Hilton Anaheim

We just booked our Anniversary trip to DLR at the Hilton Anaheim. Do we need to rent a car? How far is it for walking to the parks? Do we need to the shuttle transfer? I am excited we got a great deal bc of my dh corporate account. But I am use to WDW and the ease of getting around there from the airport transfer to around the resorts and parks.

Thanks,
Sharron

The Hilton is a block or two from the back of California Adventure, but there is not an entrance at the back. When I stayed at the Hilton a few years ago, it took me about 10-15 minutes to walk to the Grand Californian, and from there 5-10 minutes to walk through Downtown Disney to the parks. I can't remember if the hotel runs a shuttle, but I would guess that they do (although if it's shared with other hotels, it might be quicker to walk).

If you're going only to the Disneyland Resort, a car will not be useful -- driving to the garage and going from the garage to the parks would take almost as long as walking or waiting for a shuttle. You will, however, need a shuttle or other transport from the airport to the hotel.

Happy planning,
Melissa

The Hilton does not offer a shuttle. They tell you that you can use the public bus service.

We stayed there last year in May, and I was able to get a great rate there on Priceline for $47 per night! That hotel is HUGE. Melissa is right; it is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel to DLR.

CA is no WDW. Transportation and getting around seems much easier in Orlando. But the parks there are smaller, so even if you have to walk a little bit more it doesn't seem too bad. Have a great time!

You can get a ART (Anaheim Resort Transport ) pass through the hotel (approx $4/day-buy it from the hotel (good for off/on all day) rather than the bus driver (one way only).
It is a really nice facility.
If you rent a car be prepared for the parking fee of about $15 per day )

I stayed a night at the Hilton Anaheim a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it.

The walk is really not that far, but we chose to ride the ART shuttle to and from the parks. There is a machine/kiosk in the lobby of the Hilton that you can buy your ART passes from . . . you can buy single day or multi-day tickets there.

As I remember, you board at the Marriott across the street. We found it a lot faster than walking and very convenient.

We will probably walk to the parks for one day. My dh thinks it will be fine. I disagree. I see us buying the ART passes on the second day of our trip. He thinks it will be a short walk like walking from the Contemporary to MK and I think it's further. Thanks for all the feedback!

Well, it's not a 'short' walk... at least coming back at night! I was completely fine on the way there, but draggin' butt on the way home. But it isn't horrible, and $4 per person per day pays for churros, Dole Whips and Mickey bars.
