| Grand Californian Hotel-- I just recieved confirmation from DVC, just a few minutes ago.. that my dates I wanted were available! I wanted the Disneyland hotel, but they went with my second choice Grand Californian Hotel concierge .. I am just happy I got the dates!! July 2 through July 7th! we will be in disneyland for my b-day, the 4th of july and my 8yo birthday!!! I thought for sure I would never get them! LOL- So I have not done too much research on this hotel... If you have stayed can you tell me some great things about it, a little about the concierge, and I even want to hear the not so great stuff too... I am suuuuper excited!!!!!! | I can't comment on concierge, but there's not a negative thing I can think to say about this resort. It's just beautiful, we've found the staff to be most accomodating and top notch, in fact it's my favorite Disney Resort anywhere. The location couldn't be any better, and try the storytelling by the fireplace in the evenings. ![]()

| How great! I can't help with concierge, but we stayed at the Grand Californian in October on our points and loved the hotel. It was absolutely beautiful - and much as we did enjoy the Disneyland Hotel - I cannot see us staying anywhere else again, we loved the GCH so much. ![]()

| Oh, I the GCH -- and especially concierge! Just a few quick tidbits - There is a computer in the lounge which you can use to check our email, print boarding passes, etc. There is a pajama party at night for the kids with a bedtime story. The food offerings are delicious. I like the afternoon tea time -- finger sandwiches, tea cookies... ![]() There are different newspapers to get in the morning...they usually go fast! There are games stored in the lounge - just ask! Have a magical time!

| I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time staying at GCH. It has always reminded me of a cross between WDW's Grand Floridian and Wilderness Lodge hotels. We're hoping to book a concierge stay on our DVC points at the Disneyland Hotel for December/2009 but I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if we ended up staying at GCH instead. Joy

and then there is the evening "wine and cheese" (different cheeses, crackers, and an assortment of wines, which you can have several glasses of). In the evening, they have a "turn down" service where they even leave a chocolate candy on your pillow. The CM's at the Concierge Desk will help you make reservations for your meals throughout the resort. They can also help you plan trips you may want to take around So. Calif. like to Sea World, Hollywood, Knotts Berry Farm, etc. I can almost assure you that you WILL totally enjoy being pampered while staying at the GCR. | |

| Joy sums it up perfectly. It is a bit of a cross between WL and GF. The staff are friendly, Storytellers' Cafe is nice - good breakfast ... (do they still have their strawberry ice-cream cake in the evening?)... We stayed at DL hotel on our first trip; it was nice but the balconies are not really true balconies and the hotel is noticeably further away than GCH so after a day at the park the walk back was a little tiring. The GCH rooms are on a par with the size of AKL/WL rooms (slightly smaller than DL Hotel) but they are nice and, if I recall correctly, have better balconies. The location can't be beaten, especially for riding attractions such as Grizzly River Run... you can just pop back to the GCH (through it's own park entrance) and get dried off!! |

| We stayed there this past May, and we LOVED it. It was our first trip to DLR/DCA, and we had the most magical time!! It is a beautiful resort, and it's proximity to the parks/DTD is fabulous. We also really enjoyed eating at Storyteller's Cafe (b'fast and dinner). You are going to love your time there. |

| We love the GCH! If you decide not to go out to DL to watch the fireworks, you can go to the lounge and watch them from there. It is a nice way to have an "early" evening but not feel as if you have missed out. There is a balcony with tables and chairs so you can sit and relax. They pipe the music in and bring you drinks.... Have a wonderful time!
