Howards Johnson Plaza Hotel
I just booked a one night stay at HOJO. I think I got a good rate. It is for Sept 2nd. It came to $148.82 using my AARP discount, that includes the taxes etc. I have never stayed there. I am also waitlisted at the GCH with my DVC points, but am sure that won't come trough.
What can you tell me about the HOJO?

We stayed there in 2010. It was fine. The room was good size. We were on the first floor, which was nice (no elevators). We were in the building in the back, but facing the pool but the noise wasn't bad. The walk to DL/DCA wasn't that bad (less than 10 minutes). We'd stay there again!
From an old post a PP mentioned that they were in a HoJo building that was quite noisy because it bordered on the freeway and freeway on-ramp (at Harbor and I-5). This was probably HoJo building #5.
Colexis Mom mentioned that her room facing the pool "wasn't bad." According to a map this would have been building 6.
If you want less noise book first choice for building #4 and second choice for building #3.
Disneyland is just 0.05 miles from Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel and it gets Very favorable reviews on TripAdvisor. They have an awesome pool area; Castaway Cove and mention a shuttle to/from parks for "a small fee" so I am assuming it is the ART Shuttle which offers 1-3-5 day passes if you need this kind of service. Many of the reviews I have read talk of being able to see the Disney Fireworks from the hotel.
Yes HoJo does have the ART shuttle which is helpful to handicapped people needing the service.
The round trip fee is $4.00 if you purchase a pass in advance before boarding from the HoJo Hotel. The pass will also allow you to unlimited service for the day back to HoJo and on all ART routes.
If you don't need the service walk across the street and save $4.00. It's about a ten minute walk.

Well.... I cancelled my reservation with HOJO. Just didn't want to spend so much with our stay at the end of the same month.
I converted some of my DVC points into reservation points and will now be staying at the Disneyland Hotel. I am really excited as I have never stayed there before. Unfortunately all of the DVC villas are booked and being that it is the marathon and Labor Day Weekend, I don't think there will be any DVC cancellations.
