My youngest daughter graduates high school in June. As she started her senior year, I asked her where she would like to go on her graduation trip. She very wisely said "Disney World" of course.:applause: So I started saving money, thinking this was going to be another budget-buster like last year, when lo and behold, Disney came out with their 7 for 4 offer.:) I asked DD if she wouldn't mind going in March instead of June, and she's cool with that. So I called Disney, had them crunch numbers for me, and we are GOING!!!:thewave::woot: We will be staying at Caribbean Beach again, getting two rooms this time, and using the deluxe dining plan. With Disney's wonderful offer, and the low airfares, even getting two rooms, I will be saving almost $600 over last year, and almost $2000 versus going in June.:applause::waytogo: I can't wait!!!! As soon as my new passporter comes, we will be making our dining choices, but does disney post the park hours that far ahead? I really want to hit EMH for MK. And how do I add a countdown timer, I've forgotten:p

We are planning on going to magic kingdom dec 28th this year. I was wondering if anyone else is going to be there on that day? I would like to meet some of my PP friends. we are celebrating my daughter's birthday which she is turning 16.

plus, we will have our 2 year old with us. has anyone went lately with a toddler or a teen? if so any tips or things to look for in magic kingdom? my teen loves things about history and plus she also loves tinkerbell. is there a special place where she can meet tinkerbell? we love finding hidden stuff that alot people don't know or where to look. plus, any little things that are great souvenirs.

Airfare from Nashville to Orlando on SWA on 2/6/09 (Saturday) is $94.00.
Return airfare the following Friday is $105.00.
Should I buy now or do you think something lower will come through? :confused:

Someone mentioned to me that there are black out dates for annual passes. For example, maybe you wouldn't be able to go during Christmas or over the summer. Is this true? Any help with this would be appreciated!

Does anyone know if I'll have an issue with having my BareMinerals makeup in my carry-on? I didn't know because of it being a bunch of powders if that was an issue. All the websites say liquids and gels only for the quart size baggie thing, but this stuff is expensive. The last thing I want is to have it taken :(

If it is correct, can you take the dessert with you - I really don't think we can eat that much food and still be able to walk around!

We are paid in full... and, the girls have begun the countdown!

I have been setting money aside for activities not included in our package, etc; however, I do not have a credit card... only my Visa debit card. Should I get a credit card or will my Visa debit card be sufficient? I will ask my bank to raise my daily limit, but I worry about it being declined if I use it to much in one day. Has anyone ever experienced that. I guess my biggest fear is "charging" items to the room and on the day of checkout, it not going through because of debit card daily spending limits.

So This year 5-11 July was my Honeymoon and very first time to WDW (my trip report is very late :blushing: )! My In-Laws live in Florida about 3 hours away from WDW. They have spent New Years in WDW every year for the last 18 years. This year my husband and I are going with them!!! I am going to Disney twice in one year, I have to be dreaming someone pinch me!

I will admit I got the email with the discount offer. But it came MONTHS ago -- like right after I booked. And I didn't preorder (because on our last trip, the discount code was only good for a couple of weeks -- so why would I preorder in Sept for a Dec trip.)
Anyway, I apparently didn't save that email because I can't find it anywhere in my email folders.
I called Photopass today and they said I can't preorder on the phone and they can't reissue the offer. I'm kicking myself because it really is my fault.
Grr! I can't justify full price for the photo CD, but was really hoping for the discount.
I preregistered the photopass card that came with my travel docs. I've heard that sometimes results in a discount -- when might that one show up?

What a delightful suprise. I get home and find out I have a package from Canada. Wasn't sure who it was from. But it turns out that it contains chocolate and is from Goofy Mom!!! Thanks so much. That is so nice. Now I have my tea cups from Danielle and chocolate from you!!! And I just found out that Disney Characters are gonna be at one of the Christmas Tree lightings here!! Yahoo.

I know what I want to buy dh for Christmas.....
but I am not sure how I can do it without him knowing!
I want to buy him a Wii.
The thing is, we have been diligently saving, so any money I take out of the
bank, he will know about.
We are not using our charge card since we paid it off. (he would have a cow if I bought him a gift with the charge card!:smirk:)
The only way I think I could do this and pull it off, is to ask one
of the boys to buy it for me, and then after Christmas, pay them back.
Do you think that is asking too much?

Park hopping question

Can I dine at the yacht club and then go to magic kingdom for a cruise or parade or is this entering two parks? I am trying to save money but sticking to one park is hard.

Just for some background, I am graduating law school in May 2011 and my sister (21 now) and I (27 now) are planning/hoping to go to DLP for the first time to celebrate. I love to plan so I've started looking into things early! I looked at the website this evening for DLP and am so confused. We have traveled all over the US and to WDW many times but never out of the US. The whole different currency thing is throwing me to begin with. How is the best way to convert? Also, I am fluent in Spanish but don't speak a word of French. How English-friendly is DLP and France in general? It looks like there are special fastpasses for club level guests in the deluxe resorts. Are these worth the price to upgrade? Finally, could someone explain how the dining works (is it like the dining plan at WDW?) Any other tips would be appreciated as well. We are planning on going the third week of May and spending four days at DLP and then a couple of days in Paris before going to England, Ireland, and Scotland. Thanks!

Wow! It is hard to believe there is only 1 week to go before we fly out of Philly to the Wonderful World of Disney. I can't believe it is finally almost here considering I booked this trip back in February.

Everything is booked and has been paid for fromthe first day of booking. Almost all our packing is done. We each only have a few things left to pack. Gift Cards are prepared and TS server gratuity Christmas cards are done. Now we just have to get our house cleaned and get through Thanksgiving!!!!

PassPorter Book Browser??

I preordered the 2010 PassPorter guide and noticed in the PassPorter newsletter that I can now access it online while I am waiting for to arrive. I have tried and tried to access it but no luck. I do everything it says to do...."to access the electronic edition, look up your PassPorter Store order number (check your confirmation e-mail), login, and go to the PassPorter Book Browser (enter your order number when prompted)." Well I have the order number and did log in....but cannot find where the PassPorter Book Browser is. There is a link to the book on the page but it takes me to the Sneak Peak version of the book and says I did not enter the correct order number so cannot access it but I can't find anywhere to enter the order number. What am I doing wrong? Any help will be much appreciated!

cruising "alone"

This is our first Disney Cruise and we couldn't be more excited. We're HUGE WDW fans, but haven't done the cruise thing yet.
I know my kids (DD, 9 and DS, 12) will be busy doing their thing and having a great time. But my DH would be content to stay in the room the whole trip and sleep or watch TV.
So my question is this... will I be the only "solo" in the adult activities? Will it be too awkward for me? I'm the one that wants to go out and have fun. I'm interested in learning about the ship, the activities, cooking demos.

To start with Russell says he has painted a picture much like Picasso and it will cost a million dollars. He says he can put that check in the bank now. He and Shambo had a laugh at Laura's look when Kelly was voted out. Shambo tells Russell that Laura said he ruined everything by voting out Kelly. Laura calls Russell a snake and Shambo calls Laura a snake. Shambo mentions if she finds the idol she will give it to Russell.

Reward:Fly to the next Island Savai'i and picnic near at a water fall, Also get to take a Palm Pre phone to take pictures with.

The Players will be split in to 2 teams of 5. One will lay face down in a cradle and the other 4 will use ropes to navigate the cradle around so the player on it can grab 15 flags and put them in a stand in oder.

Yellow team: Shambo,Monica,Mick,Jaison,and in the Cradle John

Purple Team:Russell, Laura,Brett,Dave and in the Cradle Natalie

Purple won with Natalie hang off the cradle she almost fell off.

The 5 head off to the reward and stuff them selves with Hot Dogs and pie. Russell finds the clue to the idol and shares it with everyone. There is a written clue on the phone ( A Rolling Stone gathers no moss) and also a video clue(that shows someone lifting a "square" rock with moss on it and under it is the idol).

Back at camp Jaison and Mick talk to Monica about voting with them. They tell her that she would be the 6th vote but give no names to who has flipped.

When the others arrive back Russell starts looking right away for the Idol. He tells Jaison what the rock looks like and both are on the move. Dave and Laura follow them. As Russell looks at rocks Dave grabs them and turns them over. Russell challenges Dave to run with him, He loses Dave and heads back to a wall face where he thought he saw the rock. He turns a rock over reaches into a hole and finds the Idol again!!

No one knows he has found it.

Immunity Challenge: There are 2 parts to this. 1st part 3 Tiles of the same color hang in a row. With one toss of a stone the player must break as many tiles as they can to get spares. If they hit someone else's tile that person gets the spare. Mick breaks one someone hit Monica's and Brett hit 2.

Part 2 shot the spare at a target the closet to the bulls eye wins. Brett went first he hit the target on the outside, then Monica missed it and Mick hit it close to the center, Brett got to go again and hit it out of Mick's range. Mick wins.

At camp the scheming begins, The old Galu decided to vote Natalie since they figure Russell has the Idol. Monica comes up with a plan to trick the old Foa Foa and tells them she would flop but they have to vote for John. She told Brett about it but not John, Brett tells John and this upsets him(I don't blame him.) Both side are will to push the tie. Russell talks to john bout what Monica said and makes and offer if he flops. John hasn't decided yet.

At Tribal Jeff talks with them about a slit in the old tribes and about tie breakers. They vote Jeff asks about the hidden Idol and Russell doesn't play it. Jeff calls out the votes and it is a tie. They vote again but this time Laura and Natalie are not. If it is another tie then stones are drawn. Jeff reads the votes and 1 old Galu member flips Laura is gone. I guess this means Russell should keep his promise and a Foa Foa should be next. That's what he promised John.

Next week Russell is back to his old ticks and lets the chicken out. Shambo is gunning for someone (Russell maybe?) and everyone is ready to follow.

Till then Roll the stones with moss because you just don't know what's under them my Surviving peeps.

I got a phone call from my mom about an hour ago . She told me my brother got arrested again , this time i know he will be going away for a while . So my mom went on and said his ex-wife started to tell her what happend and mom said she just does not want to know , and said he is now being written off . I understand where she is comming from after his first visit of seeing him behind bars and it hurt me and mom to go see him. But i'm so confused i really agree with my mom , But he is still my brother but he needs major help first . I know the drugs he was using from what he has told me the last time and it is not the light weight stuff . This is all i need with less then 7 days before I go to my magical place . I just really wish i could just get some good news cause this stuff is starting to take it's toll on me . :(

Bone Marrow Transplant Update

So my dear friend (DVC'er) had his bone marrow transplant last Friday and so far so good. Some of our friends were even there while he was receiving the marrow! Anyway, he's doing great just bored and a bit bummed since this is the week that he's usually at WDW:(. Thanks for all the pixies and prayers, he told me he thinks it's really working!!!

I called Disney Travel yesterday to confirm what park tickets we have on our reservation since online the park ticket field said "error". About 30 minutes after getting off the phone I received an email from Disney detailing EVERYTHING on our reservation, down to all the offers that are included in the package. Is this Standard Operating Proceedure or did I just get an extremely nice and helpful cast member?

Question about ADR /DDP?

We are using the DDP on our next vacation. I have begun making ADR for Jan-Feb 2010 visit. I made 4 reservations (all online) so far & didn't have to pay a deposit or prepay anything. But, I tried making an ADR for Hoop Dee Doo, using the DDP, and it came up that I had to prepay for this meal. Just wondering how that works?? since I will be using TS meal credits for this. I know I have to use 2 credits each for this meal, and don't mind doing that as DH & I loved this meal show when we went years ago & thought the family might enjoy it this time.

On February 25, 2010, Disney's Wide World of Sports will officially become the ESPN Wide World of Sports. Among other changes, the All Star Cafe will now be known as the ESPN Wide World of Sports Grill, the new ESPN Innovation Lab (already open) is working on creating new products for TV viewers and a new broadcast center with a direct link to ESPN headquarters in Bristol, CT has been built.

Why: To create new traditions For the holiday season!

First, some background for those of you who do not know. We had a major life change on August 1, 2009 when I accepted a job promotion and we moved from MA to FL. While most of the adjustment has been fairly uneventful, there are some things that have been difficult for us all:(. Mainly, this time of year � coming into the holiday season.

Having been in MA most of my life, I have what seems to be a lifetime of family holiday traditions that simply will not fit into the FL lifestyle we are now enjoying.:no Many of them will, but some very memorable ones will not. Most of these were started when Luke was born so they are some of the most important and dear to me as a mom. Going to cut down our Christmas tree on the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, our weekend ski trips leading up to Christmas, decorating the outside of the house and enjoying it all after a beautiful snowfall, hot chocolate in front of the fireplace while watching all our holiday DVDs or reading Christmas stories to each other to name a few. Obviously one of the main elements missing for us with all of these traditions is the snow and the cold weather which we all love! No seriously, I have a family that LOVES the snow, cold weather sports, sledding, making snowmen and just taking walks through the woods after a snowfall.

So, after the amazing support of my dear friends (you know who you are:love:!) we have decided it�s time to start some new traditions so we won�t feel as homesick during this magical and spiritual time of year.

The first new tradition will be heading to WDW the weekend before Thanksgiving each year to see the start of the holiday decorations. The second will be going for four days leading up to Christmas.

This year will be especially magical because neither Keith, Luke or Brooke have ever been to WDW during this time of the year! I can�t wait to see their faces when they experience the �snow� falling, the lights, the Gingerbread House and all WDW has to offer for the season! It�ll be like seeing their faces the first time they saw the castle!

So, tomorrow Keith and I will be picking the kids up at school and heading about 150 miles south to our happy place! I will update and post pics throughout the weekend and when we get back. I�ll continue during our December trip, too.

I hope everyone enjoys our journey to creating new family traditions, and if anyone has suggestions or advice as to what to do or see, please post them!
This is our itinerary for this weekend:

Friday: We�ll arrive around 5PM, check-in and head over for the 6:30PM showing of Fantasmic!, then catch the Osborne Lights.

Saturday: We have an 8AM ADR at Hollywood & Vine (Luke and Brooke chose this), and then back to EPCOT for the day; head back to the pool around 2PM and at 4PM there will be surprise guests arriving to see the kids � stay tuned! We will head back to HS at night to see more of the lights.

Sunday: We have a 7:55AM ADR at Captain�s Grille (we�ve never had breakfast here so it�s a first, this was Keith�s choice); head to HS for the day.

We have the dining plan so we�ll grab QS meals for lunch and dinner both days, and of course the occasional Mickey Bar. Our plans are very loose for the most part. We are truly blessed to have been able to visit WDW as much as we have (the kids have over a dozen trips under their belts!) so we can sort of fly by the seats of our pants now. It�s funny though, because even having been so many times there is a LOT we haven�t seen as a family due to seasonal closures, refurbs, the ages/heights of the kids and such so each trip we still manage to do or see something new as a group which is always exciting:D.

We will save the December trip for touring the resorts, MK and AK to see all the decorations.

We've been to MVMCP twice and MNSSHP once. We are getting annual passes this year for our trip in March and we were planning another trip in October to do MNSSHP again. Now DH is back and forth between the Halloween and Christmas parties. :crazy: What he'd really like to do is both, but looking at the dates for the parties this year we would really need to be there for about two weeks. Our DD will be in middle school next year and I am worried enough about taking her out for one week. As much as I would love to go to Disney for 2 weeks, it just really isn't do-able.

So Zack had preview night for the fall musical last night and we were late getting home. The puppy had been stuck inside for a LONG time and was absolutely beside himself to see us. He was hopping around, running in circles, jumping on and off the bed; generally acting crazy. I bent over to pick something up at the same moment that Barnaby Jones was launching himself torpedo style onto Z's bed. His little puppy skull cracked hard into the side of my head to the point of tears on my part (puppy seemed just fine :tongue:) It's nearly midnight, I've got an egg-sized lump developing, I'm starting to feel nauseous, and I'm convinced that I'm going to drop dead of a subdural hematoma. Who gets a freakin' concussion from their puppy? Krazy Karen that's who! I stayed up until about 1AM wondering if they'd cancel Thursday night's performance if I was found dead the following morning. Drama, drama, drama for the West Coast drama queen! :D

Another Severe Weather Warning!!!

:( We are under yet another Severe Weather Warning!!! Something like our fourth in the last seven days or so!

We are used to lots of rain here in Wales, but the last few days have been just plain silly!

Extremely heavy rain coupled with winds of up to 60MPH are making things difficult on the roads, the local rivers are already swollen to almost bursting point, and I just saw my empty plastic trash can take off and land at the bottom of our garden!!!

This is our first winter in our "new" bungalow, so I really do hope the roof is as sturdy as we've been told it is by the seller!!!

Pixies for anyone who has to work outside in this or gets caught in it!!!

The dreaded day has finally come... tomorrow I start my chemo. After a wonderful Disney vacation, I had to sink back into the harsh reality of completing my breast cancer treatment. I had my port put in on Monday, and tomorrow morning I'm off to my first treatment. I'll be getting one every three weeks, for a total of four treatments. If all goes well, I'll be done by the end of January.

Naturally I'm very anxious and uptight about the weeks and months to come, especially all of the side effects. On the bright side, I suppose I'll save a few bucks on expensive hair products! I have a cute wig all ready to go, so I'll survive.

Please wish me luck! I could use all the pixies I can get!

Flying with G-tube and pump feedings

Has anyone flown with a g-tube recently?

I understand the airlines will not consider a feeding pump in a backpack to be part of the passenger's baggage allowance, but how do you manage a continuous feeding? Will the TSA allow a feeding to be infusing while going through the security check and while flying?

I'll talk to home health about this question, but I assume we'll travel with the pump they provide us, rather than renting one when we get there... But what about the formula, bags and tubing, as well as syringes for flushes? -- do we take that, or arrange it to be delivered to the resort by an agency in Orlando?

This is new territory for us!! Thanks for any light you can shed on our path!

background: As most of you knowJamie & Brendan both play tuba in their high school band, Jamieis section leader. Every year the band director holds a deorate your tuba contest.. when Jamie was a freshman he won for hving Santa going down the chimney (bell of tuba) we even used some old fireplace decorations.. really cute! Last year Jamie did't put his heart into it & let his GF do it & she did a felt snowman (ugly)

Brendan did a "Christmas story' theme complete with wooden leg lamp, it was put together quick & looked like it too!

neither won!

This year they want to do Snow miser & heat miser.. I think we've got the basics down but would appreciate any advice on how to make it work..
I was thinking white & red fur for their hair & their face on the tuba bell.. or is that too much face?? & if not.. how do I do that? I was going to take the face to Kinkos & have them enlarge it??
would love to hear your ideas on tweaking it or even if you've got a BETTER idea.. I'm all ears...

Oversized bag - how strict are the airlines about enforcing?

When we have used it in the past few years, they have always let it get by as long as we were under 50#s. How strict are they about size these days? I would prefer not to chance it. DH says they will take it without extra charges.

Delta changed our flights

We received an email this morning that Delta has changed our flights on both ends of the trip. The flights they had given us were terrible. The flight down had us missing our first ADR and the flight back was real early. They didn't even have us sitting together on the return flight. Fortunately I was able to change these and we are now arriving earlier and leaving later than our original flights which is OK. They only bad part is we are flying out of Cincinnati at 9am. That is way early but it means we can now look at getting an ADR for lunch somewhere.

It all worked out thanks to the person I talked to at Delta (and I didn't even have to get angry about it). I just hope that the flights won't change again. We have never flown Delta before and have never had a flight changed with the other airlines we have flown before. It just makes us a little nervous now when we thought everything was ready to go for the trip.

Guess now I need to call Disney and let them now our flight info has changed for the DME.

To stroller or not to stroller for big kids

Hi! We're taking our first Disney vacation in early March with 2 kids, who will be 7 1/2 and 5. I'm debating what to do about a stroller. Rent, bring, single, double, or skip it all together. We'll be there for 8 nights. They'll probably want to walk quite a bit, but as the day and week goes on will probably want more breaks from walking, especially the 5 year old. For people with kids around the same age, what are your recommendations? Thanks!

Don't worry too much. It seems like a mild case. I just thought I'd share how awesome my ten year old is. The doctor told me first and then came into the room and told Allie that she had H1N1 and then asked if she knew what that meant.

Allie immediately shook her fist in the air and said "Stooopid Pigs!" The doctor almost fell off her chair from laughter. That's my girl! hahaha it was so funny.

Then on the way home, Allie says "Daddy, I have this sudden urge to eat a pile of bacon. Does that mean I'm a cannibal now?" LOL!!!

She might be the funniest 10 year old I know.

We are going April 24-30. My wife, myself, DD(4) and DS(7). We have ADR's at
Spirit of Aloha, Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's and Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus. When I booked the ADR's the CM asked me if we were celebrating anything. I told her my son's birthday was the next week(May 7) and she wrote it on our reservations. Except the one for Akershus, only because I told her not to. Now I think my DD may be jealous if she doesn't have a celebration of her own.
What can I put for a celebration for her at the Akershus breakfast so she has a celebration for her? Her birthday is in January.

I can't believe we're down to only 8 days before we leave!! How exciting! I made up special goodie bags yesterday for the plane ride and pulled out all the suitcases. The exhausting part is deciding what clothes to bring! I made copies of all of our park tickets (just in case they somehow get lost), filled out the luggage tags, and tonight will make up the actual packing list. I'm a little confused. It seems that all the pictures I see (and videos I look at on You Tube), the 2 bedroom is set up differently. I know that you can have a dedicated 2 bedroom where you have 2 beds in the second room or you can have a 2 bedroom which is really a 1 bedroom with a studio attached. My question relates to the kitchen area. In some pictures of floorplans you see an island with stools and then in other pictures you just see an island. What is the difference? Are there more difference that that? I reserved a dedicated 2 bedroom for our stay so we would get the second bedroom with 2 beds. We all need our space LOL.

I have in my notes that the Pirate and Pals Fireworks cruise from the Contemporary is able to be booked 90 days in advance.

I have in my notes that the Pirate Adventure cruises (kiddie cruises) are able to be booked 180 days in advance.

I also have in my notes, NO NOTE as to when the Pirate league can be booked.

NOW, for the confusion:crazy:.....on my "booking dates" page, I have these listed for 180 days: The kiddie pirate cruise (which matches my notes), and the Pirate and Pals fireworks cruise......you see my issue?

I also have the Pirate League under the 90 day heading.....I think I have too many thoughts of the piratical nature to keep them straight anymore!!!:crazy:

We're travelling to Dallas in a couple of weeks, and I'm trying to find a reliable transportation company to rent either a large van or a limo to get us from the airport (DFW) to our hotel.

I went to the airport's website for a list of their recommended companies and it's about 6 pages long - they sure recommend a lot of companies!

Does anyone know of, or in the off chance that maybe someone has used, a good company to schlep some tired women and their Irish Dancing daughters to their hotel? And believe me, we've sunk so much money into dancing, I'm not necessarily looking for the cheapest company - just a reliable one. What's a few more dollars at this point???:p

The Famed Burled Arch that is the end of the Iditarod - they move it out to the center of the road to mark the finish line.

The locals claim this is the largest gold pan in the world, but I hear there is one larger in Canada somewhere. The three statues are the Three Lucky Swedes....they disccovered gold on the beaches 'round here.

These are just a few of the musk ox from the herd the Chief managed to find for me to take pics of!! Been in AK since 1969 and had never seen them in the wild!!

Just checked the forecast for Thanksgiving week. While warm (a good thing) lots of showers/thundershowers are predicted. We have ponchos from a trip to Universal Studios Hollywood a few years ago (torrential rains!).
What else would you recommend?
Is it better to walk in sandals (tevas or crocs) or running shoes?

Hi everybody,

We heading to WDW in 14 days. First time for all of us. I have a profoundly deaf daughter wearing bilateral cochlear implants. The new generation of behind-the-ear processors are splash resistant, but by no mean waterproof! I was wondering which attractions to stay away from. A little spray is ok, like she can be in the rain and it's no problem, but she can't shower or swim with them. She hates to remove them although she can read lips ok and talk clearly without them...

All of you who have been there before, what should we stay away from?

DME Just 1 Way??

Can you use DME for only 1 way? I'm hoping to fly this summer and was wondering if you use DME do you have to use it for roundtrip or can you use it for 1 way only. I was wanting to use quicksilver or some other transportation service to get to our hotel and just use DME when we headed back to the airport.

This past September was my 1st experience with DME and I thought it took a little too long for us to get to our resort. Granted the lines were continuously moving and I didn't know what to expect but it did seem overly long. Coming back to the airport was a lot quicker and the process didn't seem to take as long either.

Need advice on a romantic dinner!

December WDW Photowalk

I am co-hosting a WDW photowalk during the second weekend in December. If you are in Disney World, have your camera with you and a couple of hours to spare, you're welcome to join us.

The exact date, time and place has not been determined because I came up with several possibilities and decided to let the participants vote for the one they want to do. I tried to avoid conflicts with other meets as much as possible. If you are interested, look over the options and vote for the one that fits your schedule.

1. Friday, Dec. 11, 8:30 - 11 am: Christmas walk and ride
Meet at the Polynesian and shoot the Christmas decorations there. Take the monorail to the Grand Floridian to see the giant Christmas tree and full-size gingerbread house in the lobby. Ride the monorail to the TTC and transfer to the Epcot monorail. Shoot the Epcot decorations from the monorail, and finish up in time for WDW Today's Grand and Glorious meet.

2. Monday, Dec. 14, 9 - 11 am: Animal Kingdom
Exact route to be determined, because there is sooooo much to shoot at AK. We definitely want to try to see Divine. Monday is morning EMH, so you have time to grab a ride on Expedition Everest before the photowalk.

3. Thursday, Dec. 10, 1 - 2:30 pm: Tom Sawyer Island
Meet near the boat to TSI, ride across and wander around shooting anything that catches your eye. Take the boat back to the mainland and head to Aloha Isle for the Dole Whip meet.

4. Friday, Dec. 11, 9 - 11 am: Futureworld
Meet near the lockers on the west side of Spaceship Earth. Wailk to the Seas, Land and Imagination pavilions. Possible side trips: Drop by Sunshine Seasons to do a paparazzi on Mike Newell; detour through the breezeway to see the Jammitors. Finish back at Spaceship Earth for WDW Today's Grand and Glorious meet.

Child ID tags??

Could anyone give me some suggestions on child ID tags? I'm not sure my DD who is 2, will let me hang one around her neck. So I was thinking about the ones that attach to their shoes maybe? Not real keen on the printed shirt ones either. I hope to find something that is pretty obvious but not so distracting that she would pull on it and try to rip it off.
Now trust me........ I plan on having quite a firm grip on her while she is not in her stroller;). However she is it at that perfect "wiggle, squirm, take off and run to the high heavens age" if ya know what I mean:smirk:.

Oh and BTW...........guess who got some Disney mail today????? That's right......this gal!!:D Can you tell I'm excited????

Halloween 2010

Ok...I know I haven't posted for awhile. We went on our Disney Cruise in April and it was great. We all had an amazing time. Since then Ive been going through Disney withdrawl.

So what do I do when that happens?? Book my next Disney adventure.

We haven't been to the parks since 2007 so I am extremely excited. Im also excited because I have booked the last week of October and the first week of November.

We have never been to Disney during Halloween and to say the least I am SUPER excited. I know its along way away but I had to tell somebody.

We are planning on surprising the kids for Christmas. I have printed off our reservations and I ordered two Halloween Disney pins for their lanyards. The tough part is going to be not telling them and keeping the secret for Christmas. Its killing me already and I just booked the trip yesterday.

Hence, I am telling you all in place of telling them. Please send me pixies that I can keep my mouth shut and surprise them. lol

you know the kind. The long 12 to 18 inch ones that are so thick that they come with their own sharpener. We bought one for Abby last year that she loves but she mentioned to me tonight that we didn't buy any this year when we went. I was thinking with Christmas coming, these pencils from Disney World would make a great and surprising stocking stuffer for her. I just don't want to sound like an idiot though calling Disney Merchandising and trying to describe it, especially since I don't know if they have them this year or what designs they might have. So for anyone going in the near future, would anyone be willing to maybe get me an item number or UPC code from them or maybe even pictures so at least I'd have an idea of what to tell them? And is the Disney merchandise number in the sticky the correct one (407-363-6200)?? It doesn't seem right for some reason and I'm afraid to admit I'm too lazy tonight to search for it elsewhere.

Christmas Tree advice needed: real or artificial?

I didn't bring our tree from home when we moved thinking hubby might put it up for himself. I bought a pre-lit tree this year as I am a bit obsessed about lighting the tree and do a very good job of it (did it for a department store one year even!). It is time-consuming, however, so I opted to buy a pre-lit thinking they were lit as carefully as I do it. I wasn't having any success locally so I ordered one online. The kind I really wanted only came in a 6.5 foot version (he have 10-12 foot ceilings here). The lighting job is HORRIBLE and I will be returning it just for that (wires stretched when the branches are down, complete safety fail).

Here's the thing, should I buy another artificial tree and suck it up and light it myself even though it will be short for the room or should I splurge this year for a REAL tree that is taller? DDs have never had a real tree, so I'm leaning that direction, but I haven't bought one in 15 years, so I don't have any idea how much I'm looking at. I've browsed some websites and won't be able to do a cut-your-own here in FL, I'm very particular about the kind of tree and don't care for varieties that grow locally. I'm a Frasier Fir kinda gal. ;)

Hi, everyone! I (finally) booked my cruise last night, so I thought I'd get the excitement going with a pre-trip report! I'm so excited! The cast of characters is as follows:

Me: Imaginationsetfree. 26 years old and lover of all things Disney. :wave:

And...that's it! The idea for this solo trip has evolved over quite some time, so I'm so excited that I'm actually booked and planning everything! I took my first solo trip to Disney World last year - I decided that after having a pretty tough year that I needed a chance to get away from everyday life. So, I took a glorious two week trip to Disney World. I was a little apprehensive at first, but I couldn't have been happier that I did it. I loved doing what I wanted, whenever I wanted! It was exactly what I needed. Once I got back, I started daydreaming about my next Disney trip (hey, it's the only thing that can get me through my post-Disney blues!).

Originally, my sister (who is a former cast member and came with me a few years ago on my first Disney trip in 15 years) and I had tossed up the idea of doing a land and sea Disney vacation sometime in 2010. We had talked about it, but it ended up not working out. I had done a lot of cruise research, so I still considered doing it. I was a little more apprehensive about cruising alone - I wasn't sure if that was going a little too far out of my comfort zone by doing it. But I thought a lot about my previous solo trip, and also had a good conversation with a friend who has done TONS of solo travelling. His basic advice was "If you really want to do something, you have to be willing to do it yourself. It's the only way you will truly get to see and do everything you want in life."

I took his advice, and started "pre-planning" my Disney cruise solo trip. I did a lot of research, and finally decided that (a) I wanted to travel sometime during the winter (because the Caribbean is so much more appealing when it's freezing cold!) and (b) that I wanted to take the Western Caribbean cruise. Going on that, I decided on the February 20, 2010 Western Caribbean cruise. I also decided that I wanted to take a week following the cruise, and spend it in Disney World. (hey, if I'm travelling solo, I want to do EVERYTHING!)

The next challenge was facing the fact that I knew exactly what I wanted, but had to wait to book. My work has us "bid" for time off, meaning that I had to wait to be sure my time off would be approved before I could cast anything in stone. I am NOT a patient person, so I tried my hardest to wait while in the meantime keeping myself occupied reading the trip reports here.

Finally, I got the glorious email from work - PTO bidding had opened up, and before I knew it, I had my time off for the cruise approved! I have to wait a bit longer before I find out if the week after the cruise is approved, but I decided that I would take the cruise regardless of whether or not I can take the week in WDW afterwards. I emailed Tammy (from Kingdom Konsultants who was AMAZINGLY helpful!) and before I knew it, I was booked! February 20, Western Caribbean, cat. 12 stateroom. Wheeeeeeeee!!!!!! :woot:

So, now that the big planning/booking is out of the way, there's lots of little planning still to do. Here's what's coming up:

Palo reservation: Another bit of overcoming the "should I do ____ as a solo traveler?" I was a bit concerned that the atmosphere of Palo would be a bit too sophisticated and romantic for me alone. After thinking, I decided that if I can get a reservation I'm going to go for it. A solo trip is not for deciding whether or not you should do something - it's for DOING what you want! :waytogo:

Shore excursions:

Key West: no plans to book anything here - I want to do some sightseeing, but it's all stuff I can do on my own. I plan to visit the Southernmost Point, the Key West Lighthouse and Keeper's Quarters Museum (I love lighthouses), and also plan on stopping in to the Hard Rock Cafe to add a pin to my collection.

Cozumel: I'm tossing up a few ideas here. I started thinking about XCaret, but decided against it. Now I'm thinking about just doing the beach break and a little shopping. I'm thinking it would be nice to get off the ship for a bit any enjoy the beach, but also get back to the ship early enough to enjoy it during the slower time.

Grand Cayman Island: Dolphin extreme swim.

Castaway Cay: Cataway Cay 5k (I'm a new runner, working through a "Couch to 5k" program), and then just looking to relax -chill out at Serenity Bay, get float rental, etc.

Thanks for all the pixies. They seem to be working!! :) Ethan had surgery last evening to remove the mass from his brain stem. It turned out to be some solid mass enclosed in fluid. I am told this is a good sign. The doctor has sent the mass to St. Jude for testing, but she felt fairly confident that it was benign. Ethan is doing fine and his parents are holding up well. He was to have another MRI this afternoon to see if they got all the mass as they believe. Please keep the pixies coming for a speedy and uneventful recovery for Ethan.

Looks like Disney World is going to have more competition but its not going to be a pushover for them like Universal. This is Dubailand. The largest entertainment and theme park complex on the planet or at least when it opens. Measured to be twice the size of Walt Disney World. You have to look at the models to believe it :eek:. Now I am not going to the middle east to visit a theme park due to the easily apparent conflicts going on there. Even though this project is the most tempting thing I have ever laid my eyes on.

Beaches and Cream??

I am taking my niece to WDW in May when she gets out of school and there is one place she has wanted to go to if she ever got to go to Disney, it is Beaches nad Cream. In all the times I have gone I have never been there so I don't know much about it. She saw it on the Travel Channel and it talked about the Kitchen Sink and the food, but can anyone tell me of their experiences? Did you like it, love it or not really?

Also how do I get there from the Boardwalk? I can't believe that I am stumped on this one. :confused:

I am traveling with a party of 14. 7 of them are kids ranging from 6 to 15. I know the kids clubs are arranged by age but what is the likelihood that I could get 3 of the kids (boys 7, 7 & 8) in the same kids club? 2 of them are cousins and they are all best friends. The 2 7 year olds are half a year younger than the 8 year old. Do you think they could move the 8 year old down?

I had my own trading lanyard at DLR in Feb -- mostly so I didn't hover over her and encourage her to trade for pins I wanted! IYKWIM!
DH has said he'd like a few pins to trade on our upcoming trip -- if we're going to, he wants to play too. But he wants to have a theme in mind.
I suggested villians, but he wasn't amused!;)
What are some "manly" pin themes you can suggest? He doesn't really have a favorite Disney character. I was going to suggest he look for "space" themed pins, but if it's a topic that's too hard to find it won't be as much fun for a beginner.

DD has a few pins that I don't think are "legit" traders -- though she did get them from CMs. They say Disney on the back, but aren't the same quality as the pins you buy in the park.
Anyway, we were thinking of taking them to WDW as "pass along" magic. You know how sometimes you see really little kids with pin lanyards. Or the preschoolers in their princess dresses. I think it would be nice for DD to give one of those kids a princess pin. Just to make their day.
Do you think that would be okay? Or should we just throw them away and take them out of circulation?

Air Travel Question AirCanada vs. WestJet

So a question for my Canadian friends (or those who have travelled Air Canada or West Jet).

Long story short - There have been numerous screw ups with my West Jet reservation to MCO. I've had my flight changed TWICE by them now (although the last change gave me an extra day at Disney, but cost my another night at POP) and I'm just really paranoid about something screwing up on the day I fly. I am very much pro Air Canada and have flown 6 legs with them this summer alone with zero hiccups...Because of a good seat sale I ended up booking the flight TO orlando with West Jet and the flight BACK to Toronto with Air Canada. But now I see that I can book the Air Canada for the same price as the West Jet flight ( now I won't get a refund but I will have a credit that either me or fiancee can use in the future)

WWYD? Would you keep the West Jet flight or go with Air Canada

When do you put up your Christmas Tree?

We "normally" put ours up the first weekend in December and take it down on the traditional "Twelfth Night".

This year, because we'll be at WDW between 30NOV09 and 14DEC09, we've decided to put the tree up early! Which means DD gets to enjoy it for longer (she just sits and looks at it!!) and we won't have to rush so much when we get back.

Actually, we've just this minute finished!! and it looks quite good even if I do say so myself!! :D

When do you usually put your tree up? Do you have any "family traditions" relating to the tree?

We are considering renting a car for our trip to the World and our Disney cruise in May.

We have no experience with parking at Port Canaveral. Is parking always available? I called DCL and was told $15 per day - is there ever a case where the lot is full and you have to park somewhere else - if there even is anywhere else? Being from NYC, I always have concerns about parking availability, and would not want any problems, especially since we are traveling with 3 kids, 1 of whom is a toddler :crazy:

Just a little info to get you familiar with our family:

WHO:
Me ~ (age 44) Third trip to WDW, second stay at a WDW resort (CSR last time). The planner for our group and biggest fan :thewave:( in our family ) of all things Disney!!
My dad (who by the way just doesn�t get the whole Disney Magic idea & thinks I'm nuts) keeps reminding me �It�s only make believe!") Hmm� that�s what he thinks, huh?!!!:p

DH ~ (age 47) Third trip to WDW, second stay at a WDW resort. Not interested in doing any of the planning (actually thinks I�m a little obsessed with planning) but really enjoys our �schedule of events� when we get there. (Isn�t it amazing how some /(most) men think it all just magically comes together?�.kind of like how everyone gets the perfect gift for Christmas & they do none of the planning/shopping for it??) :foreheadslap: But in all fairness, I must say DH does get excited when I tell him the plans I've made each day!

DS(21) ~ Second trip to WDW, first trip was �06, Senior Trip Grad Night!! (stayed at POP). So, this will be our first �family vacation in Disney�. Not fully convinced he really wants to commit to going (works away from home-travels a lot) but says he�s going, just doesn�t want to be bothered :nono: with planning or the details until we are on our way there. Will enjoy himself, he always does once he gets anywhere, just doesn�t like to plan. That�s okay��you got mom to take care of that!

DS(14) ~ Second trip to WDW, second stay at a WDW resort. Had an awesome first trip , excited to go back (especially with older brother this time!). :woot:

Last month, I posted if anyone knew how to keep my kittens from jumping on my dining table. I had a lot of responses saying if I found a way to let them know. Well, I found it. It's a product called Sccaat that I picked up at Petsmart for about $30. It's a motion detector on a can of condensed air that sprays at the cat when activated. I used it last monday and the cats have yet to go back on the table. They were a bit freaked out for a few days, but are now back to normal. I'm also using it in the morning as the cats are not allowed in our bedroom (I'm allergic). One will sit in front of the door and meow like crazy/scratch trying to wake us up at 5:30am. My last cat did that her whole life and I don't want this to become a habit. I'd like to sleep in now and again. So far, so good.

Two years ago I had a little girl in my 2nd grade class. Her mom is a DVC member, and quite often we talk Disney. She's going next week, and we're going in Dec. Really Strange Question

SO my MIL emails me yesterday afternoon, and says that FIL has thrown his back out again. :( He had surgery a year ago next week, but still has been having a lot of problems. Dr. thinks it is something to do with nerves. He can't sleep well in a bed, and has been sleeping in the recliner in his office. Soooo.....how in the world is this going to work, esp. at Pop??? I tried to talk them into upgrading to a 1 bdm DVC, but there is nothing, and I mean NOTHING available for our dates. (And it might not really help in the situation anyway.) :(

Which leads me to my question: has anyone ever heard of renting a recliner? FIL is definitely renting a scooter, and I was looking at Buena Vista Scooter's website (I think they are a sponsor here on the boards??) and they have lift recliners for rent. This would solve the problem, but do you think there would be a place to put a recliner in the rooms at Pop? If not, what about the rooms at CBR? I wonder if this is even allowed in the resorts, but then again why would they have them for rent and advertise free delivery to Disney property if it's not? :confused: Has anyone used Buena Vista Scooters, are they a reliable company? FIL really wants to make the trip, and I'm gonna do everything I can to find a solution that makes things easier on him.

I have been using the dining plan since it became available and we love it. Paying in advance for everything we can makes things alot easier.

I can't remember where I saw it, but I thought I remembered reading that if you were doing the Candlelight Processional dinner package that you also had some kind of reserved seating for Illuminations. Does anyone know for sure? I didn't want to put all my planning on that and it not be true since our CP is not until our last night at Disney. Needed to see if I should plan on illuminations another night, because our CP isn't until 8;15

Pretty cool, we weren't even really paying attention and suddenly a 40 foot shirtless Sawyer was running towards me! The bulk of the "preview" was a synopsis of last season, but yes, a glimpse of what to expect next season was confirmed. And it's not what I wanted to happen...

I'm not enjoying planning my trip right now. We've got a 7-night cruise booked in March, and I want to tack on a day at the front and a couple days afterwards. Any decent itinerary is about $900 pp! I've been hoping that they'll come down, and I know that this is a little early. My only fear is that the day that my final payment on the cruise is due will come and go without any lower fares!! My DH will have a cow about this trip if I get stuck paying $2700 for tickets! I can't even imagine. :mad:

I'm thinking about canceling or rebooking for later. :( My girls would be very unhappy as this would be our third time booking a cruise without ever taking one. It just stinks.

Any suggestions? I check the search engines religiously. We'd fly out of Anchorage on March 4th or early the 5th, to return on the 15th or 16th. I've never travelled over spring break before, and I'm thinking that the fares aren't going to budge because of that. I'm just so sick of worrying about this!!!:confused:

Hi all. We are here at WDW at our long awaited vacation. I will do my best to do a full trip report when we return but I wanted to share a few things about our trip so far. I don't have any pics yet because I am using DH's laptop and not our home computer:(. We arrived on Saturday, early on Southwest. The kids did great on the plane and even during our layover in Birmingham. We were flying standby on friend passes so I was so excited we got here when we did. After picking up the mini-van and loading up we were off on our adventure! We first went to Pop Century to pick up a stroller that was waiting for us. After a little confusion we found it and were on our way. We are staying at Windsor Hills resort in a rental 3bdr./3bath townhouse. The house itself is very nice with a very comfy feel. I will share pics and more on WH when I write my report. So, on Sunday we went to Epcot. We had an 8:10am breakfast ressie with the princesses and arrived in just enough time to get across the park to check in. The breakfast was very nice. My DD almost burst when she saw Belle! Her face when she looked around the corner and said "Mommy there is a princess in there!!" was priceless. After breakfast we went to do Soarin' which had about a 20 min wait. That was the longest wait all day for us. The crowds were great! After Soarin' we did Nemo, Turtle Talk, Soarin' again, the protect the earth thing with Simba, and Living with the land. We went out and saw the Jamminators and then went to Innovations. We were only there a short time so that we could get our Disney Visa picture. Then (about 2pm) we went back to WH for a break. We went back to Epcot at 5pmish for dinner and Illuminations. My DH met a cast member and he sprinkled a little pixie dust on us. We were able to watch Illuminations from a great closed to the public location :D. It was awesome. Somewhere around 9:30 we dragged ourselves in to WH to get to bed. Truly a great 1st day at Disney!

Another KTTW Question

When we go to the world in May, Margo and I want to be able to charge on the KTTW card. Can we get different charging priviliges on each card or are both tied to the same account? We each want to use separate credit cards and don't want to co-mingle these funds.

I am so glad I am back.... I am in UIL this year and I have found out that I am on the two things I had signed up for originally.
The reason I say that is because when I started at Shiner Junior High school, I met a guy and after a while things happened that I am not going to explain, anyway the guy convenced me to do science until the the things that happened. (I did talk to mom about it, so no worries)

However, here are my results:
Calculator- I am on the team and placed sixth
Math- did not place (mostly from a different school) and made the team as alternate.

Tutto Italia - awful

If you get terrible service or food - complain. For lunch on 11/12 we dined at Tutto Italia. The food was the worse we've ever had at WDW and the service was awful.

First, our waiter had the worst breath I've run into in my memory and he'd get right in our faces. Minor thing, we requested some butter - never got it. Nancy's food was burnt and you could tell they tried to hid it. My sandwich turned out to be the most awful ham and cheese basically. To top it off we sat near the servers station and watched them make fun of quests. We would hear Italian with "Amerikano" accompanied by pointing at guests and laughing. Nancy was fumming when we left and got the info on their corporate headquarters in Calif. Upon our return home she fired off an email.

Today we got a reply offering to refund our money and asking for the guest check so that the staff could be tracked down.

We had planned to spend New Year's Eve in Orlando doing Universal stuff, but then I got an impulsive whim to do a Disney cruise. So, two days later, hubby and I are booked on the Wonder with a non-refundable deposit!!!

I feel kind of crazed because I normally plan way ahead and there is no time to do so! We have been to Nassau numerous times and plan to just hang out at Senor Frogs this time around. We've already booked Palo for the 11:30 champagne brunch (perfect, we can eat it for lunch) and for 6:00 on our last night (yuck, but that was all they had left).

A few questions, if you don't mind:

1. I think I want to try to change Palo dinner. I don't want to miss Artist's Point or Triton's. I'm confused about the dining rotation. Is the "repeat" dining experience the last night (I.E. PLAP) or the third night? (I.E. LPPA) I've read material saying either way.

2. This trip is a budget-buster for us, so we are saving on expenses. What is FREE or CHEAP and fun to do at Castaway Cay?

3. Anything else we need to book/plan ahead for?

4. We want to go to the Space Center the day we disembark. What time can we reasonably expect to be off and at our car?

Any other advice would also be appreciated. We are five-time Carnival, two-time Princess, and one-time Royal Caribbean veterans so we are familiar with the basic cruise stuff.

I just saw these near the $1 section at my Target store.

Now... they weren't properly marked, but they were on the shelves where others items were $2.50 each. I'm not sure what they were priced at, but they are certainly appropriate for decorating a resort room -- they even have a little stand.

They came in green and white and blue.

They need to be fluffed, decorated and staged, but they were definitely nicer than the ones I saw at the Dollar Stores.

Concierge Food

I was just wondering if the concierge food supplement a meal if you are on the dining plan. We will be on the regular dining plan so of course there will be PLENTY of food each day, but I was thinking if there were a couple days we could just do a quick service, our snack and then munch on the concierge food if that would be enough. I was thinking this so that I could for a couple days take those extra table service meals and dine at a more expensive rest. that requires 2 dining credits. Just curious. We have never stayed at the concierge before so I am not quite sure what to expect. We will be at the WL honeymoon suite level...I am not sure if that makes a difference.

St. Thomas/Coral World on your own?

We're very interested in Coral World - so much so that we'd rather not be limited by DCL excursion timelines. (We've annual passholders at our state aquariums, and spend at least 3-4 hours at them when we visit. And DD really wants to see some coral!)

Has anyone done Coral World on their own? Where would we catch a cab? About how much would it be for a party of 4? Is it simple getting a cab back to the port? What else do I need to consider?

I was reading the post on senior year expenses and I am curious.

I managed to get three children through 12 years of public school and never had to pay a fee to the school. We did have to pay small amounts for some extra field trips through the gifted and talented program. I know some schools are charging a fee to play sports but I believe it is nominal.

So what are "school fees" people have spoken about? I'm also wondering if this is a regional thing. and what happens if you can't afford them?

My boyfriend and I were at Disney in October. We saw two men wearing a watch that we can't find anywhere. We asked one of them where he got it and he just said it was a gift. It had a gold face with Mickey on it, and the band was a tannish/gold colored nylon. We looked in every store that carried watches in all of the parks and in Downtown Disney and never spotted one like it.

Does anyone know who made this watch and where I could find one?

My DS (the SAILOR) arrived home over the weekend after 6 months at Great Lakes Naval in Illinois. He will be home for Thanksgiving then goes to Japan....He has to be there December 4th......so we will celebrate his birthday (Dec 18) and Christmas right after Thanksgiving......He looks wonderful and is really happy to be able to visit with family and friends.......and is so excited about Japan... We returned home last night from Vegas only to find out that my dad has prostate cancer. He got the results of a biopsy done last week before we left. He says that the tumor is very small - about the size of a BB. :cry2::cry2:It was caught very early and his doctor does not want to do surgery now because it is so small. The plan I think is just to closely monitor it. My sister works in the medical field so she is getting info for him on possible noninvasive methods of treating it. I know it has scared him and my mom and any pixies that you can spare for him would be appreciated.

I wanted to share this in case anyone else has a question about how to do ADRs with a "room only" booking.

We have a "room only" reservation for our first night, and then the package with dining starts the next day.

Today was my 180 day window for the "room only". I made ADRs online and got everything I wanted.

Then I telephoned to book the Fantasmic Dining Package. It caused a lot of confusion and I ended up in a conference call!

They decided it was because I need to have the dining package to book Fantasmic Dining Package; but I was booking in today with a "room only."

My package-with-dining starts the NEXT day, so I am supposed to call TOMORROW morning to book the Fantasmic Dining.

WHEW! The ladies were very nice, I have to say that!

My sister, my two girls (8 & 3) and I will be going on our second western cruise on Feb 20, 2010. I am looking for some tips on doing some excusrions ourselves. Last time, we did it through Disney and felt we just paid too much. So I am willing to do some legwork to save some money.

Key West -- I am thinking about renting one of those little cars with GPS for the day. Has anybody done this? How much? Do I need to think about a car seat for my 3 year old? Where should we go?

Cozumel -- We swam with the dolphins last year and it was great. Now I am just thinking about some quiet time at the beach. Which would be a good one with kids? Light surf etc.

Grand Cayman -- I went there many years ago and would like to go to Rum Point again. No need to swim with the stingrays. Any ideas about how to get there? I do know that it is a bit of a drive, but how much?

Thanks for any info. We are looking forward to cruising again, but we would like to try something different as well this time.

I tried reading the sticky but found it confusing for my particular situation. I'm not sure if I need to get one or not and thought my fellow passporters with experience in this area would be able to help me.

As you know from my previous posts, I have stress fractures in my legs, 3 in total. It happened at the start of October but I didn't actually get the diagnosis until the end of October. I have one in my right leg which isn't too bad and I can put weight on it without issue. I have 2 stress fractures in my left shin bone. 1 in the upper third, which is further along in the healing process, and 1 in the lower third, which is the more painful of two and the one which is the worse fracture. It is for this reason that I have a walking cast on my left leg. I have had the cast since the end of October and I will have the cast until just after I return from my trip to WDW which takes place December 1 -9, 2009.

It is because of the cast that I have opted to rent an ECV for the entire length of my stay to assist me in getting around WDW. The cast not only adds about 5 - 10 additional pounds to the weight of my left leg but it stunts the way in which I walk which puts pressure on my knees and hips after an extended period of time. So the ECV will assist me by allowing me to get around WDW without the need to walk.

My question is will I need to get a Guest Assistance Card as well? I have needed one in the past as I have no issues that would require the use of one. Even though I am renting an ECV, I am more than able to transfer out of it into the ride vehicles, with assistance from my mother, who is travelling with me, when necessary, like if I have to step down into the ride, as I cannot bend my ankle when wearing the cast and my foot turnover is not very good. It is obvious that I am wearing a cast on my leg, especially if I am in shorts, but even if I am wearing long pants, as it doesn't look anything like running shoe. But then I know that people tend not to be very observant of things, as I've noticed in the few weeks of wearing the cast.

Would having a cast on my leg/foot warrant the use of a Guest Assistant Card?:confused:

Palo for first night??

DH and I were going to forgo Palo for this cruise because it is our first and he didn't want to miss any of our dinner rotations or have to rush back to the boat for an early seating. However I was able to snag a reservation for our first night (Port Canaveral) at 6pm. This way we can enjoy Palo and then go to our late seating if we choose to for a light 2nd dinner/dessert or order some room service.

Is this a good idea or should I nix the Palo idea all together?

Hi all!

We are planning a July 2010 trip to the "World". My daughter will be competing in a dance competion being held at the Hilton Walt Disney World. While we are used to (and would rather) staying in a WDW resort hotel, we are staying at the Hilton. Someone had mentioned that there are discount tickets sold after a certain time, Disney Guest Services does not do this but we were told some hotels do.

Has anyone heard of this? And do you know if the Hilton participates?

The reason I ask is because we won't be able to get to the parks until after 3PM, so rather then waste $$$ on a full day ticket, these discount tickets might be the way to go for us.

So I want to know which resort to look into? As awesome as Bay Lake is, it's really not my style. I'd prefer Wilderness Villas but I'm pretty sure it's sold out. What other resorts would you recommend?

I hate Saratoga but would love Old Key West.

Being from NJ, it is chilly already so what should I pack for Disney? Are capri's OK? Do I need to bring a heavy coat or a sweatshirt for night? We are doing the MVMCP one night so I figured hats and gloves to be safe? Thanks for any help!

I am wondering what the AAA policy is for returning calls. I have called the AAA travel agent in my area 3 or 4 times requesting info on a few different dates for next year. I know they had the prices because it was in October. Are they so busy they don't want the business? I have never used them before but was in need of a new agent so thought I would give them a shot as we are members and rarely use any of the benefits. I ended up booking our first trip with Disney Travel co. but do have another coming up in Oct. which I will need more help with (GG). Uggh sorry for the rant I just don't understand. I really wanted to have a place near by that I could drop by to pick up my docs and the like. I guess I will have to wait. I lost my TA and am reluctant to start with someone new especially after the lack of service from AAA :(

I'm relatively new to the forums but catching up fast, lol... We are taking our DD on her first trip to Disney in a couple weeks and it got me to thinking about things that would be fun to make a tradition for each trip.

My DH has a tradition of getting his hair cut with Michael the Barber on main street in the MK. He will go for sometimes months before the trip without a haircut just to wait for Michael. The one below is from our trip back in 2004 for the Red Sox World Series Parade (for our 5th wedding anniversary):

I'm looking for opinions. We are DVC, but we only have 210 points, so that limits us to about 6 nights in a 2BED villa at OKW. We like to stay 10 days/9 nights, so we need to do 3 nights at a different resort. Last year we got two rooms at POP for the extra nights, and that was fine, but I was looking on the Disney site at pricing and a CSR Jr. Suite was suggested (there are 5 of us) for only a few hundred dollars more than what POP would cost.

I have never even seen CSR in person. We resort hop all the time for shopping, eating, etc, but we've just never made it over to CSR so I have no idea about the resort in general. If you've stayed at CSR and you love it (or hate it) would you mind chiming in? I'm particularly interested in opinions from anyone who's stayed in a Jr. Suite. Would it be big enough for Brent and I, an 18yo, 15yo and 12yo? It's only 3 nights, so we don't need anything too luxurious, I just don't want to be tripping over each other if it would be better to get 2 rooms at POP.

TIA for any opinions/advice. :)

hi we are planning a return trip next year at the very end of april for 10 nights,This August we had a big family holiday where we all were spoilt by staying at the yacht and beach club which was so nice and very convenient especially with an almost 2 yr old for walking to epcot< hollywood studios and the baordwalk not to mention the amazing pool which my son loved!! The question is should we go back there or opt for a moderate resort possibly POFQ and save ourselves alot of money?! Would changing locations really make a huge difference to our holiday??? Really could do with some opinions taht aren't biased

We had a great time on our 7 day Disney World stay and 3 night Disney Magic cruise on November 5th.

Cast:

Occasion: Wedding anniversary.

We started planning this vacation back in April. We had not been to WDW since 1998, though we had been to DL and California Adventure a couple of times since then. We started thinking about how long we would like to cruise, and how long we would like to stay at WDW. Since we hadn't been on a cruise since cruising with RCL to Mexico in 2004, we decided on a 3 day short cruise to get our feet wet for cruising. We purchased the Passporter guides to Disney World, and the guide for Disney Cruises. These were invaluable to our planning. We also found out about discounted Disney Park Hopper passes from Undercover Tourist via Mousesavers.com. Isn't the Internet a wonderful thing?

Since I had three weeks of vacation to burn, and Pat has always wanted to see the Riverwalk in San Antonio, we decided to get in the car and drive from AZ to Florida. We would spend the first five days at WDW, get on the ship for three days, and then spend another two days at WDW before we returned. We both were excited about the road trip, since we hadn't done a cross country trip in 22 years of marriage. It would be a chance to see parts of the country you don't see from a plane. :)

It took us 3 days to get across country, during which we encountered snow in El Paso, 83 degree temps in Beaumont, TX, and driving sheets of rain in Louisiana. So, as you can see, we got all kinds of weather.

Day 1 - Downtown Disney
We arrived in WDW around 2:00 and checked into our room at the Best Western Lake Buena Vista Resort. We have stayed at the Carribean Beach twice in the past, but decided to stay at the Best Western this time. We stayed on the 12th floor, and had a great view of Downtown Disney from our balcony. We decided to rest for awhile, and made the trek to Downtown Disney later that evening. First mistake: It was Halloween, and every family from the Orlando area must have been there to go trick-or-treating. It was a zoo! Also, it was very hot and humid. Being from the desert, humidity is not something we are used to.

We looked around the shops, but the crowds and heat were getting to us.
I spotted the tent for Cirque Du Soleil - La Nouba. We figured, why not? It was amazing! Those of you who have seen it know what I am talking about. After the Cirque performance, we returned to our room, viewing Downtown Disney from our balcony, and got ready for Day 2 at Epcot.

Mousekeeping Tipping question

I know the standard tip for Mousekeeping is $1 per person per room per night. When I spoke with the room assigner at CBR today, she made it sound like we will have two connecting rooms. (We are paying for one standard room, but need an accessible room.) I have already made out 6 Mousekeeping cards and have $18 set aside for their tip. (3 people x 6 nights)

If we do get two rooms that are connecting, would it acceptable to put the tips for both rooms in one envelope im one room?

I love those cookies as we got them for our Christmas Eve cookies for Santa in 2006 and 2008 when we were in WDW. Cruising in a Winter WONDERland

Who:

Iamgrumpy- myself aka Amy my 2nd cruise (1st on the Wonder) my first cruise was in 2006 on the Magic doing the Eastern Caribbean. Addicted to Cruising news, info, and endless dreams of cruising occur almost daily.

Qvcnut55- my mom aka Angela her 2nd cruise (1st on the Wonder) her first cruise was also 2006 same as me and she is almost as bad as I am in terms of wanting to cruise if not worse. It took her less then 20 seconds to say yes to cruising again!

So now that you know WHO is going... Probably want to know When... I'll give you the dates and then I can explain the back story of how we got to these dates!

December 6th on the Wonder!

First, let me start off and say a BIG Thank you to my Travel Agent Marisa because without her, I'm sure DCL would have banned me from making any more changes about 495,000 changes ago! :thanks: :D I usually say that I can plan things on my own but Cruising is a different kind of trip and I can say I am so glad I have had her assistance along the way!

Now in 2006 we had a fantastic time on the Magic it was our first ever cruise and it was a 7 night Eastern and we both still talk about that cruise almost daily! We chat up the cruise anytime we can and we often drive down to Port Canaveral just to watch the ships sail out because we yearn to be onboard the ship (doesn't matter which one, as long as we could be on one)

We booked onboard the Magic for a future cruise and left hoping to be back in 2008, we moved the cruise from 2007's dummy date to 2008's Panama Canal Cruise, unfortunately (fortunately too) we postponed because we moved to Florida. We changed it to a 4 night cruise with a 3 night bounceback cruise but with my lack of work, we decided to go with a 7 day Tortola Cruise in May 2009 instead. Well, again still no job so we postponed for 2010 instead :( This was turning into the Cruise to nowhere, nowhen either. We planned a back to back cruise for Dec 2010 instead but when we heard about the 2011 Panama Canal Cruise we changed to that instead. Well DCL always changing, and us habitual changers, we decided the price was far to much and changed to the Dream in July 2011 (which we plan to do or at least a Cruise on the dream in 2011) but a week after booking the Dream (which we thought was the last change) and being depressed that we would have to wait 2 more years something Magical happened....

I got chosen to host a Disney Cruise House Party, I invited a great friend and her family to Jetty Park and we watched the Magic Sail out, we had a Disney Cruise Day, I found Magic I think I lost along the way by living so close to WDW in her kids, something I could never repay them for no matter how much I try. :thanks: Judi and Family!

Well, by Sunday I was near tears at the thought of 2011 as our cruise date. We had moved, changed, so many times it felt as if we would never cruise. I say Sunday as in this past Sunday 11/15/2009. I looked at mom and said "I have 4 nights off in december that work perfect for a 4 night cruise on the wonder, we could change our 2011 cruise to December 6th, then rebook on board for 2011 and still get the discount and OBC for 2011 too wanna go"

Well 20 seconds later I was trying to reach Marisa and by 10am Monday we were confirmed on the December 6th Sailing for the Disney Wonder and we leave in 19 Days!

We booked a Cat 6 Stateroom Midship with a Clear Verandah, and we have 2nd dining. Which is what we would have booked if we booked months ago :woot: I think the Magic was sprinkled on us! This will be our first Wonder Cruise and the first during the holiday Season so we will get to see the Islands all dressed up and the ship all decked out for the Holiday Season!!!

We can't get any Palo Reservations but that is ok, and we will not be doing any excursions but will splurge on the Spa, and maybe a few Drink of the Days!

So with 19 Days, no prior planning Only changes, and a Chronic Changer planning this stay tuned!

Walt Disney World Alternate History

This is probably the strangest thread I have written. Though It asks you to guess what would Disney World be like if Walt had lived for the rest of the 20th century. I don't think its for the better however. I think that a lot of what we love would be drastically different. Walt was more focused on educating the masses and I think his take on Disney would have been much tamer than what we have. The current WDW is more focused on the entertainment value and the latest ride technologies and innovations.

I think Walt may have developed some more good ideas. Though at the expense we probably wouldn't have a lot of the things we already love about Disney. The layout and size of Walt Disney World under Walt was planned out much differently than the final result. Keep in mind that Walt didn't have the ideas for most of the current hotels, the water parks, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom in his head either so think about the existence of those things.

While making my PB&J at work today a coworker started laughing at me because I was using a spoon to spread the jelly. Um, ok, that's how I was taught as a child - by using a jelly spoon. She started laughing and telling me there's no such thing:rolleyes: Whatever. We also use a butter knife at home to spread butter.

So, am I the only one left to use a jelly spoon and a butter knife? :confused:

She is a smart kid (she has a degree in Biomedical Engineering), but the good med schools are very competitive. Please some pixies that she gets accepted into one!!

She got a call around noon to come to the doctor's office immediately. They found a mass on his brain! We have no more information at this time. I'm wrapping up grad school and that's exciting enough! Along with that, I took the GACE English tests in October. GACE is the Georgia test that allows you to teach different subjects. I've been teaching English in middle school for the past few years and I want to move up to high school. SO today, the scores were released and I aced both Secondary education tests! Now, I can finally leave the middle school and move up to high school!

What a relief!

So I never thought I would be writing this, but a conversation with DH this evening has raised a glimmer of hope that he might be amenable to celebrating my Unmentionable Milestone Birthday (okay - it's 30, just so I don't have to keep typing 'Unmentionable Milestone Birthday'!) in WDW. The big date is June 24th (mark it in your diaries people :announce: ).

I definitely want to go away somewhere, but I've never bothered putting WDW forward to hubby as an option before now due to a) the heat and b) the crowds, but we were watching the Sky Travel channel earlier and they featured a pretty good deal which sparked off the chat I mentioned above. That offer doesn't extend to June, but he did ask (and I quote) "what was it that put you off going for your birthday?" to which I replied "the heat and crowds", to which he replied "are those the only things?" and I said "well, :yes: really", thinking that they would be more than enough to put him off. His response was silence, which I have come to learn tends to mean that he's giving the idea thought. So while he cogitates over it, I was hoping to collect as much info and people's experiences about this time of the year as possible...

I know you'll all understand that I want to have my birthday in my most favourite of places :D if it is even remotely possible, but what I don't want to risk is for the experience to be horribly tainted (for either of us), because neither of us are prepared for how it feels to be there in June (we've been in May and Feb). The dates I'm looking at are June 17th-28th, though obviously there's room for manoeuvre on either side so long as we're there for the 24th ;)

I've looked at touringplans.com and these dates are all rated 8 for crowds, compared to the 4-8 range that features during our usual time of early May. Although I do always make an itinerary of which park we're doing on which day, we generally don't follow any plan when we get to them, we like to just see how we feel. We don't get up for rope drop or do morning EMH (though we do do evening EMH) and we tend to eat on the go rather than do ADRs and that kind of thing (I know, I know - I can feel your collective gasp!). We do most of the headliners but not all (i.e NOT Tower of Terror, NOT Mission Space, NOT Splash Mountain).

So question #1 - while the above strategy works okay for us in quieter times like May, is it a viable option in late June? Or do you have to go at it totally commando-style in order to stand a chance of getting on/near/in anything? While I'm not unwilling to do it this way, I don't know how DH would feel, so it's an important part of the info I'm gathering!

Having never booked for this time of year before, I've emailed Mouse Fan Travel to get a quote so I have some sort of idea of the accommodation cost (I assume it would be more than May). Till they get back to me though, question #2 - any advice/tales/recommendations regarding rooms? We would be looking to return to our favourite POFQ with hopefully a couple of nights in the Poly (I've always wanted to stay there!). Just anything you think might be of interest would be great.

So I know that the average temperature is higher in late June than in early May, and I know from reading on here that temperatures seem to have been higher this year than before anyway. Question #3 - what are your experiences of June heat levels? Are they unbearable or would you say it's okay so long as you remember to stay hydrated etc?

Obviously I know this is individual to different people, however DH is type 2 diabetic so I'd be particularly interested to know if anyone has experience of touring in heat with this condition. I should point out that I have been once in late July/August so have experienced the more intense heat there - he has not, and is more...hmm...Pooh-sized, and is generally more affected by it than I am. However he is losing weight admirably and should be considerably trimmer by next June!

Question #4 - just a general one! When do the 4th July decorations go up? :usa: :flag: We've never been when there have been holiday decorations up (of any kind), so it would be awesome to see them (we were married in New York so I feel a little bit American anyway..!).

Sorry - I know that was long and a bit waffly, however I'd be super-grateful for anything you can tell me. I feel like I know everything I could ever need to in respect of going in May but zip about going at any other time of year!

Just above the bottom of page one, above the videos, is where you click to get to page 2 and not at the bottom as in many cases.

I do have one comment on article #10 on the drinking water from the carts which might be different from DLR in Anaheim. I am referring to DLR now, on the below.

At the carts they do not carry water, as such, to fill your cup, but, instead they will give you ice in a cup and direct you to a water fountain. The only water is bottled water which is sold.

If you go to the First Aid Station at DLR they will give you purified chilled water (not iced) in any amount. They will fill and/or refill thermosts, your carry on a strap jugs, kids canteens, etc. Ice is available for emergencies.

I would imagine that if you wanted purified iced water is to ask one of the carts for ice and then you combine them. If you are satisifed with the park water then use the fountains.

Possibly a CM or a passporter going to WDW in the near future can verify if the carts give both ice and water at the same time. Check if WDW Fiirst Aid Station offers the chilled purified water.

Because of the different flu bugs going around the country and possible contaminatrion of lips on the fountains that parents would be concerned and take better preventive action. Maybe the purified water is a better alternative action.

If you get ice from the carts you might want to check and see what type container it is in. Hopefully not where their cans and bottles were being chilled???

I am not criticizing the quality of water in either park as it is up and above standards. It's the flu bug flying around from whom knows where and from whom to whom.

Okay CMs and passporters let us all know. I am sure parents and all of us are concerned. Both DLR and WDW and elsewhere.

We did this in a class last year and I was surprised at the discussion.
1. What foods MUST be on the table for your family celebrations?
2. Are there any items that are still in this category even though no one in the family eats/likes it, but tradition says it must be there?

For us, there must be cheese grits, deviled eggs, pink fluff salad, mom's version of waldorf salad, and jeff davis pie. the orange jello, shredded carrot, mandrin orange salad mom always made for my son got to go away when she passed away. he never liked it but ate it because she made it for him special because she thought he liked it. :rolleyes:

I am too frugal to have a senior in high school!

I just can't get over all these expenses! First it was the "registration fees" - for public school mind you, about $150. Then there were senior pictures. We did the cheapest sitting possible, $25 plus "proof" deposit of $20, ordered only 4 x 5s for $45 (choke choke!) when most packages were $150 and up, now the cap and gown, $35 for rental, parents ad in yearbook $75 (I'm skipping this one), announcements and namecard inserts $50-100 - are these really necessary?, thank yous, etc. I can't even remember what else. Oh yeah, $40 a pop for college apps. I need another job just to get through senior year. :eek:

First off, I have to say I know we're lucky that we have jobs when so many don't, but Lenny came home and told me his hours have been cut....AGAIN. This is twice in about 6 months. First he was cut from 40 to 36 hours. Now he's been cut down to 30. What he was bringing home was barely making the bills as it was. Now I have no idea what I'm going to do. I have so many circumastances to work around that there is no good option for me. Abby, as many of you know is Autistic and even being mild, she takes up a lot of my time. Lenny absolutley sucks at taking care of her. He's good to her, but he gets so focused on his own things that he tends to either ignore her or totally lose patience with her which leads to him being totally PO'd with Abby and her screaming and crying. My mother is good with her....sometimes. Mom works from 6 am to 2:30 pm, but the rest of her day is literally spent sleeping. She'll come home and sit in her recliner and sleep until 8 or 9 pm. Then she'll get up, let the dogs out, then go to bed for the night. In the nice weather on weekends, mom will spend some of the day (mabye 3 or 4 hours) outside, but the rest of the day is spent, you guessed it, sleeping. I already work during the day at school so I'm not going to leave there. So really my only choices are to get a second job and pay a comptent babysitter (I don't think there's any such thing anymore IMO) which basically negates the purpose of getting a second job or work the overnight shift (10 to 7) at our local pharmacy - if they're even hiring. The manager won't be in until Wednesday. Lenny doesn't like the idea (when are you going to get any sleep??) but what else can I do? I used to function on about 2 hours a sleep at night when Abby was a baby, I could probably do it again.

Like I said, I know we're better off than some people (not many though - we own nothing but 2 vehicles that are both 7 years old and not in the best shape) but in the end, it's just one more hit that I just can't take.

so after finding out i am pregnant, we decided to change our trip scheduled for august because we werent very comfortable travelling with a 1.5 month old. We decided on saturday to move the trip up to the week that falls over DS 4th birthday. Thought it would be a great family trip before the addition and mommy should be 32 weeks and clear for travel. (still getting that travel insurance though) So i sent an email to our travel agent late on saturday so that she would have the email when she got into the office on monday. Sunday at work i got to thinking about dining reservations, checked the planning calculator guess what ADR 180 window was today!!!! I greived and said fairwell to CRT and le cellier as i knew my travel agent wouldent get the email to rebook till at least 8-9 am....

I received an email from my travel agent at 1pm and set to work on planning my ADR... I tried for le cellier on the last full day as i figured it would have the best availability with the +10 feature. Woot woot!! First try!!! I tried the last full day for CRT breakfast hoping for the same thing.... no such luck. Bummed i moved on. I also had no luck with my ADR for chef mickeys on a spesific day i had planned out.....but guess what came up as an option on that same day and time??? CRT!!! the morning that we were leaving i wasnt planning on a reservation but when i saw chef mickeys i booked it....

theres gonna be a lot of eating on this vacation but at 32 week im sure i'll enjoy it....

Planning - Burn Out

This sounds so silly, but I am asking for some help from my fellow OCD planners. I have been planning our trip to Disney since we made the reservations in August of 2008. We are now less than three weeks away and I think I am suffering from burn out. I have tucked stuff back for our trip since 8/2008 and now I look at that pile and go...GOOD GRIEF where do I begin. What is in that stack? I need someone to give me a shot of optimism to get back on track with excitement that our family vacation is so near.

Anyone else ever experienced a Pre-vacation blues state?

"Cake Boss" filming episode at Grand Floridian

During our stay at the Grand Floridian last week my daughter and I noticed a lot of activity near the marina. We walked over and saw several large movie cameras and lighting equiptment in the small court yard area between Gasparillo's and the marina. The court yard was set up for what appeared to be a very expensive children's birthday party. The chairs were covered with pink slipcovers, an elaborate buffet was set up on one side, and flowers and balloons were on all the tables. The area was blocked off and monitored by several cast members who told us that an episode of "Cake Boss" (on TLC) was being filmed that day. It was an extremely windy afternoon and the crew was primarily concerned with keeping the set from blowing away. We saw several children dressed as princesses sitting in the chairs, who were apparently appearing in the episode but we didn't see any of the stars of the show. Hopefully they had completed most of their filming for the day because the weather never improved. We continued to watch the area from our balcony but never saw them actually film any scenes.

We don't watch "Cake Boss" but I will ty to watch for this episode in the future.

The next day we also saw a Verizon commercial being filmed in front of Splash Mountain.

So my little guy woke me up bright (not even) and early this morning and I was kinda sleepy since he has also been up at night teething. :( We get our milk delivered (I know) on mondays and I peeked out our front door window to see if it was there and I saw what I thought was doggie poo on my front mat. There were some tracks in the snow but also some from the milk guy so it was hard to tell how big the tracks were. It was not the nicest thing to find there first thing. So I got my little guy breakfast in his highchair and our dogs out in the backyard for their morning duties and I went to clean up in the mess. When I opened the door to look for real I could tell it was not poo but bunny guts instead. :eek: Tons of fur too! I just threw the whole mat in the trash!!! When my husband got up he went out to investigate. He found fox or small coyote tracks all over the front yard. No blood so I guess it brought the snack from somewhere else. Thank goodness. We have tons of bunnies all over our neighborhood but I have never seen one dead or in this condition much less on my front porch! A yucky morning.

Photopass CD - starting to panic!!!

Time is ticking by and I have a problem with trying to "pre-order" a Photopass Photo CD!!!!!

I'm aware of the recent changes to the "pre-order" discount on the Photopass CD in that you now have to receive an e-mail with a link/discount code to be able to pre-order.

We are arriving on 30 NOV 09 and haven't received ANYTHING offering us the Photo CD discount as yet!!

We booked our vacation through Disney Travel (in the UK) and are staying at a Disney resort.

I've e-mailed the Photopass Website and they came back and basically said the discount e-mail is nothing to do with them and that I need to contact the Disney Travel Company as they are responsible for the discount e-mails.

I've just come off the phone to the Disney Travel Company and, guess what, the discount e-mail is nothing to do with them either?!?!?!?

Has anyone from the UK had any recent experience of pre-ordering a Photopass Photo CD? Does anyone have any suggestions as what I can do next?

I know it sounds a bit "Scrooge-like" scrambling to get a discount, but the way I look at it is every $ I can save like this is another $ I can spend on "real" stuff at WDW!!!

So when I hear them-to keep happy thoughts, and not let it ruin my day-I sing to myself this song that I made up as a parody to that song:

This might be of interest to those who, like our family, have already made the upgrade to Bluray.

We purchased the Up Bluray at Walmart last night. When we opened it up to watch last night, DH pointed out an advert inside that talks about this new program. From what I can gather, if you own a Disney VHS or DVD, and that movie is released on Bluray, you can enter the UPC code from your old movie and Disney will send you an $8 coupon towards the new Bluray. :cool: A pretty good deal! The system doesn't look to be fully operational yet, it just says "Coming soon" on the site, with the exception of Monsters Inc. We've already replaced several Disney DVD's with their Bluray counterparts, so we'll definitely be keeping an eye out for when this program gets fully underway. :waytogo:

Matching pin code to VISA card?

My sister recently received a pin code. I did not although I am the travel arranger. We changed internet providers and I think I'm lost in cyberspace (I did inform Disney but have not had a response.) My question is: Can we book under her name to match pin code but use my Disney VISA card?

I know I saw the answer to this before, but I can't remember what was said!
My husband wants to know if they provide life jackets for the kids on Castaway Cay. Nicholas (DS6) is very "brave" when it comes to the water, but he is used to pools. He would probably be safer with some kind of swim aid, since he is just learning to swim. He had tubes in his ears until last summer, so he never really did much in the water before then, besides splashing around in the shallow end. Will they have something for him, or would I be better off packing his life jacket?

:D:D:D:D.....our trip to WDW Jan 2010 is on!!!!!
We have been talking about it now since our last trip to WDW Jan '08 and after much debate we are going!!!! Last trip, it was DH, DS14 (then 12) & me. Our oldest DS(21) couldn't come last trip due to work schedule, but will be able to go this time. DH & I have been talking about going back since we got home last trip, and really hoped all 4 of us could go on a vacation together, but things just didn't seem to be working out. When the stay 4/3 free came out (within the dates we were shooting for), we knew we were going to pull this together. Oldest DS has 2 weeks off beginning Jan 27......youngest DS has 2 days off school beginning Jan 28......so, I began looking at resorts to see what was available.

Last time we stayed at CSR & :love: it!!!!! It isn't available this time, but our modeate choices are: POR, POFQ, or CBR.

Just to get the trip planning started...I know....I'm so behind schedule....please help me decide which resort before I finalize our reservation. I am leaning towards POR, but that is just my choice....Keep in mind....we are traveling with a 14 & 21 year old. Which would you choose? Also, please suggest which part to stay in (we prefer close to dining as opposed to close to pool). Sorry this is so long!! Thanks for helping me decide. You guys were a huge help planning last trip.

I already have a few things planned.....dining, which days at which parks, etc. I'll share that later. In the meantime, HELP!!!
