Marriot vs Hilton vs Sheraton

We are taking a short trip to Southern California the first of August. None of us have ever been to Disneyland. Our budget does not allow us to stay at the Grand Californian this trip. We are considering #1 Hilton #2 Marriott #3 Sheraton. Can anyone give me any insight into which of these hotels might have the closest feel to a resort? Which has the nicest pool? The Sheraton has the best price but I am afraid it may be somewhat old and rundown? Any help?

I've never been at the Sheraton. At a convention several years ago, I stayed at the Hilton and attended some sessions at the Marriott, which is right across the street from the Hilton. Both the Hilton and Marriott looked very nice, but definitely "corporate" more than "themed" -- the same impression I got from walking through the Swan and Dolphin. The Hilton was about a 10 minute walk from Downtown Disney, so about 15-20 minutes from the park entrances. Some of the rooms have a Disneyland view (although mine didn't).

Good luck with your decision!
Melissa

The Hilton and the Marriott are both more "business" environments as they are right next to the Convention Center. Both are really nice hotels, but I don't know that they feel like resorts. The Sheraton is definitely an older looking hotel, but that's more because that's their theme...kind of like a European cottage feel. I haven't stayed there, but I can tell you that it's on the north side of DLR and not as accessible as the Hilton or Marriott would be (those 2 are on the south, and you could walk across the street and into the Timon parking lot where you could catch the parking tram to the main entrance).

I think I might need to apologize/clarify. I've always thought of the Sheraton as the Sheraton Anaheim, which is north of DL and is the one that looks like a little European village. There's also the Sheraton Park which is to the South of DCA/DLR. I don't recall that as being a Sheraton, but I was at DLR tonight and drove by and saw the Sheraton logo on the building. That one definitely is a hotel style, about 10 or so stories high. Not sure which one you're looking at, Maggie101.

The Sheraton Park was formerly the Coast hotel. We stayed in the Coast some years ago, with a nice park view room. A pleasant, but not outstanding experience. It is a touch closer than the Marriott and Hilton. We haven't visited the Sheraton Park since the change to Sheraton, so I can't say how it is now with any certainty. The Coast was classified as a "Good Neighbor Moderate" hotel, but the Sheraton Park is listed as a "Superior," which suggests they've upgraded facilities in some way. We recently stayed at the Hilton, where the guest rooms have been undergoing rennovation. It's a huge place, comfortable, and the rennovated rooms are very nice. But... when there's a convention in town, the conventioneers overwhelm the facilities and you don't really want to spend time at the hotel (with Disneyland nearby, is that so bad?). The same would be true of the Marriott, I'm sure.
