Hotels within walking distance to convention center and Disneyland
I plan to be at a conference at the Anaheim Convention center in November. I have seen the Hilton at the convention center and stayed at the Sheraton Park Hotel when it was the Coast Anaheim (it appears to have outrageous prices now). Anyone have any thoughts on The Annabella, Portofino Inn and Suites or Desert Palms Hotel and Suites (is it still in the area)? My first priority would be within walking distance to the convention center as I know that I can probably use the transit system to get to Disney. Thanks for any thoughts on recent stays you may have had.

I have stayed at the Annabella. Our experience started out badly, as we had a room right next to the cleaning staff break room. The staff arrived extremely early, stood right outside our room, (even was leaning against our door) smoking cigarettes and talking LOUDLY. They even took the complimentary newspaper that was intended for our room. At 5:30 am I literally had to wade my way through several employees who were gathered outside our room, go to the manager and complain. We were immediately moved to another room, much larger and certainly a lot quieter. We can say that with that exception, our stay at the Annabella was nice. The only other oddity we found that it is a HUGE hotel and their laundry room had just two washers and two dryers...not nearly enough for all the rooms/guests they had. It is a lovely hotel, and the management and desk help were terrific!!!!
This is what my kids used to call this hotel. It is easily one of the nicest hotels
outside of staying in one of the true "Disney" Hotels, such as the Grand Californian.
Beautiful, spacious rooms, granite bathrooms, most of the rooms have a small, almost
private patio in front of the entrance to the room with a small table and chairs.
Stayed there last May, probably our fourth visit or so.
Warning, Pool can be very noisy, but they do have an "adult" pool behind a wall on
Katella Ave.
It is my wife's and I hotel of choice, but the rates can vary dramatically, as to whether some event is going on at the Anaheim Convention Center just down the street.
One can get rates for as little as 89/nite, but for example, next week, during our trip down there, the rate is 149/nite, so we are staying at one of the hotels directly across
Harbor Blvd. from the Park Entrance.
Beautiful grounds, great place to stay...Enjoy.
we absolutely loved the Portofino when we stayed there a couple years ago. it has a great location, large rooms, good prices and we could walk to the convention center, DLR, and the Garden Walk. I would definitely stay there again, hopefully we will in November Housekeeping was very spot on, our room always was well maintained/cleaned, the pool was so-so if that is a priority for you, the grounds were well kept. Though they did not have on-site dining, there are so many restaurants within walking distance, it never seemed to be an issue. Good luck making a decision!

To reply to a couple of questions not answered. The Anabella and the Desert Palms are both within walking distance of each other and to the Convention Center.
