| Talk her down... please! DD was looking over my shoulder last night while I was surfing a DLR site. I was looking at the description of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and she saw the reference to "going to Hell." It absolutely freaked her out. Mr. Toad was my favorite ride at WDW on my first couple of trips, but I haven't ridden it since 1974. I don't remember the story line enough to remember that there was a Hell sequence, much less how it fits in. Can someone please give me some context, description, approximate length, etc. so that I can convince her it's no big deal. A picture or two would be great! Mind you -- this is an 8 year old who has seen every Harry Potter movie (and read all the books) numerous times with no ill effects. I think she's "scared" because she thinks she should be. But I can't convince her of that. And I can't go to youtube and show it to her -- we have dialup internet, so the video on youtube doesn't work.

| I have an 8 year old who didn't blink an eye at the end of HP& the Half Blood Prince, but won't let us play "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" (especially in the car at night). So I feel your pain. Unfortunately, since I've never gone on Mr. Toad's, I can't help out. I think it's probably because (if you are religious) "Hell" is a much more real concept than stuff that's obviously fake, like Voldemort. It may take a conversation of the different ways to refer to hell (lilke, "this place is going to hell" which is metaphorical) or a reminder that the story of Mr. Toad is just as "fake" as HP or princess cartoons, etc.

| It's at the end of the ride, and it's a very cartoon-like version of hell. There are a bunch of little animatronic type devils with pitchforks and a big devil that's like a cardboard cut-out type thing. It's not scary at all and lasts about 15 seconds. The part that always freaked me out as a kid was the train.

| Just some FYI: it is a pretty loud ride. My kids were freaked out the first time. The next time we went to DL, they did not want to go on it again. One was 7 and the other was 9 years old at the time. It was cold and we convinced them that we would get warmed up in the "Hell" scene. So, we got them on again - I just had to hold my hands over the 7 year old's ears and he kept his eyes closed....

| Thanks folks, but don't bother posting Youtube links for me. They won't run on our computer.

| It's really no big deal if you miss this ride. I've been on it a couple of times and it is really dated to say the least. The hell sequence is short after Mr. Toad is judged for bad behavior. My 4 year old was freaked because it is such a frantic ride and it's really hard to follow the story. If you really want her to ride have her read the book first. then it will make more sense.

| Totally Agree Reading the book or watching the Adventures of Mr. Toad if you can get a hold of it is a must if you are not born in the 50's. Even with that, it was not among my fav's. I'll take my DD, but she's 24. The other ride that's not among my favs is the Alice in Wonderland ride. But, that's not to say I will keep away from it. I won't. It's part of Walt's experience and since that's why I'm taking my DD, we will experience all Walt still has to offer and then she'll understand better the comparisons I make to WDW. Call me romantic or sentimental but that's me! And I love every minute of it!
