Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier

I have a conference in Anaheim and the 2 Disney choices for hotels are the Disneyland Hotel and Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel (there are other choices, but they're not Disney so why bother). I know I can't go wrong staying at a Disney hotel, but I'd like to know of any experiences my fellow Passporters have had at either hotel.

I haven't stayed at them, but my choice would be Disneyland Hotel. It's the original, Goofy's Kitchen is there and it's cute. Paradise Pier has always struck me as an after-thought of a hotel (that they converted from another).

I've stayed at the Disneyland hotel a long time ago but just based on looks of the 2 hotels, I would go with the Disneyland hotel

I've only stayed at the Disneyland hotel. We loved it and the room we had was huge with a nice view of the pool. You can't beat the nostalgic factor either.

I have just recently stayed at the DL Hotel twice....April and last week. I would go with the DL just based on location. DL Hotel is more centrally located to Downtown Diseny whereas the Paradise Pier is a further walk. I think you will enjoy the DL Hotel. I have stayed in both Standard View and Theme Park View Rooms. The Standard View was actually great. If I looked out and looked to the right, I can see Disneyland Park and was able to watch the fireworks at night. Good luck with your decision.

thanks for all the great advice. I'll be checking today to see if DL Hotel is still available (my boss said it's completely booked). If it is, I'm there. Everyone else I work with is going with the Hilton and the Marriott because they're closer to the convention center. No one is surprised that I'm going with a Disney option.

The convention center is right around the corner - We've stayed at the Annabella, which is directly next door to the convention center, and walked to the Grand Californian. It's a bit of a walk, but definitely doable. You could also cheat (not sure about mornings, but afternoons) by taking a tram to the parking lot (not the garage, but the one behind DCA - it's either Lion King or Timon, I can't remember), taking the second stop and walking out right at the light to cross Katella into the Convention Center. That is, of course, if the lot is open - it was closed the last time we visited in July.

Otherwise, you can walk down Disney Way, turn left on Katella and it's 1/2 block down on the right.

We've stayed at both DH and PP...we prefer DH. PP isn't a bad hotel, but the theme is California where as the DH theme is Disney (and rightly so)...from the glow in the dark pixie dusted wall borders to the Mickey Mouse glove lamp holders...if you want a hotel with a "Disney" feel, you need to stay at the DH!!

I haven't stayed in either, but my choice would be the original, the classic Disneyland Hotel.
