Trick to riding Dumbo twice

Waiting in line to ride Dumbo has always been a very very long wait. I for one get so tired standing and waiting for what seems hours to get on the ride. I read somewhere that while standing in line for Dumbo, have someone else get into the line about 30 people behind you so when your done riding Dumbo with your little one you pass him/her off to the other adult. Has anyone done this? We are going next week and I am going to try it...then maybe we won't have to keep going back every day.

IMO it doesn't exactly sound fair to other families who have been waiting together for their turn. And I don't know about the one in Disneyland, but isn't the one in DW surrounded by flowers? Not to mention the fact that the loading platform isn't ground level. How would you get near enough to hand her off?

Good luck whatever you decide.

I don't think you will be able to hand off your little one without cuting in line.
If that is the case, I wouldn't do it.

There was one of the guides that called it the Chuck Bubba relay. Didn't sound fair to me either and never bought another one of those guides.

It's no different than getting back in line at the end of the line. The other person is in line and will take up on elephant with or without the child. I would really prefer they get the FP system on Dumbo. There needs to be a better way to ride that ride and a few others. DL has no shade for the children and it's gets super hot. Well...I do plan to try it at least once if the line is that bad. Then maybe we won't have to ride it anymore.

First of all, I don't think anyone here considers themselves a saint (I know I don't) and second, I only said it seems unfair. I didn't say anything about being for it or against it. I just wanted you to think about HOW you would hand her off if the platform isn't ground level. My daughter is much to heavy to lift very high (and has been since she was 3 or 4). Is it really worth it to hurt yourself or your child to get her on a ride again?

That's a bit harsh. I think people are just saying it wouldn't be fair if they waited for ever for a ride then why can't you? Personally I wouldn't do it but if your ok with it then do it. Btw how is it the same as using the single rider lines? That's completely different.

Well I certainly don't think of myself as a Saint but I hope my DH does.
Anyway I don't mind the families spliting up as long as they don't line cut
to do it and know that they won't be riding with their family.
That being said if a family of four wants to all ride in the single
rider line I'm ok with that....as long as they don't cut the line and know they
won't be riding with their family. Would it be
nice if Dumbo was a FP ride, YES. But until Disney makes it one I will be
riding like everyone else one ride at a time. I have found here on Passporter
that most people follow the rules made for everyone and for the most part
shortcuts don't really give some the edge they think it will. JMHO

I think the best idea for this ride is to get there early and do it first. You can ride it again with only a minimal line the second time again.

I'm not sure how the line is positioned a DL, but at WDW it would be hard to find a place that isn't far back in line that is reachable to lift a child in.

I do agree that if the other parent is standing in line already - they are taking their turn standing in line, and will still take up an elephant when they ride. I don't think this is much different than when a parent stays in line while the other one takes a small child to the washroom and then brings them back to the line.

Honestly if I saw someone doing this it wouldn't bother me. Especially if it was a preschooler or toddler. We've all been there when a child wants to ride "again again!" I just didn't like that the guide book made a joke out of "working the system". It was one of many "methods" they offered.

If that was one of those unoffical guides I know what you mean, I don't read them anymore. We love our PassPorter's since we started using on for our WDW in '07 and it was a great organizer for our 15 nt Hawaii Cruise in '08.

I am only considering it because my husband and I both love to ride it with our son (now 6) and if we are getting in line together we end up with one single rider in an elephant. It ony makes since to have one of us get in line further back and our son can ride twice and we still only use 2 elephants in the end. I feel that it's really no different than the families that split up and ride the single ride lines IMHO. On Buzz Astro Blaster when he was younger we used to put him on one of our laps (usually mine) so we wouldn't take up a second car. Guess those days are gone. Hopefully he will grow out of Dumbo in a few more years. Although that means one less very very long wait.

Don't bet on it! DD is 9 and we just had plenty of "again again" moments on Dumbo with a 3rd grader!
