We've stayed at a variety of places, but we've had good luck with bidding on Priceline. We choose 4 stars and get a room in a fancy hotel in a decent neighborhood for about $100 a night. If you want to stay near Union Square, we're partial to the Monticello Inn. It's a little boutique hotel with the cable car running right out front.

Hi there. It depends on what part of the city you want to stay in.

Downtown
Fisherman's Wharf
Lombard street
Ocean Beach
the Zoo

Let me know and I can get you a list of motels

Well am I correct in assuming that you want to stay downtown?? You can catch the cable cars on Powell Street just southof Union Square. I would recommend that you stay around 3rd or 4th street. Getting you to the Golden gate bridge might require one of the tour busses that you can catch by Macy's in Union Square.

If you want a noise filled motel you could try the Pheonix. Nice motel but loud!!!

I would recommend that you fly into SFO(San Francisco International Airport) and take BART into the city. Its an electric train. Five Dollars and 35/100 a ticket instead of about $50.00 for a taxi. And it will take you to Powell Street and Market!

Ok so much for that whole airport thing. Lombard is a good area if you have wheels!!! Especially if you want to see The Golden Gate Bridge and other stuff north!! But its a ways from downtown. Driving is San Francisco can be tricky. A lot of one way streets.
