Embassy Suites Anaheim South

I posted (in the wrong place! sorry!!) a few days ago about my disappointment at not being able to stay "on property" for our first DL visit in July. Long story short, we are traveling with my BIL so we need a room to accommodate 6 people. After calling various places, etc. i think we are looking at two in particular:

Embassy Suites Anaheim South & Ramada Maingate. The Ramada Maingate is actually more expensive. But, it gets my vote simply because of the location.

My husband is really pushing the Embassy. It does look like a great hotel with a yummy free breakfast. My biggest concern is that i wanted to be within walking distance! If you've stayed here, how are the shuttles? I've read that there is a shuttle fee (and a parking fee for your own car too). When we stay in WDW we always drive to the parks b/c we don't like waiting on the buses with the 3 kids after a long park day. Can you drive to the DL and DcA parks? Does anyone know the parking fee?

Thank you for any advice! I still really wish we could do the Disneyland Hotel, that 40% room rate for military is such a good deal for US (making it about the same as any other good neighbor place) but for BIL who would have to get a room for himself at that cost, not so good for him!! I noticed that rooms at DL Hotel (standard rooms) had two queens and a sleeper sofa. That is the exact set-up at the Best Western Good Neighbor Hotel that WILL allow 6 per room. i don't really understand that. I actually called to ask (Disney) about it but the person i spoke with just mentioned the fire code stuff. Which is really weird b/c those Best Western rooms have LESS square footage. Didn't mean to ramble on!! Just trying to work through this!! I'm sure we will have a magical time no matter what!

It's $15/day to park at DL. The parking garage is pretty close, at least you can take a tram, like at WDW. However, the parking lot was a good hike from DL, and you had to take the blue buses. The line to get on those was quite long the morning we ended up in that lot, and we just walked (but it was quite a bit of a walk). If you can find a hotel within walking distance, I'd go with that!

As I have not stayed at any of the hotels in or near Disneyland I can only furnish you with information on your other questions. Possibly each hotel's webaite can answer your questions on accommodations.

From your post I assume that you will not be driving and I will hopefully answer questions for others.

As you know the Ramada Maingate is at 1650 S. Harbor Blvd., Anaheim, CA, 1-714-772-0440, across the street from the Disneyland entrance which will allow you to walk across the street. Parking is free.

For the Embassy Suites South at 11767 S. Harbor Blvd. in Garden Grove (not actually in Anaheim) 1-714-539-3300. the distance to Harbor Blvd. and Magic Way, Disneyland's entrance, is approximately 1.3 miles. Parking is $ 8.00 per day.

You have a couple of options of getting into DLR and DCA.

1. Attempt to park free at one of the hotels offering free parking to customers along Harbor Blvd. in front of Disneyland or a side street in the same area.

2. The parking fee at Disneyland is $15.00 unless you have a premium annual pass. Free trams service the parking lots to Downtown Disney, Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure.

3. The following from the Embassy Suites South.

a. Orange County Transit Authoriy (OCTA) city bus #43 which travels north and south on Harbor Blvd. by the Embassy. Cost $1.50 each way. Last bus from DLR to the Embassy is approximately 12:30 A.M. 1-714-560-6282.

b. The Embassy does not have a free shuttle bus service as some hotels.

c. ART (Anaheim Resort Transit) shuttle service is available to Dissneyland Transit Center which is at the entrance to Disneyland and DCA. There is a shuttle fee. See this site for fees that vary with your length of use. Each pass is good for one day of unlimited service over any of the ART routes. The passes do not have to be purchased in advance by mail but can be purchased at the front desk or their Disney Desk at the same fee.

Anaheim Resort Transit - ART - Anaheim Orange County California

The Embassy is on Route #2.
The last shuttle to the Embassy is approximately 12:30 A.M.
I would suggest you check with the ART driver to verify the time and the correct boarding spot.
The shuttle runs approximately every 20 minutes.
ART is 1-714-563-5187.

d. Taxi. Yellow Cab Company, 1-714-563-3101, estimated a one-way charge of $7.00 to Disneyland.

For others use this site to locate the ART pickup locations. For passes contact the main desk of those hotels for information.

Anaheim Resort Transit.

When you open this site you can enlarge by clicking ON THE MAP. To increase the size further use the tool bar at the top left of the map and change 55.7% to 100% or your choice.
