iPhones and iPod Touch If you own either the iPhone or iPod Touch I just purchased for .99$ each, apps for these that are maps for DL and CA. I was affraid that if I were to purchase them, they could be outdated in the blink of an eye but I was told that the company that wrote these programs will continue to update them as changes are made to either park. Also avalible are programs covering Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom in FL. These maps are about like those you get at the maingate. They tell you where to eat (with menus for DL eateries, from the AllEars.net) , where the restrooms are and where the attractions are, plus they tell you a little about each attraction from Wikipedia.com. This might help in planning your stay at the parks. How can you co wrong for less than a buck?

My DW and I both bought the iPod Touch 8gig and I have loaded all of my DLR and WDW photos onto it and nearly 380 tunes and still have about 4gig left. If you have a Costco membership, you can save about $10.00 on any of the three memory sizes. Some of the other 'apps' that I have downloaded for FREE were the WiFinder (great for locating any WiFi sites), Check Please (great for calculating meal tips), ShopShop (create your shopping lists), LocalPicks(Restaurant locator), GoogleEarth(but of course), and several different games. ALL FOR FREE. What we like the best about the Touch is there is 3 different way of recharging the battery. Household current (AC), in the car (DC) or and this is really nice, USB (from your computer). There are many many other 'apps' that you can add as well.

I have been in e-mail contact with the company that is making these programs for the i-Phone and i-Pod Touch and had asked about updates and additions and here is what they have told me. "Hi, Bill We are going to be releasing updates to both Disneyland and California Adventure in the next couple of weeks. With those updates, we are going to add calendar info and remote updates. This will allow us to keep the information more up-to-date without having to do updates through the app store. These features have been added to Magic Kingdom and Epcot just this week. After those releases, the next thing on the list would most likely be adding more content and getting the menus integrated in. We do want continue to add to these maps. We just didn't anticipate the level of interest and there is definitely a lot more that can be done. Thanks, Aaron White" and further e-mail contact included this bit a good news for these apps, "Actually, I've been gathering user feedback off and on in regards of what to do next, so when you get a chance, let me know what seems more interesting. Basically, we'll have calendar data soon. So, next could be menu data. But we were also considering "tips", more detailed descriptions, etc. Another more involved option would be to allow the user to customize the maps and share their own tips and other information. The Disney community is very active so it seems allowing them to manage their own information in the maps would be something of interest. Any opinion on which you would like to see first?" if any of you out there would like to add any comments or suggestions let me know and I will forward them on to Aarron White. If we are going to use these apps, and they are willing to listen, let's make them be what we can use.

| Not only are the applications great but.... I had to replace my Iphone (replaced under warranty). When I tried to reload from an Iphone backup it would not load the application for one of the parks. So being a big spender (another .99 ) I re requested the application. ITunes knew I had bought if previously and it re downloaded for FREE. Great customer service !

That is very interesting to know. Even though we have the iPod Touch, it is identical to the iPhone with the exception being that we can't make phone calls. Hahaha. So, what you are saying is if for some reason we loose one of the apps that we purchased from the ITune store, they remember what it was we bought and won't re-charge us for a replacement. Interesting. Thanks.

I love love love my ipod touch. I saw those apps about WDW but haven't gotten them yet. In order for the park apps to work does it have to have internet? Last edited by TMWIlson7196; 03-25-2009 at 05:53 PM..

Your iPod Touch can link up with any local WiFi system and when you open any of the Disney app's they are updated and that information with remain curent until you connect to the 'net' again. If you don't have a local WiFi net, just connect your 'pod' to your computer with the proper cable and open those app's. All data is then refreshed and retained. Hope I have not confused you with this information. lol
