What is your favorite not to be missed thing to do or see at the World Resorts?
We will be there soon, and with all the planning, I forgot to research what the resorts do for Christmas. So, other than the Gigerbread house, where should we go? What should we look for?

When you check in online, do you pay for the balance of your room at that time? I pay with a debit card and money for the room will not actually be in my account until the day before I arrive. I sure wouldn't want to put my account in the negative. Not a good way to begin a vacation!

I get to check in online tomorrow that means my trip with only 10 days away!!
I'm getting very excited!

Concierge Food

I was just wondering if the concierge food supplement a meal if you are on the dining plan. We will be on the regular dining plan so of course there will be PLENTY of food each day, but I was thinking if there were a couple days we could just do a quick service, our snack and then munch on the concierge food if that would be enough. I was thinking this so that I could for a couple days take those extra table service meals and dine at a more expensive rest. that requires 2 dining credits. Just curious. We have never stayed at the concierge before so I am not quite sure what to expect. We will be at the WL honeymoon suite level...I am not sure if that makes a difference.

Coronado Springs Jr. Suite anyone?

I'm looking for opinions. We are DVC, but we only have 210 points, so that limits us to about 6 nights in a 2BED villa at OKW. We like to stay 10 days/9 nights, so we need to do 3 nights at a different resort. Last year we got two rooms at POP for the extra nights, and that was fine, but I was looking on the Disney site at pricing and a CSR Jr. Suite was suggested (there are 5 of us) for only a few hundred dollars more than what POP would cost.

I have never even seen CSR in person. We resort hop all the time for shopping, eating, etc, but we've just never made it over to CSR so I have no idea about the resort in general. If you've stayed at CSR and you love it (or hate it) would you mind chiming in? I'm particularly interested in opinions from anyone who's stayed in a Jr. Suite. Would it be big enough for Brent and I, an 18yo, 15yo and 12yo? It's only 3 nights, so we don't need anything too luxurious, I just don't want to be tripping over each other if it would be better to get 2 rooms at POP.

TIA for any opinions/advice. :)

hi we are planning a return trip next year at the very end of april for 10 nights,This August we had a big family holiday where we all were spoilt by staying at the yacht and beach club which was so nice and very convenient especially with an almost 2 yr old for walking to epcot< hollywood studios and the baordwalk not to mention the amazing pool which my son loved!! The question is should we go back there or opt for a moderate resort possibly POFQ and save ourselves alot of money?! Would changing locations really make a huge difference to our holiday??? Really could do with some opinions taht aren't biased

Mousekeeping Tipping question

I know the standard tip for Mousekeeping is $1 per person per room per night. When I spoke with the room assigner at CBR today, she made it sound like we will have two connecting rooms. (We are paying for one standard room, but need an accessible room.) I have already made out 6 Mousekeeping cards and have $18 set aside for their tip. (3 people x 6 nights)

If we do get two rooms that are connecting, would it acceptable to put the tips for both rooms in one envelope im one room?

During our stay at the Grand Floridian last week my daughter and I noticed a lot of activity near the marina. We walked over and saw several large movie cameras and lighting equiptment in the small court yard area between Gasparillo's and the marina. The court yard was set up for what appeared to be a very expensive children's birthday party. The chairs were covered with pink slipcovers, an elaborate buffet was set up on one side, and flowers and balloons were on all the tables. The area was blocked off and monitored by several cast members who told us that an episode of "Cake Boss" (on TLC) was being filmed that day. It was an extremely windy afternoon and the crew was primarily concerned with keeping the set from blowing away. We saw several children dressed as princesses sitting in the chairs, who were apparently appearing in the episode but we didn't see any of the stars of the show. Hopefully they had completed most of their filming for the day because the weather never improved. We continued to watch the area from our balcony but never saw them actually film any scenes.

We don't watch "Cake Boss" but I will ty to watch for this episode in the future.

The next day we also saw a Verizon commercial being filmed in front of Splash Mountain.

:D:D:D:D.....our trip to WDW Jan 2010 is on!!!!!
We have been talking about it now since our last trip to WDW Jan '08 and after much debate we are going!!!! Last trip, it was DH, DS14 (then 12) & me. Our oldest DS(21) couldn't come last trip due to work schedule, but will be able to go this time. DH & I have been talking about going back since we got home last trip, and really hoped all 4 of us could go on a vacation together, but things just didn't seem to be working out. When the stay 4/3 free came out (within the dates we were shooting for), we knew we were going to pull this together. Oldest DS has 2 weeks off beginning Jan 27......youngest DS has 2 days off school beginning Jan 28......so, I began looking at resorts to see what was available.

Last time we stayed at CSR & it!!!!! It isn't available this time, but our modeate choices are: POR, POFQ, or CBR.

Just to get the trip planning started...I know....I'm so behind schedule....please help me decide which resort before I finalize our reservation. I am leaning towards POR, but that is just my choice....Keep in mind....we are traveling with a 14 & 21 year old. Which would you choose? Also, please suggest which part to stay in (we prefer close to dining as opposed to close to pool). Sorry this is so long!! Thanks for helping me decide. You guys were a huge help planning last trip.

I already have a few things planned.....dining, which days at which parks, etc. I'll share that later. In the meantime, HELP!!!

If you have been reading my PTR, then you may know that my DBf has been having a problem with his feet swelling up pretty badly. The swelling has been going down considerably over the last few days, but yesterday we spent a good portion of the evening at a charity benefit where he was on his feet the whole time. Needless to say, they started sweeling again, but no nearly as bad as they were before. We have found that if he props his feet up on a stack of oversized pillows at night, then the swelling lessens quite a bit.

Do you know if it is possible to get enough extra pillows at the resort for him to be able to prop his feet up at night? We will be staying at CBR beginning Saturday.

DD's equestrain team does a Florida camp over winter break and I try to meet up with her for a few days at Disney. Since we are usually only there 3-4 days, we have been staying in moderates, which I have enjoyed and I think CSR is my all time favorite resort.

This year I have a pin code and it is only $20./night more to stay at Anical Kingdom Lodge. We have stayed before and the Mara is my favorite food court. Because this is a short and cheap trip, we will be eating counter service. This seems like the best deal to me.

For another few dollars, total, I can also get a studio at SSR. I have not stayed here. DD has and says it's her favorite resort. Because we will be there in January, the parks close early and we will probably spend a bit of time at DTD and her favorite counter serve is the Earl of Sandwich.

My final option would be to splurge (approximately $250./night) and stay in a studio at Bay Lake Towers. We have stayed at the Contemporary in the garden room and it was just OK.

We will have a rental car.

Any suggestions?

We just got back from the world, and I came home with a nasty case of Excema! I'm allergic to the bed sheets, blankets, coverlette and towels! It has bothered me in the past but not to this extent. Does anyone else have to deal with this problem? How do you handle it? Can Mousekeeping double rinse the bedding and towels to help?

Any advise would be great!

This will be my birthday and I'm sort of harboring the hope that we might get an upgrade because of that. We're booked for a standard room. I was upgraded for my birthday two years ago from a woods view to the club level. Quite a nice surprise and actually was advised by email a few days before arrival that that had happened.
Have any of you used online check in and also received an upgrade? Just curious.
Thanks

I am just curious which moderate resort has the best holiday decorations. I am thinking POFQ might be nice or even POR...I do not want to go to CSR because we have been there before.

Let me know what you guys think!

How long is the walk from POFQ to POR?

I'm booked at the POFQ right now with my hubby, DD (15), DS (11), DS (4), and Mother (68). I like the how the FQ is small and short walks but I'm afraid my two older kids will be bored and like the POR better. It is ok to let them walk over to POR?

Are the quiet pools crowded at the POR?

Also, what direction do the bus stops go on the circle around POR?

Thanks so much!! It's been 20 years since I've been to Disney, and it's so hard to try and make everyone happy. :)

I don't know how long the refurb will last, but I thought that was a pretty nice trade off :D

We like to fantasize about being first class world travelers, but in real life the most traveling we do is the 30 minute drive to visit my Mom. We have stayed in hotels before, and have always left our housekeeping tip at the end of our trip (although the most we've ever stayed is one or two days). Now from some of the posts I've been reading on this board it sounds like we are supposed to leave a tip each day of our stay. We don't want to be ignorant, so please clue us in on resort tipping etiquette. How much and how often do we tip and who else should we be tipping and how much. We will be staying at the POR for 5 days and taking the DME from the airport to the resort, the buses from the resort to the parks, and the bus to the cruise leg of our vacation. Do we also tip the bus drivers? Will there be people helping us with our luggage that we'll need to tip? I feel very uneducated in this area and appreciate all the advice you have so that we can look like classy tourists instead of ditzes!

Anyone else get a surprise upgrade?

I saw the lovely posting from the couple that got a magnificent upgrade at the GF on their honey moon. We got one at the CR on our first trip with our daughter a few years ago. Just wanted to hear any other stories of big surprise upgrades.

Our story:
Our daughter was born with numerous health and developmental issues. The first year was so stressful and draining. She had a trache and feeding tube and a load of medical equipment, medicines, oxygen tanks, etc. We didn't leave the house (or hospital) much. By the time she was 18 months though we had settled into a routine, come to grips with our situation and decided we needed a vacation. Through a friend we learned we were eligible to stay at Shades of Green but it was undergoing renovation so we would be staying at the Contemporary - for only $99 a night due to the SoG deal. We loaded all of our stuff into the SUV and drove from the midwest to Orlando.
When I went to check in the desk clerk just said "we've been able to upgrade your room." OK great! Well we didn't know until we handed our key to the bell hop that we were now on the Concierge floor. They also upgraded the young couple right behind me (honey moon I think) to the same floor. A 1200 square foot suite with 3 balconies, 2 baths, kitchen, etc. Did I mention $99 a night? We had only booked 3 nights but I immediately checked with the Concierge about extending our stay. He said "Yes, it is available for one more night but I will have to charge you the normal rate." Well that was over $1000 so that was out of the question. So then I checked with the Shades of Green representative who made one call and, voila, we stayed another night for only $99.
We knew it was a once in a lifetime blessing so we made the most of it. Our daughter had a great time (and has been back to WDW 5 more times) and we will always remember it fondly.

Couple of questions

Does anyone have any pictures of the daybeds at places like CSR, AKL, or YC? We are trying to decide on lodging for a trip and are considering rooms with daybeds for my 9 year old who normally sleeps in a full size bed. We are wondering how comfortable they are. By going with a cheaper room we may be able to stay longer and enjoy more of the magic.

We are are looking at those junior suites at CSR with the King in one room and a Murphy bed in the Parlor also. Anyone have any experience with those rooms?

Thanks in advance.

SoG update/review

We stayed at Shades of Green near the end of October so I'd thought I would post a review with some updates of what is happening at the resort. This was our 5th stay at SoG over the past 6 years.

Firstly, it appears they are performing minor updates to the rooms. While we were there the bedspreads/comforters were being changed out to brand new ones (stripes instead of flowers), light fixtures and sofas were being changed also. And beds, our biggest complaint last time, seemed much better. No back problems even after 8 nights.

There also seemed to be much less mauve color in the hallways and common areas. Don't know if it was just a change in decorations or if it was a wallpaper and carpet change.

As usual everything was very clean and the employees and guests were friendly and respectful.

The food service is another matter altogether. The steady decline in food quality continues. Evergreens (the restaurant by the Mickey shaped pool) is no more. Well it's still there but only for hot dogs, chips and drinks. It was empty - never saw anyone eat in there all week. It appears to be a permanent change as they were removing the kitchen equipment while we were there. They expanded the arcade that was there to include Chuck E Cheese type ticket games.

Manginos, the Italian restaurant on the bottom floor, continues but is a shadow of its former self. The Italian items on the menu now number only about 6 and they are just the basics - nothing fancy (and probably come from the buffet next door). The other side of the menu is burgers, pizza, etc. that used to be on the Evergreen's menu. There is a walk-up window to get carry-out. I suppose this is supposed to the replace that service that used to be at Evergreens. They have also hung TV's in one room of Mangino's dining area.

They were short of wait staff every time we visited. Everyone was complaining about the food situation - in the restaurants, by the pool and on the shuttle buses it was a common topic of conversation.

We skipped the buffet because last year it was horrible and we just assumed it wasn't any better.

For the 1st time we ate at 2 of the Polynesian restaurants, Ohana and Kona(?). Ohana is great for family dinners. All you can eat steak, pork, chicken and Shrimp grilled over an open fire. It was excellent if a bit rushed.

The cafe restaurant around the corner from Ohana (Kona I think) was very good with a light menu of island inspired sandwiches, tacos, etc.

Is the boat to DtD still enjoyable with a much cooler breeze? Is the entire resort (meaning the grounds too and not just the main building) decorated for the holidays? Thanks!:D

We are all booked and ready for our jan. 31- feb. 8 trip to Contemporary...Having 2nd thoughts about staying at polynesian instead. We are booked in a garden wing standard view..great price for a deluxe on monrail, witch is why I booked there to begin with... not much price difference between CR and AKL pool/bunk combo we had ORIGINALLY booked(lol). If we booked A poly room, it would be the basic garden view.. anyone have thoughts on this? I would like to stay at both resrts equally as much!!

This will be the first time we actually use a car at WDW so I've never paid any attention to driving/parking issues.

We'll be arriving in Orlando on a Sat evening, driving up from Miami. We plan to meet friends at Beaches & Cream for a kitchen sink. We will probably need to drive straight to B&C before we check into our hotel (ASMu) -- but we won't have a parking pass or anything to make us "legit." Since there's no ADR list at B&C for the parking attendant to check us against, will this be doable?

We've never been to this resort before -- any advice on where to park?

OK, I have searched and searched for any mention of this hotel on the boards, with no luck. Anyone stayed there recently? This is the hotel right next to the Premium Outlet Mall (I think that's what the mall is called, it's the one with the Disney outlet store). We have a 3 BR/2Ba booked for me, DH, DS15, DS13, DS2, DBIL & DSIL.

How far is the resort from the parks?
Is it clean?
Do they tack on resort fees or parking fees? (I booked on hotels.com & couldn't find any mention of it there)
How bad is their shuttle service?
What's the best grocery store nearby?

Thanks for any help you may be able to give us!

My daughters and I are planning our next trip to WDW. We would like to stay at CBR again and we were thinking about taking 2 vehicles instead of one. My suv has a small trunk area and we were very crowded on our last trip. Is it possible to reserve 1 room (4 adults) and still be able to park 2 vehicles, with or without an extra charge?

They have one credit card but they prefer not to use it. What are the policies for check in? And can they use a bank card that does not have credit at the resort or parks?
Hello! We are traveling to DW March 2010 and I had a pool question: We are staying at the GF - and the family we are traveling with are staying at the BC. Is it POSSIBLE - (I know - no pool hopping...) but was wondering if it was POSSIBLE for them to visit us one afternoon and visit our pool with us and vice-versa. We certainly wouldn't take advantage of this - and would only do it maybe once each - but do they check ID's for EVERY person entering the pool or just that at least one person has ID's?

Example: DH, DD8 and other DH and other DD8 enters pool area. THEN - a few minutes later - myself, DS14 and other DW and DD12 enters pool area together.

I know I know - it's naughty - but I just thought I'd ask.....

Thank you!

I read somewhere, don't remember where, that the slides at POR and POFQ were going to be under refurb this month and that you could use the slide at the sister resort (although both were said to be under refurb at the same time??). But I haven't seen anything about this since. Can anyone verify this info for me? We are to arrive at POFQ 11/19 and my DD6 has been looking forward to going down that slide since we decided on that resort!!

Thanks!

Solo At Boardwalk Inn?

I'm starting to plan for my solo trip in Dec. 2010. I will be using Disney Transportation the whole trip.

I figure two days minimum at Epcot, a day at DHS, MVMCP, a day at MK , part of a day at AK and I want to tour resorts.

I'm debating if I do get a code of staying at the Boardwalk since DH isn't interested in staying there.

Are the buses to MK and AK a problem - too many stops? Is there somewhere good nearby for a quick breakfast?

I figure I'd better research now so I can be ready to jump on it if I want to do it once the next group of discounts come out.

Thanks.

So, Make A Wish was able to get us into the CR :thewave: in a standard room. Needless to say, it'll be cozy with 3 adults and 2 children for 6 nights. We're close knit so that works! We want to use some of our fundraiser money to pay for concierge (or a suite with a parlor and separate bedroom) but there are no rooms available right now:cry:.

Anyway, I've seen some of ya'lls mad rhyming skills. Please help me out. I want to send a poem to the room assigner to enhance our luck. Here's the stats:

1 - Travel party - Lydia (5) the Make A Wish child, Luke (4) Lydia's brother, their parents and me (Aunt Shelly)

2 - Travel dates: 11/29 - 12/05

3 - Because this is the 1st WDW trip for the family, we could absolutely use the extra assistance from the concierge staff

4 - Make A Wish can't cover a dining plan, so the Concierge Lounge would be awesome

This is the family's 1st Disney vacation and according to the doctors, it will be their last with Lydia (but we realize God knows more than those docs!)
I'm doing everything I know to do to make this the PERFECT trip, but I'm no expert. Any of your opinions are welcome!

Praying for Lydia's miracle (check out her web page here Home Page (http://www.loveforlydia.com)),

This resort just really looks wonderful to me. This is our first time onsite. We're driving in. Our party is myself, my dh, dd (9) and dd (5). We are supposed to be booked for a Woods view room.

I've used the Disney Florist for my past trip and wasn't too thrilled with how they packaged my order and they were costly.

BLT is now open, right? Is it for DVC members only or can the rest of us unfortunate guests reserve there? Are all the rooms suites with a mini kitchen? Do you request BLT when you book or is there a chance of being assigned there when you book CR?

Sorry to go on and on. Just clueless.

This thread may seem a little odd but its an interesting idea I don't think anyone has asked this question on Passporter before. Its about how we think what would have been Walt's favorite hotel at WDW if he had lived.

What Disney hotel do you think Walt would've favored the most based on his personality and tastes. That answer in itself needs to be examined by an unbiased view of Disney. The man was not perfect however he built a multi-million dollar corporation, and made one of the top vacation destinations on the planet.

In case people want to know what Walt was like he was extremely opinionated, very conservative in today's standards of liberal and conservative views. Strongly pro-capitalism, pro America, was a perfectionist, was very demanding and only expected the best results. Was fascinated by several of the world's cultures. Very adventurous and was Theodore Roosevelt like conservationist when it came to mother nature.

I'm guessing if he was still living he would choose either Polynesian or Wilderness Lodge as his personal favorite.

So I upgraded to WL for the three nights.

I'm doing the happy dance!!:woot::woot::woot::woot::woot::woot::woot:

WL is my favorite place there and I wanted so much to celebrate my birthday and time with my daughter. This birthday is very special to me and now I can celebrate it with my lovely daughter in my favorite place.

Can you tell I'm excited?

I have the Cabins booked at Fort Wilderness for August. It looks like 2 adults from our party will not be able to come. That leaves myself and 2 kids ages 5 & 6. I'm considering changing resorts due to the fact that the cabins are a little pricey for my budget as I want to have the kids do different things like the one of the pirate adventures and the cooking with Alice at the Grand Floridian.

I did some comparing and have decided that if I need to switch resorts then I'll go with one of these:

1. Wilderness Lodge
2. Animal Kingdom Lodge
3. Caribbean Beach

I don't know which one to choose. These are all cheaper than the cabins. I know that I'm giving up a lot of space in a cabin but a room is fine for us too. Pricing is definitely a consideration but I'm looking for ease with the girls. The easier it is to get to the room after time is the park the better.

Which resort would you choose?

Please let me know how this works...

Question about AP rates - part 2

I read an earlier post about AP rates which brought up some additional questions about AP rates. I am thinking of getting AP's for myself and the Wonder Twins for next year. I saw the discounted rates for Oct 4 - Dec 24. Is there no discount AP rate for Dec25-31? So you are paying the rack rate Dec 25-31? The discounts for Oct4-Dec31 are 31-40% off, is that about average/normal for discount rates year around? I am thinking of going for a week in July 2010, a long weekend in late Sept or mid Oct, and then a week at Xmas 2010. Since we have the AP's maybe a HS Graduation trip in June 2011. I am trying to determine is I can afford 3-4 trips in one year. Is it possible to get Disney'd out? I don't think so but just checking.

Last Question (at least for this post). I read the you can only book 1 room per "adult" AP. Is this true? Since the Wonder Twins are 16 going on 17... mmm.... They would be 17 when we do all this traveling, can I book a room under their name since they would have an adult ticket? There would be at least another person over 18 in this extra room. Thinking we might bring additional family members/friends with us on some of these trips.

Any news of January resort discounts or info on Veteran discount?

I wonder if anyone has heard of any discounts for value resorts in January? I was just about to book 2 rooms at Pop Century with the 40% off Disney Visa promotion for that time period, and then I noticed that it does not inclue value resorts. Darn the luck! Since I need to reserve 2 rooms (1 for the grandparents), it gets pretty pricey!

So, I welcome any suggestions. We like to be in a Disney resort if my Dad (88 yrs old) needs to go back to the resort at anytime. That makes it easy for my mom (only in her 60s) to take him back via the transportation system. I wonder if my Dad would qualify for the Veteran's discount since he is a WWII veteran. In the past, you had to be active military, but I think I heard it might be expanded to our older vets. Anyone know?

Thanks!!

Hello all, our next trip isn't for quite awhile but we are getting the budget together so we can start saving now. We decided for our next trip we will do exactly what we want. One of those things is to stay in a Deluxe Resort, we're thinking Wilderness Lodge. We love the theme and proximity to MK. The other is Animal Kingdom Lodge as we will have young children who may enjoy the animals out the window. We hesitate because of the commute times to the other parks.

But we are curious for those who have done Deluxe and Moderate, is there that much of a difference? Last trip was at CBR and we loved it.

I always thought that some Disney Hotels and parks can increase their transportation options. I have some ideas feel free to share yours.

Ideas

1#Animal Kingdom Lodge should have a water way going into the park like a ferry that has been seen with Epcot and Boardwalk/Beach Club/Yacht Club. So people of that resort could simply get through that way.

2#The Monorail system can be expanded to MGM, and Animal Kingdom and Downtown Disney. Also connect to Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club/Yacht Club, it couldn't fit in Boardwalk so guests from that resort can just cross over to Beach Club/Yacht Club for the monorail.

3# Disney could get the hotels to have their own buses and not share with other resorts.

4# The Monorail track circling Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Contemporary can connect to the monorail going to Epcot instead of having to stop at the ticket center.

What ideas do you have per say.

I had booked Pop Century. Then changed our ressie to All Star Movies. The girls want to stay at the dog hotel. Pop has lady and the tramp, but I felt the 101 dalmation theme was better. I also liked the Movies pool better. Now DH said he thought that Pop looks cooler. I had originally picked Pop because of not sharing buses and everyone seems to like their food court. Help me make a decision!

I have never stayed anywhere other than Fort Wilderness - been going to WDW since I was 4 years old. Am so worried that I am going to hate POP. :(

Public Opinion .VS. Critics

Critics and regular Disney tourists have often contradicted each other on many issues. Here are the following.

1.AAA and Zagat have proclaimed Grand Floridian as the best hotel. However several public polls and websites have placed Animal Kingdom Lodge ahead of Grand Floridian on enough occasions to make it questionable if there is a disconnection between the public's views and critics.

2. Critics especially AAA often place Victoria and Alberts as best Disney fare. Disney themselves have rated it there best based on the price and how you expect to get the best meal because of how much you payed them. Though several regular Disney visitors on this and many other websites have debated that California Grill and Jiko's were just as good if not better for less than half the price of Victoria and Alberts 165 dollars per person policy. Note that those two restaurants are usually the runners up for critics choice at WDW.

3. Members of this website have often contradicted what the book Passporter says about its readers views. I read the book but often find some rides and restaurants can be rated lower or higher by users from a personal opinon than what the book says about the readers opinion. Although the book is fair and unbaised Passporter can't poll all of the hundreds of thousands of members it has so they have to make estimates. Alot of mathmatical thought goes into breaking it down so It's not very easy to know what this website thinks as a whole.

However I give them alot of credit for their efforts like any professional travel outlet. However the critics views from places such as Zagat, AAA, and Passporter have not always reflected the opinions of the Disney visitor.

I know the public has a long history of disagreeing with critics. So this should not be a surprise there are probably more WDW disagreements where that came from.

Best transportation Hotel Debate

After doing extensive research I have named the two best transportation hotels on Disney property. I haven't been to these two though it isn't as hard to figure out what hotel has the best transportation than personal favorite. Because it isn't based on taste its based on the geographical location of your hotel and access to other Disney Parks, and other on-site activities.

Two Best Hotels For Transportation

Beach Club

Polynesian

Polynesian Pros: Easy Monorail access to Magic Kingdom, and through the transportation center Epcot. Easy access to the offerings of Grand Floridian and Polynesian.

Cons: Sharing buses with Grand Floridian and Contemporary. This can be especially tedious when taking long drives to Animal Kingdom.

Beach Club Pros: Ferry access to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Also Beach Club is within walking distance to Epcot. From their you can take the Epcot monorail to the transportation center then to the Magic Kingdom. A walk away from Boardwalk and its sister resort Yacht Club .

Cons: Not any that I can think of let me know if there is any.

I choose Beach Club because of its access to Epcot not only for that park but the monorail you can use to get to the Magic Kingdom.

This thread asks for your opinion what do you think is the best of the two.

We were talking last night about stopping at WDW.......well, they both decided to take another week off and stay at WDW.........well, DD always wanted to go back to GF (we stayed there twice) and was all set to book it, but...........what about somewhere different.....She also loved Poly, but what about AK ?......DH and I are giving them the freedom to use our points (DVC members) as they wish. Which is better (we have never stayed at AK......we visited the park when it first opened but DH didn't like it....... so we've never been back) a savannah view or concierg ? Or maybe, even another resort.....DD has stayed at GF, Poly, BWV and OKW......so if not AK where.......she has time to decide so any suggestions would be great......rella :)

My daughter and I are celebrating my birthday the weekend after Thanksgiving. We planned on staying at POFQ but because of money, I've downgraded to POP. I've heard good things about it. Please tell me this is a good choice! We have a preferred room location. I know anywhere at Disney is wonderful but I'm a WL fan and I've gotten a bit spoiled.

Does POP have hair dryers, coffee makers and fridges in the room?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

We're trying to decide where to stay in 2010. I think we've narrowed it down to 2 rooms at CSR, or 1 room at the Polynesian. We've stayed at the Poly in 2008 and loved it, but with 3 kids we could really use the extra room. The price difference is about $450.00 to upgrade to the Poly. Being close to MK is a real plus too!

I am asking those of you who have stayed at the resorts with a car. Something happended to me this week that has me a bit peeved.

I checked in on Sunday for my three night stay at AKV - the gatehouse gives me a permit that is set to expire the next day; I get a new one when I check in (actually two, since the first girl forgot to give it to me and I had to go back again); the paper sat on my dash the whole time I was there.

Tuesday, I left early to drive over to DHS (finally got on TSM), went to the mall, then came back in the early afternoon to relax before going over to the kennel for my daily visit with Cedric. No cars were at the AKL gate, so I went on the left side by the guard, with my permit in view. I slowed down near to a stop so the woman could read it, but she made some motions with her arms, but I kept driving. Later, upon my return fromt he T&TC kennel, the guard asked me for my room key (I was once again going in on the left side instead of the side where you inset your key to open the gate). I had to take my key out and hold it up for him to see. Why?

Has this happend to anyone else? I did not experience this at BLT last month, and if I was going to experience this anywhere, it would be there!

PS: I posted this on another message board and felt that they were calling me lazy for using the left gate. Using those key card gates are a pain, since I usually have to open the door to reach (keep in mind I use them twice a week when i go to work at WDW).

Photo Description: During our trip in early November, 2008 we were able to watch the construction of the Gingerbread House. It took several days to construct the house with fresh gingerbread and icing. They often left out samples of broken gingerbread shingles.

Polynesian Club Level email address????

Does anyone have the email address for the Poly concierge?
I know I've seen it somewhere before, but I can't find it now that I need it.

I love the Poly, but I'm sad to say that their concierge IPO leaves a lot to be desired. When I stayed CL at Grand Floridian and even when I just made a CL res. for Wilderness Lodge, within a few days I was contacted by the resorts' concierge IPO. Not so with the Poly --- twice already.

I normally just make my ADRs myself, but since Oct 27 is the day I can made ADRs and I'll be in Disneyland, I'd rather have the Poly IPO take care of it for me.

Airline check-in @ resort

I just wanted to pass this tip because I was so trilled when I found out. We flew Delta down and United back home. Even though we had a laptop with us, we could print boarding passes for the flight home, so I wasn't going to do the online check-in for United. My mother told me to check with the Airline Check-in desk in the lobby to see if I could check in there or if that was only for the Magical Express guests. I could check in there plus, if I checked in my bags there as well, they would transport them to the airport and I didn't have to pay a baggage fee!!!! That saved us $45. It made it so much easier when we got to MCO, we dropped off the rental walked right to our gate.

She said they had contract with United so the guest didn't need to pay the baggage fee if they checked them in there. My mom read the sign and it applied to a hand full of airlines (the bigger airlines).:)

Reserved Pop Century - Rethinking HELP

My girls are part of a wedding the first weekend in December. WE booked Pop Century because we have never stayed there, price was right and liked the All Stars. I just found out that Pop Warner FB/Cheer tournament is in town the same time. The hotel is now booked solid. Would you recommend upgrading to a Moderate hotel for less crowd? THe parks close early at this time so we will spend more time at the hotel then summer months.
If so which ones?
Do you know the price difference per night?
Thanks. I have 13 & 9 year old girls.
