's a different place all together. Please be honest and help me out....We leave next week and I'm still trying to decide. We are going to be there for three nights, but only have two days in the parks. We arrive very late one night....Maybe that first night I'll check into a cheap one and then the other two nights into the Grand Californinan. Let me know folks....decisions...decisions.... I guess I should mention that we will be doing Nappa Valley the few nights before and will be staying at a Bed and Breakfast the night before we arrive at Disneyland. thanks for your help.

| Grand Floridian or Good Neighbor The good neighbor hotels (candy cane is a nice place to sleep) are the same distiance as the "Disney" hotels, GF is in Downtown Disney, but you pay the price diffence. Though without the kids and the time frame you are working with it might be worth the splurge. This past April we considered doing the "Disney" hotel thing, but we are doing WDW - 2/08 plus cruise and decided to save the $$' ($1,000+) |

| Without the Kids, it would be well worth it. The leisurely pace that you get to enjoy the trip makes it very worthwhile. If the Grand Floridian would win hands down then the Grand Californian will not disappoint you.

| I would splurge for the Grand Californian. We're hoping to stay there when we go back in 2008 - we loved the theming of it and it's a very romantic place.

| I would splurge on the Grand Californian. I would much rather wake up there, get up and enjoy the view from the balcony, have a great cup of coffee in The Hearthstone lounge, and they have a leisurely, short walk to the parks. We had a great room that overlooked Rushin River Run. Part of the magic was sitting on the balcony, watching the River come to life with water!

| A friend of mine just tried to book a room in the Candy Cane and it is full for a while allready!! (Maybe try in January??) Sounds like a good time to check out The Grand Californian!! Have fun--and don't forget to see the waterfalls around the Disney Motel at night. I love them.

| DSil and DBil just stayed at Grand Californian, and were absolutely thrilled with it. They said it was amazing, and they're not too easy to impress. (We're all from SoCal, and used to go to Disneyland a lot.) They said it was definitely worth staying there.

| Just got back from DGC Well I'm the party pooper. We just got back from the DGC today and while it IS nice, for the money, I'd do the concierge level across the street at Paradise Pier. It's the same money and you get free drinks, snacks and wine and a few other perks. The drinks at the park run you $2.75 and a piece of fruit is $1.75. The one thing that drove me nuts if you do stay at the DGC - is that they play the piano until 10pm. It's fine if you're not in a room that overlooks the lobby but when you've been up since 4am traveling and you're tired, and you just want to sleep - the piano kept me up. I know, stupid thing but I wish they would have turned off the speaker at least at 9pm. So if you stay there and something like that would bug you, ask for a room not overlooking the lobby. |

| Thansk for the tip, oregon gal. I have decided to book the GCH for my upcoming trip in February (just waiting for some details to be finalized before I book). If I was paying cash, I wouldn't do it, i just could not afford that. I am using DVC points instead. I stayed at VWL about 1 1/2 weeks ago for my birthday and really enjoyed it. I have heard all good reviews about GCH, but I had not heard about the piano player. To the OP, I have stayed at both of the other Disney hotels, and would stay there again, especially at DLH. I have also heard great things about the Candy Cane, but its farther away. For a short stay, I would go stay on property. Have a great time, no matter what you decide!
