I did a spur of the moment detour to see the reopened IaSW with the holiday overlay, and it's really beautiful! The majority of the ride is the same, but the colors are so vibrant! I noticed a few little changes, which I won't spoil here, but overall I was really pleased with the results.
The new boats are nice, but they seem to be more narrow than the old ones, and it makes me wonder if that's going to slow down the lines just a touch...the old boats used to be able to seat 4-5 people (assuming a child or 2), but the new boats can't possibly seat more than 4 (or 3 adults comfortably).
Anyhow, about an hour after opening today, the line took about 15-20 minutes.

Did you get any pictures of the outside? If not, we're going over the weekend and I'm sure we'll take a few (dozen) of it....I can post them if people want.

It was definitely spur of the moment, and I didn't have my camera with me. I took a pic with my phone, but it didn't look all that great. I'll be there this weekend too! You take the best pictures with your camera, Heather, so I'll be looking forward to yours!
I wish I had a definite day and time when I'll be there so we can meet, but unfortunately, it's most likely going to be a last minute thing...I just know that I plan on being there for sure at some point this weekend, lol!

Thanks so much for the review. I can hardly wait to see the Christmas version of this attraction but I'm afraid I will just have to wait until December/2009.

Wonderful! We're hoping to be there this weekend. I think they purposely made the boats smaller to fit fewer people because the way I heard it, that was a problem with the old boats and one reason for the rehab - too many people in them and they were hitting bottom.
Only problem now, though, is the boats veer more because they are smaller so there's more room to move. It's not a disturbing movement, I just noticed that the front of our boat(s) moved side to side a lot more than it used to.
By the way, go EARLY! To see the inside, go early when the lines are shorter. There is no FP for it and the lines are HUGE at night. Then, in the evening, you can decide if the line is worth the wait or if you just want to admire it from the outside (and having seen it earlier in the day, you won't lament that you didn't get to see it inside).
The line queues up all through the normal stroller parking area and up into the steps area (to the right looking at the ride). It's crazy if you aren't expecting it to be like that....
