| Just booked Grand Californian We've been to Disneyland several times and have always stayed at the Disneyland Hotel. This time we decided to go for the Grand Californian. One of the reasons is due to my mobility issues, walking to the main gates of either park will be a lot shorter. Has anyone stayed at both hotels and would anyone like to share their comparisons/feelings about them? Thanks. Last edited by AGentlRose; 05-14-2009 at 04:30 AM.. |

| I have stayed at both and really enjoyed them. They are both great hotels but the Grand Californian takes my breath away. It reminds me a lot of Wilderness and Animal Kingdom Lodge. (Which I guess is a good thing since the same person designed them all.) The extra entrance to DCA is definitely a plus to staying at the Grand Californian. It's almost like having your own private entrance. I am sure you will love the Grand Californian!

| We loved the Disneyland Hotel, but our favourite was the Grand Californian. The theming there is just stunning. ![]()

| We have stayed at all three and love the Grand. It is our favorite hotel by far and you will not be disappointed. The atmosphere is relaxed, yet upscale. The decorations are beautiful and the views are all great. We usually spring for a DCA view as it is really cool to sit on the balcony with a drink and watch the world go by. We have had DTD views as well and those are nice, but we usually get a room above one of the street performers which can get old after a couple of nights, however you can see the fireworks with that view, so it is something to consider. Congrats on a great choice! |

| Thank you all. I don't have a choice as far as view. I was able to book through a convention that is going on at the time, for $195 night, so the room category is "run of the house" I'll be happy with wherever (as long as it's not the room that would be furthest from the elevators) I am so excited about staying here. We were in Southern California last Sunday for just one night (Costa Mesa) to see Grease and my American Idol, Taylor Hicks and I was so tempted, as we passed the Disneyland exits, to just get off the highway. But I had pets at home waiting for me and didn't clear it with my son if he could continue to watch them, so we came home. Then I got this offer for September and that fantastic rate, and I jumped on it. |

| We've stayed at all three (have trip reports on each posted on Passporter), but the Grand Californian is probably the best Disney hotel (including WDW) when it comes to service. We're spoiled forever - but on our next trip next month we're back at the Disneyland hotel - can't splurge on every trip. ![]() Enjoy! And check out the special events/tours around the hotel and in DCA.

| I'm staying at the Grand Californian Hotel this week and it's definitely much closer and better (IMO) than the other two Disney hotels.

| I can stay in either and have a great time. I sometimes think my favorite is a self contained resort like GC. There are so many things to love about the GC...from the Hearthstone Lounge, whether it be for coffee in the am or drinks and relaxing in the pm, to the wonderful relaxing atmosphere around the fireplace. Then I think of my last stay @ DLH in April and what a great few days it was...from the fitness center, walking the grounds, the fun time @ the pool, complimentary coffee, Hook's Pointe, and the spacious rooms. You can't go wrong with either hotel. Both are first class!

| I have stayed in all three hotels and love GC the most. The atmosphere is wonderful. Take the tour if you have time. Of course, The Napa Rose is the most wonderful restaurant and expensive but you can sit in their lounge and have wine and a light dinner (a more adult adventure!) Just sitting in the lobby after a long day is a delight!

| We have been to all 3 and love them all. The GC is a great place to stay, and you are right, it is very close to DL gate and you know about the private entrance to DCA so you can't go wrong there. The other nice thing is that you are right there at DTD which is really nice too. My favorite though is the original, Disney Hotel. I stay at this one more then the others and it's for it's classic style that I like it.

| One look at the GCH and I fell in love! I'm pampered to the max when we stay there! Congrats on the great convention price! Have fun!
