Quality Inn or Motel 6

This is a trip with my 23 year old DD celebrating BOTH our bdays, though because of work schedules we had to choose mine. (Same day one month apart and YEARS between us). Anyway, this must be a bargain trip and we've stay in 'economy" places before.

Which is nicer? And can you favorably compare either one to Camelot Inn. DH and I stayed there last year and were none too impressed. Breakfast was a joke and the room was quite dated.

The Quality looks pretty good on their website and breakfast (if eatable) would help the budget. Suggestions/reviews?

Thanks ever!!!! Oh, yes, planning February trip.

I didn't know there was an International Drive in Anaheim!

No really, I believe the Quality Inn you are looking at was called the Penny Savers Inn or something similiar a few years ago. The room was OK, but the grounds looked rather worn. The pool looked like someone filled it with a garden hose!

I drove by the Motel 6 and it seemed OK for a Motel 6.

The Motel 6 is a further walk from the parks than the Quality Inn, but IMHO, I'd go for the Motel 6. I like staying at a Motel 6 during my travels because it's a clean, no frills room. Just don't go in expecting the Ritz.

Not expecting more...

Than a clean room and a place to lay our heads. If the beds are decent and we can crash at the end of the day, we're happy. DD & I are just wanting as much of the parks as possible. Is Motel 6 closer to the parks than Quality?

I think the Motel 6 is further away.

BTW, I stayed at the Desert Inn across the street from Disney for 5 days. It was a clean place to stay. It was nothing thrilling and the free continental breakfast wasn't a good spread, but there were many restaurants down the street from the hotel. It was a good place to stay, apart from the kids running up and down the hall. But hey, Disney is across the street so the noisy kids are understandable.

I think I got it for $59 a night last September. The price might be comparable to the Motel 6. Check them out at: The Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites, Anaheim, California, Disneyland Neighbor

News flash! I checked the rates for the Motel 6 and the Desert Inn for dates from February 1 - 5. For 2 adults, the Motel 6 is $50.39 a night for a special "Click 6" online rate. The Desert Inn is $79 a night. The Quality Inn for a room with two double beds is $60.34 a night with a AAA discount. I don't think your son will share a bed, but you can save $9 if you want to.

I'd say go for the Motel 6. You might have to walk a few extra steps, but it's probably the better "economy" place in the area.

I have stayed at Motel 6, but not the other you are asking about. Besides some confusion on check-in time, we had a nice, quiet, clean stay. There is free coffee/juice in the morning. If you get the business king, you get a frig in the room. There may have been a microwave too, can't remember for sure. The business king gives you a desk, which we used to eat at when in the room.

Motel 6 is a little further away, but they have tram service. Not all hotels have this. And if you ask, they may have free tram tickets at the front desk. Oh, and if you decide on Motel 6, book online compared to over the phone. You'll get a better rate!

Two years ago we stayed at the Red Roof Inn (now Motel 6) and it was ok. No coffee in the rooms but you could get a cup in the lobby. We usually stay at the Super 8 Motel at 415 W Katella Avenue, which is a few block away from DL and I checked the price for Feb 1 thru 5 and it currently is $52.00 per day. They also have a very nice continental breakfast which is included with the price of the room.

Lots of useful stuff-

Thanks again. Lots of useful information! Now I'm just waiting for DD to get the dates off and all might be off if I can't get the cheap airfares. Right now I can get out of Omaha for $200 round trip! Last year it was $350!

Check tripadvisor for reviews about hotels. I am staying at the Quality Inn in December which has good reviews and for 5 nights with AAA it is $309 so I am pretty happy!
