Okay...I have a hard time believing this. In a 2013 guide book, it says, "...Indiana Jones indoor queuing area, a system of tunnels and passageways extending to within 50 yards of the Santa Monica Pier."
Really?
The pier is roughly 40 to 45 miles away from Disneyland. I'm expected to believe that Disneyland has underground tunnels that extend to less than a mile away from the Santa Monica Pier?
I'm thinking the same as you, but I wonder if it's a reference to the California Adventure - does that have anything that could resemble the Santa Monica Pier. I may be totally off with that suggestion, but that's all I can think of.

That's my thought, too. Pacific Wharf/Paradise Pier, maybe....that's a long way, too, but not as long to the Santa Monica Pier. Better stick to the PP guide books!

It clearly states the Santa Monica Pier.
It seems to me that I've heard this before, but can't say where from. I'd hate to think a guide book would take a rumor as fact.
On our trip to DL last March, DH and I had the rare occasion to actually ride something together just the two of us since Mom was back in the room watching the girls. Indy is one of DH's favorite rides, so we sucked it up and jumped in the standby line. Wow, does that line weave in and out of a jungle type queue before moving into the temple building where, again, you circle and circle before getting on the ride! So, I think the statement was meant to be somewhat tongue in cheek.

That book's authors have a wry humor, I also took the comparison as a joke.
PS I actually just bought that guidebook as an ebook (the only reason I didn't buy Passporters' Disneyland is because a lot of mail simply never arrives at our site here in South Africa) to start planning a DL trip when we get home! Never been to DL, looking forward to it. October 2014...
The more I think about it, I can see it being a joke. Though it is written as if stating a fact.
I love PP, but with no 2013 Disneyland book in the works, I went with The Unofficial Guide 2013.
