June 15th... Anyone going?
I was not planning on it, but we are going tomorrow. We will probably leave the house at 4:30am. They will have a queue set up for DCA starting at 11pm tonight. It will be total insanity tomorrow, but I survived the Leap Day crowds. I am so excited to see DCA without all the walls. I really can't wait to get back on the Matterhorn and see the new sleds.
Anyone else going???

Nope, no way. Sadly, I can't do those types of crowds. Good Luck and look forward to hearing your report. Our passes recently expired and we have decided to wait out until after summer before we venture back. Hope you have a great day.

Yes... the crowds will be totally insane. I am just hoping to get one of the opening day pins. That is really the only thing (reason) we are going on Friday. We will be back on Monday the 18th, staying with a friend of ours at the GCH villias. We will only be there for the day, but still be able to have some swimming down time.

I wish I could go, but the kids' passes are blacked out. I suppose I could find babysitter for them, but I'd feel too guilty experiencing it without them!

Our experience... well most of it..
We started out early leaving the house at 4:45am. Made it to Disneyland about 5:40am. By the time we got to the ticket booths it was 6am and we had to walk since the trams were not running yet. Got to the merchandise ticket booth and the line was already closed... what. We went because we wanted the pins. Oh well.. so much for that.
Got in line for DCA. The esplanade was split up into areas. The front area/ the media area and then the back area. We were about 3 rows back in the back area. They had tape queue lines in the whole esplanade. Everything was very orderly and the whole crowd was in party mode. The CM's did a great job....Kudos to Disney on this one.
Entry into the park (again orderly, not rushing the gates). They had us entering and going straight into Cars Land. I wanted to go to the merchandise area in Hollywood land but they said it was not open yet. Sigh... oh well No pins yet.
Cars Land..... we went straight to Radiator Springs Racers. The line was very long already. I have a GAC and was able to use the fast pass lanes. In the morning, not so bad... I will explain the afternoon later. RSR was fantastic. It had a true storyline, very scenic and very cool. The handicapped loading area was a separate area where you can take your time loading, getting settled in before going on to the main track,
Luigi's Flying tires..... moves very slow, hard to control where you want to go. Loved the theming and the beach balls. They had me drive my scooter on to the ride area and then they took it to the exit.
Mater's Junkyard Jamboree.... This was actually fun. There are two loading areas, so it moves a little faster. This reminds me of the Francis Ladybug attraction in Bugs Land.
Cars Land to say the least was VERY crowded. The CM's did a great job at crowd control and making one way streets. The CM'S working the attractions are still getting the kinks worked out. Some knew where the alternate entrance was....some didn't. They will eventually get it all down to a routine. It was very hard for them with such a crowd... Kudos to them for their efforts with a massive undertaking of crowd control.
Didn't get to try any of the foods in Cars Land. The lines were horrible, and I have the patience of a flea. We will eventually get to try them.,
We left Cars Land around 11am and headed over to see if we could get some pins in the Animation building. They had the entrance across from the Hyperion Theater so you enter from the CM side entrance. They gave us 4 merchandise papers, a map where everything was located and a color coded card with a number on it. We were beige 002 and 003. Then you go into the art studio and wait for your color and number to be called to go into the merchandise area. Everything was in 4 different zones. SCORE.... we got our pins, and one Red Trolley vinylmation. Headed over to the check out area. It was the queue area for Turtle Talk and it was lined with cash registers the whole way down. Well $107.00 (after the AP discount) later we left the building via the side CM exit. That led us back stage and we re entered the park where the bathroom area was.
Disneyland:
We opted for lunch there at Jolly Holiday. NO CROWDS at Jolly Holiday Jessica and I both had the tomato soup/grilled cheese combo. After that it was time for the Matterhorn. I have been anxoiusly waiting for this attraction to re-open. The mountain climbers are back and tackling the climb up the Matterhorn. They are now playing some kind of yodling(sp?) music at the back side of the Matterhorn. Jessica didn't care for it.. Just not what she is used to. The new sleds are very nice. They are harder to get in (for me at least). I let Jessica have the front seat and I was in the center. They have an area for your feet, and with your knees bent... felt like I was having a doctors exam....lol From now on, it is the front seat for me. There is not as much leg room as before. They do not have lap bars, but seat belts instead. The line for this was about 90 minutes all day long, The new alternate entrance is the old exit area across from the Tea Cups.
Later in the afternoon, we went back to Cars Land. The regular line had a wait of 240 minutes. The fastpass line/GAC line was about 45minutes to an hour long. Needless to say we skipped it.
All in all, Cars Land is really amazing with so much detail. An overload for the senses for anyone. It will take several visits to take it all in. Buena Vista Street.... very cool with tons of detail. That will also take several visits of exploring to take it all in. The imagineers did a fantastic job. It was so good to see the new DCA without all the cumbersome walls. Looking forward to our Monday visit....CAN'T WAIT

I don't think so. There is very little room in the new bobsleds. They are made for one rider in each seat. The front seat seems a little larger. I was in the middle seat and it was hard for me to get in and out of. The seats fit a lot more snug in the back rest area. Since it is for single riders that is why they raised the height requirement on this attraction. I believe it is now 40inches instead of the previous 32 inches. We will be going again on Monday. I will ask a CM if they allow it.
