Airfare from Nashville to Orlando on SWA on 2/6/09 (Saturday) is $94.00.
Return airfare the following Friday is $105.00.
Should I buy now or do you think something lower will come through?

BTW, they are nonstop flights.

Oversized bag - how strict are the airlines about enforcing?

We have an oversized bag purchased for a 12-day trip to Hawaii 10+ years ago, before size restrictions. When we have used it in the past few years, they have always let it get by as long as we were under 50#s. How strict are they about size these days? I would prefer not to chance it. DH says they will take it without extra charges.

Delta changed our flights

We received an email this morning that Delta has changed our flights on both ends of the trip. The flights they had given us were terrible. The flight down had us missing our first ADR and the flight back was real early. They didn't even have us sitting together on the return flight. Fortunately I was able to change these and we are now arriving earlier and leaving later than our original flights which is OK. They only bad part is we are flying out of Cincinnati at 9am. That is way early but it means we can now look at getting an ADR for lunch somewhere.

It all worked out thanks to the person I talked to at Delta (and I didn't even have to get angry about it). I just hope that the flights won't change again. We have never flown Delta before and have never had a flight changed with the other airlines we have flown before. It just makes us a little nervous now when we thought everything was ready to go for the trip.

Guess now I need to call Disney and let them now our flight info has changed for the DME.

Can you use DME for only 1 way? I'm hoping to fly this summer and was wondering if you use DME do you have to use it for roundtrip or can you use it for 1 way only. I was wanting to use quicksilver or some other transportation service to get to our hotel and just use DME when we headed back to the airport.

This past September was my 1st experience with DME and I thought it took a little too long for us to get to our resort. Granted the lines were continuously moving and I didn't know what to expect but it did seem overly long. Coming back to the airport was a lot quicker and the process didn't seem to take as long either.

Air Travel Question AirCanada vs. WestJet

So a question for my Canadian friends (or those who have travelled Air Canada or West Jet).

Long story short - There have been numerous screw ups with my West Jet reservation to MCO. I've had my flight changed TWICE by them now (although the last change gave me an extra day at Disney, but cost my another night at POP) and I'm just really paranoid about something screwing up on the day I fly. I am very much pro Air Canada and have flown 6 legs with them this summer alone with zero hiccups...Because of a good seat sale I ended up booking the flight TO orlando with West Jet and the flight BACK to Toronto with Air Canada. But now I see that I can book the Air Canada for the same price as the West Jet flight ( now I won't get a refund but I will have a credit that either me or fiancee can use in the future)

WWYD? Would you keep the West Jet flight or go with Air Canada

Dang the fares are crazy high!!!

I'm not enjoying planning my trip right now. We've got a 7-night cruise booked in March, and I want to tack on a day at the front and a couple days afterwards. Any decent itinerary is about $900 pp! I've been hoping that they'll come down, and I know that this is a little early. My only fear is that the day that my final payment on the cruise is due will come and go without any lower fares!! My DH will have a cow about this trip if I get stuck paying $2700 for tickets! I can't even imagine.

I'm thinking about canceling or rebooking for later. :( My girls would be very unhappy as this would be our third time booking a cruise without ever taking one. It just stinks.

Any suggestions? I check the search engines religiously. We'd fly out of Anchorage on March 4th or early the 5th, to return on the 15th or 16th. I've never travelled over spring break before, and I'm thinking that the fares aren't going to budge because of that. I'm just so sick of worrying about this!!!

I'll be on the plane to WDW in less than 24 hours...and now I'm thinking of all these questions! I bought a little bottle of lysol and the aerosol spray sunscreen to take with me, I can bring them on the plane right? I will have to put the sunscreen in my checked luggage becuase it's more than 3oz, but the lysol is really small so that can probably go in my carry on, but is that allowed? They won't explode and cause damage to the plane right? I didn't worry about this last year because I didn't bring anything with me I bought it all down there, but this year, I wanted to save myself the trouble and get it before I go there. But if aerosols are a problem, I don't want to take the chance, I can just buy these things down there if I have to! Thanks!

Using Air Miles for Flight?

I am using my Advantage Air Miles with American. I have never done this before.

The only reasonable flight time available was from Dallas to Chicago then Orlando.

So my question is once I get to the airport terminal can I see if they can get me on a straight thru flight?

Has anyone done this before? Any tips would be helpful.

#1 Should I spend the big bucks and have quicksilver pick us up?
#2 Spend slightly less and take a taxi? or
#3 save the money for a new sweatshirt and take DME? I have read the dme can take hours to get to the World.

Southwest "Customers of Size" -- learn from my experience!

You can tell from my profile picture that I am rather large, and I'll be the first to admit that I'm rather "hippy."

So when I read here on the PP board about Southwest's customers of size policy I fretted a little bit, but eventually pulled on my big-girl panties to call SWA and buy a a second seat.

The policy states you can buy the second seat at the same price as your first seat; I was expecting to pay $89, like I paid in July for my original ticket...

... But I had to pay $171 for the second seat, which is the lowest available price NOW.

What about paying the same fare for the second seat, as the policy states? That's only if you buy the two seats at the same time.

So the bottom line (pardon the pun) is that because I decided to pony up and do the right thing, I paid $171 for that extra seat, when the two tickets I purchased in July for myself and my son cost $178 combined!!

Yes, I realize I can apply for a refund if the flight is not overbooked, but we're travelling during the week between Christmas and New Years... No chance of that.

The other sad part of this story is that someone on stand-by is not going to Orlando that day because I had to buy this second ticket....

First of all, let me explain that we are not world travelers. DH and I were last on a plane 20 years ago . We have booked our rooms and made our ADRs but are currently still seeking air tickets for February 2010. The closest airport (1 hour away) fly non-stop with Allegiant.......sounds great, huh. The trouble is the airfare is much more that I want at the moment (299.99 one way) There will be 4 of us traveling (DH, myself, DD-12, DS-9) and really would love:love: to fly out of this airport as then the drive :home: after our trip would be managable. Last year, when I was watching, the airfare tended to drop the closer to the dates of flying. Is this a regular practice of Allegiant or was that just a fluke??? (and they offered some winter get-a-way rates). I am scared the prices are only going to climb but we just can't afford that kind of price. The next closest airport would be 4 hours away:(. Should we hold out a while longer to see if they come out with better February rates or should we be looking elsewhere?? I had heard that booking 3 months out is the best time to book..........is that true??

:help:Any advice would be great!!!!!:)

In 8 days we will be driving to WDW!:D As I was packing and getting things ready I started thinking about the toll roads and was trying to figure out how to best prepare for them:confused:. So we will be driving from Georgia to Orlando and I was wondering about how much will we need for the toll roads and what is best to take quarters or singles? Ive never had to use toll roads before so Im completely new to this so any tips or advice you could give would be great. TIA!!

Car Service to MCO -- Questions

We have an earl-ish (10:45 a.m.) flight out of MCO to come home. We normally get an afternoon flight but the cost difference was so great we opted for this one. I'm thinking if we take DME we're probably going to be looking at a 7:30-ish pick up time, which got me thinking that maybe we spring for a private town car to buy us a little extra time in the morning.

Do you think an 8:15-8:30 a.m. pick-up time sounds reasonable (travelling from GF to MCO)? Also, any suggestions for good, reliable car services? We haven't used one since the pre-DME days and back then we used Mears (but it was a shared ride in a mini-van--do they have town cars though)? Thanks!

Has anyone from the UK used Disney's Magical Express recently?

Our tickets arrived yesterday :woot: BUT I was a little surprised not to find any yellow DME tags, or any other information about DME, except a single A4 sheet which basically said "take your airline luggage check in slips to the DME counter and Disney will do the rest".

This is significantly different to last year's procedure!

Has anyone used DME from the UK recently? How did it work for you? What process did you follow? And most importantly of all . . . did you get your bags?

I'd really like to know why airline prices (at least for Continental) change every single day. I've already purchased our tickets for next August because one day the round trip flight was listed as $218 from Newark to Orlando but I still look everyday at the website. It jumps up to $234 then $228 then $258 then $228 then $278 and so on and so on. This is every day. It hasn't gone lower than the $218 I got the ticket for but I just don't understand how they can change the cost every day. Can fuel prices change this often for them?

Taking DME from Resort to Airport

Our flight home is at 5:10, so I'm wondering what time we have to catch the DME to the airport? Also, if we have time to do something before we have to catch the bus, what do we do with our luggage? Do you HAVE to catch DME from your resort, or what if we end up at Downtown or another resort for lunch or something like that. I'm guessing that might not be a good idea.

Anyway, the first thing is how early do you get the DME to go back to airport?

Have any of you shipped a box of items to arrive ahead of your arrival? I've been thinking of shipping a large box ahead of time [beach towels, collapsible cooler, collapsible laundry basket, beach bag, pool toys, shampoo, conditioner, etc.]. Do hotels [we are staying at AKL] seem to be okay with this? With baggage fees on Delta Airlines, I think it would be a money saver. I'm not planning on bringing those items home, so I wouldn't have the worry of where to pack them on our way back. Thoughts?

TIA, Kristy

If so, would you mind helping me out by looking at what your cancellation email said under "cost and payment summary"?

On mine it says, "current payment(s)" and then today's date, the last 4 digits of our cc and the charge:confused:. It makes it look like there was a charge today. I expected it to say "previous payment(s)" then the date of original purchase and the charge.

I called SWA and the rep. couldn't really answer my question -- she just said "sometimes they come out like that". Hoping someone else can confirm that this is normal so I can stop worrying that another charge is going to hit my dh's cc:eek:;).

Thanks guys!

We stayed at Pop and flew SW. We got to use RAC since they were still testing it while we were there. Great! I was ecstatic!! I checked the bags with RAC at about 6:30 that morning. We left MCO at 6:30 that night. Got to Buffalo...no luggage...bunch of other people too. I talked with a woman there...stayed at Pop, checked her bags with RAC that morning, we took the same direct flight from MCO to BUF...she got all her bags. I heard one of the women who's bags were lost talking to the guy at SW...she came from another flight...so MCO was her connection. She only had like a 30 min layover. Said she saw her bags on a cart outside as we were taxing away for the gate. Apparently my bags were on that cart as well. I can see why hers didn't make the plane...but mine??? I checked them with RAC 12 hours before my flight???????

SW was great though...they arrived the next morning on a 10:55 flight. I live close to the airport so I picked them up...they gave me a $50 voucher.

My question is this... do we go to baggage claim and take our luggage with us or do we let it arrive DME? If we go with DME, how long does it take for our luggage to arrive. We have never been to WDW so I'm not exactly sure how DME works.

Thanks, Kristy
