Question Has anyone ridden Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy?

I'd love your opinions. I tried watching the Ghost Galaxy videos on youtube, but due to the darkness, you really couldn't see much.

If anyone has been to Disneyland since the overlays, is the Haunted Mansion Holidays the same as last year?

Thanks in advance.
(waiting patiently for our October trip to Disneyland)

I rode Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy the second day it opened, but was in the back so I didn't see all of the changes. The music was kind of spooky and there were some skeleton-ghost-things projected on the walls. I don't want to spoil it for you, so I won't say any more. Of course, the track is the same.

I don't really get a big kick out of Haunted Mansion, so I don't find it worth the sometimes-long wait and can't tell whether it changed or not.

Have fun!

Ginger

Ginger
You won't spoil anything for me. As one who is easily startled, I'd rather go in knowing what's coming. If you don't want to spoil it for others, please PM me.

I know one of the youtube vides had a little caption that said "if you sit in the 4th row, left side, watch out." I already told my DH that if we're assigned to row 4, he's sitting on the left side.

I was there the day after you! I also rode toward the back, so I don't think it was as "effective" as if you were sitting in the first row or two. I think the changes were really neat, but in a way I guess I was expecting more. I think all the talk about it overhyped it for me! Still, I'm hoping to get back there to try it once more before they take it away. My 9yo liked it a lot, but as she is shorter and was sitting in the back care with me, I don't think she really got to see all the effects.

I've heard it may be scary for younger kids, but I didn't find it so...I mean, it's Halloween, so I think you can expect ghouls and skeletons and other assorted scary things! I was sitting on the left probably around the 4th row, and if it's what I'm thinking, I found the effect more "cool" than "scary" hehe!

12 Days and counting for me. I can't wait to ride it. To those who rode: How were the lines? I read on opening day, in the first hour of the park opening, the line was 90 min long.

I've only been on the Sunday that was 2 days after the opening, I believe.

The Park opened at 8. My daughter and I walked through the gates around 8:15 and hurried to get Fast Passes...got there at 8:17. The return time was around 9:30, I believe. The wait was listed as 10 or 15 minutes, if I recall. My daughter and I decided to skip the stand-by and head quickly over to Haunted Mansion Holiday. When we got there around 8:30 or so, the wait was only about 5 minutes.

And yes, I heard that opening day was a nightmare for waits!

We rode it last Saturday. It was Early Entry for Hotel Guests at 7, we were able to get in at 8 and headed straight for Space. The line was 25 min. then. We had friends who rode it the Sunday before that in the afternoon and the wait was 90 min.
I didn't find the effects all they were hyped up to be. They changed the music which made it hard to anticipate the turns and had images projected on the walls. I didn't find it that scary but my friends' 8 year old had nightmares for 3 days after riding.
Haunted Mansion (which had a 10 min. wait at 10 a.m.) didn't appear to be any different from in the past from what I can remember.

We were down Oct. 9-12 and rode it several times. My DD(15) and I loved it. Having sat in the front middle and back rows, I recommend the middle. The left side has more of the effects happening than the right. I thought the Ghost was scary looking and would recommend that any one with children under the age of 10 who are frightened by scary things, should check it out before letting the children ride. Now I know that kids vary greatly as to what scares them. I am sure that there are 5 year kids who wont be scared at all. I saw kids in the 8-10 age range coming out of the ride with their faces covered by their hands. There were long lines the weekend we were there with wait times getting up to 120 minutes. The longest we waited was 25. We would be at the ride when the fast pass machines opened. Grabbed a FP then went standby. Even on a EE morning the line was not that long at normal park opening. Fast passes disappear early. If you love Space Mt, you will still get your thrill. I enjoyed having the spooky overlay for Halloween.

Last night is was 90 minute wait after the parade. Disabled line was about 30 to 50 minute wait. I asked the CM and he loaded the car with other people as I had sort of adopted a group of 11. I agree that all it is, to me, is projection screens and YAWN. I did like riding in the darkness and it was a great ride except for the boring projections. Nicer if they had sprays of water or animatronics like Yeti.

My daughter rode yesterday and she gave it a lukewarm rating...didn't live up to the hype in her opinion.

I rode last week and thought it was lots of fun and a little scary. I agree it could be scary for kids. I wouldn't wait 90 minutes for it though (but I wouldn't for the regular Space Mountain either). We had Fastpasses. The lighting effects on the outside of the mountain were impressive and added to the ride. It gets a big from me.

Are the lighting effects on the outside of the mountain a continous thing?

Tomorrow will be our chance to ride and see, can't wait.

I think so. It was going everytime I saw the mountain at night.

Darn, I was there for 3 days and forgot about the night lights on Space Mountain. We usually ended our day either near the Haunted Mansion then watched the fireworks from New Orleans Square or on Main St. Our third night was in California Adventure because Disneyland closed at 5 for a private event.
So we were never in Tomorrowland after dark.

I did love Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy. Lines were long 90 min for regular line and 60 min for handicapped line on Sunday. Monday and Tuesday weren't so bad. Haunted Mansion Holidays also had a 75 minute wait on Sunday. Sunday was arrival day and fast passes were gone by the time we got there, so we waited and it wasn't bad because once it got dark, they did a little "lighting ceremony" when they lit the outside of Haunted Mansion.
