I will admit I got the email with the discount offer. But it came MONTHS ago -- like right after I booked. And I didn't preorder (because on our last trip, the discount code was only good for a couple of weeks -- so why would I preorder in Sept for a Dec trip.)
Anyway, I apparently didn't save that email because I can't find it anywhere in my email folders.
I called Photopass today and they said I can't preorder on the phone and they can't reissue the offer. I'm kicking myself because it really is my fault.
Grr! I can't justify full price for the photo CD, but was really hoping for the discount.
I preregistered the photopass card that came with my travel docs. I've heard that sometimes results in a discount -- when might that one show up?

Looking for those large Disney Pencils....

you know the kind. The long 12 to 18 inch ones that are so thick that they come with their own sharpener. We bought one for Abby last year that she loves but she mentioned to me tonight that we didn't buy any this year when we went. I was thinking with Christmas coming, these pencils from Disney World would make a great and surprising stocking stuffer for her. I just don't want to sound like an idiot though calling Disney Merchandising and trying to describe it, especially since I don't know if they have them this year or what designs they might have. So for anyone going in the near future, would anyone be willing to maybe get me an item number or UPC code from them or maybe even pictures so at least I'd have an idea of what to tell them? And is the Disney merchandise number in the sticky the correct one (407-363-6200)?? It doesn't seem right for some reason and I'm afraid to admit I'm too lazy tonight to search for it elsewhere.

TIA for anyone who's willing to help.

DD did her first pin trading in 2006.
I had my own trading lanyard at DLR in Feb -- mostly so I didn't hover over her and encourage her to trade for pins I wanted! IYKWIM!
DH has said he'd like a few pins to trade on our upcoming trip -- if we're going to, he wants to play too. But he wants to have a theme in mind.
I suggested villians, but he wasn't amused!;)
What are some "manly" pin themes you can suggest? He doesn't really have a favorite Disney character. I was going to suggest he look for "space" themed pins, but if it's a topic that's too hard to find it won't be as much fun for a beginner.

DD has a few pins that I don't think are "legit" traders -- though she did get them from CMs. They say Disney on the back, but aren't the same quality as the pins you buy in the park.
Anyway, we were thinking of taking them to WDW as "pass along" magic. You know how sometimes you see really little kids with pin lanyards. Or the preschoolers in their princess dresses. I think it would be nice for DD to give one of those kids a princess pin. Just to make their day.
Do you think that would be okay? Or should we just throw them away and take them out of circulation?

When we go to the world in May, Margo and I want to be able to charge on the KTTW card. Can we get different charging priviliges on each card or are both tied to the same account? We each want to use separate credit cards and don't want to co-mingle these funds.

I just saw these near the $1 section at my Target store.

Now... they weren't properly marked, but they were on the shelves where others items were $2.50 each. I'm not sure what they were priced at, but they are certainly appropriate for decorating a resort room -- they even have a little stand.

They came in green and white and blue.

They need to be fluffed, decorated and staged, but they were definitely nicer than the ones I saw at the Dollar Stores.

My boyfriend and I were at Disney in October. We saw two men wearing a watch that we can't find anywhere. We asked one of them where he got it and he just said it was a gift. It had a gold face with Mickey on it, and the band was a tannish/gold colored nylon. We looked in every store that carried watches in all of the parks and in Downtown Disney and never spotted one like it.

Does anyone know who made this watch and where I could find one?

Thanks!

We looked in every store that carried watches in all of the parks and in Downtown Disney and never spotted one like it.

Does anyone know who made this watch and where I could find one?

Thanks!
Amy

Hi everyone,

I'm relatively new to the forums but catching up fast, lol... We are taking our DD on her first trip to Disney in a couple weeks and it got me to thinking about things that would be fun to make a tradition for each trip.

My DH has a tradition of getting his hair cut with Michael the Barber on main street in the MK. He will go for sometimes months before the trip without a haircut just to wait for Michael. The one below is from our trip back in 2004 for the Red Sox World Series Parade (for our 5th wedding anniversary):

I have plenty more but not here on my work computer.

So, my question for you all is, what magical traditions do you have for your trips to Disney?

Time is ticking by and I have a problem with trying to "pre-order" a Photopass Photo CD!!!!!

I'm aware of the recent changes to the "pre-order" discount on the Photopass CD in that you now have to receive an e-mail with a link/discount code to be able to pre-order.

We are arriving on 30 NOV 09 and haven't received ANYTHING offering us the Photo CD discount as yet!!

We booked our vacation through Disney Travel (in the UK) and are staying at a Disney resort.

I've e-mailed the Photopass Website and they came back and basically said the discount e-mail is nothing to do with them and that I need to contact the Disney Travel Company as they are responsible for the discount e-mails.

I've just come off the phone to the Disney Travel Company and, guess what, the discount e-mail is nothing to do with them either?!?!?!?

Has anyone from the UK had any recent experience of pre-ordering a Photopass Photo CD? Does anyone have any suggestions as what I can do next?

I know it sounds a bit "Scrooge-like" scrambling to get a discount, but the way I look at it is every $ I can save like this is another $ I can spend on "real" stuff at WDW!!!

We had Minnie and Mickey all to ourselves for about 15 minutes. We have lots of pics of them on their hands and knees playing with our kids. We were also able to watch the second parade and holiday Wishes. DD5 and I rode the teacups...there were only six of us on the ride. DD5 and DH also walked onto Dumbo - literally.

We knew we'd likely never come to another MVMCP and wanted to make the most of it. I know lots of angry people stormed (no pun intended) guest relations. We were determined to have fun.

Haunted Mansion help

I need some help from a PP'r more creative than I.

DD is afraid to ride the Haunted Mansion.
I think she thinks she should be afraid, but for whatever reason, she really doesn't want to go. It's my SIL's favorite ride, and I'd like to do it as a family in Dec.

I thought that maybe if she gets a letter from the "head ghost" or some such character, inviting her to ride, she might go for it. I also thought that the letter could come with a HM pin -- as long as she's wearing it, she'll be safe. That kind of thing.

My SIL bought the pin on their last trip to WDW, so we're covered there.
But I can't come up with a letter that sounds like it comes from a HM ghost.
Anyone want to help?

It ended badly a few months back and she and I moved back home. She went through a lot. Wondering if anyone has done these and if its worth the $300 or so it costs.

This will be my first trip to Disney as well as the kids'. I'm so excited and have had a blast making plans the past 6 months. One little thing I did to add a little extra magic to the vacation for my kids was I bought them each a pair of special Disney PJs that I'm packing in my suitcase along with gift bags and ribbons. When we get to our rooms I will have DH and/or my parents give me a few minutes to set up the gifts in our room so the kids have a special gift from Mickey waiting for them. I can't wait for our vacation, I feel like a kid!! :D

Not sure if this is the right area to post this, but it does have to do with Making More Magic :)
I called the Cape May Cafe to order my cake (specially made) last Wednesday, was told that I would receive a phone call from the chef, and so far I haven't heard from them.
The CM who answered the phone did not sound enthusiastic about putting in a cake order. My trip is 12 days out, and if I am going to pay for a special cake to be made, I would like the chef to have enough time to make it. Should I call back? Does it take this long for someone to call us back?

I read somewhere that you could make advance reservations for a photo shoot at either one of the parks or one of the resorts for a family photo shoot. I looked on the photopass website and saw nothing about it. Can anyone help? Thank you!

Says you must be a Sam's Club member, only 1 wedding is for sale. It says go to Sam's website on Nov 18th to be the 1st to pay by wire transfer. Includes 50 guests and the Castle is the backdrop, David Tutera is the wedding planner. Also includes a reception, dessert party, portrait session and 4 nights at GF. How much you ask? $198, 000.

Ok, my first two are related...
I purchased our Annual Passes over the phone. I was given a code and told to go to Guest Relations to pick them up. Can I do this at any of the four parks? And, can I also purchase a TIW card when I pick up the APs?

My second set of questions are in reference to MVMCP. This is our first time. (We've always done MNSSHP in the past.) Can anyone tell me...
1) Where is Belle's Enchanted Christmas Story? Is it in her usual storytime spot? How long does this last?
2) How long is the'Twas the Night before Christmas show?
3) I was looking at last year's map, and saw several character spots. Is Snow White & her prince in her "usual" spot, between Fantasyland and Toon Town? Who is in the Judge's Test during MVMCP?
4) Where do I find Donald Duck during this party? (He's DH's fave!)
5) What time is the castle lighting ceremony?
6) Where is the best place to get great pics of the toy soldiers in the parade?

TIA!

Parade Etiquette

First of all, I must acknowledge that this thread was inspired by someone else's thread about whether or not you allow children to get in front of you at the parades.

What rules do you follow for parade etiquette?

Here are my basic rules (The ones I can think of at the moment anyway):

1. I try to get to my spot early so I can get a good space. If I don't then I will make do with what I can find.
2. If I am stuck behind a bunch of super tall people (5'4" here), then I will politely ask if my daughter can stand or sit in front of them. (Often the people I have asked will allow me to go in front of them as well.)
3. If there is a child behind me that cannot see around me, I will allow him or her to stand with my DD and I or stand/sit in front of us.
4. I try not to talk too loud or "OOOH" and "AAHHHH" so loud that it disturbs those around me. (I was at a local parade once and the people behind me were having a rather loud discussion of their previous night's antics. Some of which were not suitable for my then 6 year old to hear.)
5. I try to scrunch down or sit down if possible so those behind me can have a better view.

Are there any other etiquette rules you follow?

Got my travel docs yesterday (Yippee!)
In the packet was a photopass card. Do I have to preregister it to get the advance purchase deal?

I don't like that this card is paper -- I always liked the hard plastic ones. Have they gone to paper cards in the parks? Has anyone tried laminating the advance card?
Or I suppose I can preregister this card but have pics taken with a new card/account in the parks and link them. Right?

Disney Florist or not?

Last year I arranged for three "surprises" to be delivered to our hotel room from the Disney Florist web site.

On our arrival day we had the "Welcome to the Wonderful World of Disney" package which cost about $70 or so. This was "ok" as it had a few snacks in it, a pair of "Mickey hands" gloves (which get used by DD every now and then when she pretends to be a Cast Member!) a single use camera (which can't be processed anywhere in WDW it would appear!) and a set of "Mickey ears" which haven't been used. We told DD that Mickey had left this for her as a special welcome.

About mid way through our vacation we had the "Neverland Lullaby Treat" (about $80) which was nice. It had a Peter Pan story book, a couple of snacks, some cute little tins of assorted hot chocolates and two mugs marked with "wish" and "believe" (although, unfortunately the wording wasn't dishwasher safe and faded after a few washes!). We told DD that Tinker Bell had left this for her because she had been so good.

Towards the end of our vacation, just before we were about to return home, we had the "Mickey's Stocking of Surprises" (about $60) delivered before we came home from the park. DD thought this was great as we told her that Mickey & Minnnie had left this as a "goodbye" gift. This had a neat little Christmas stocking (which saw use back home on Christmas Eve) and a selection of treats etc.

I'm trying to decide what to do, if anything, this year?

The pacakges were nice, but I don't think they were really worth the cost, and there's nothing really that I can see that "wows" me from this year's selection of offerings. I don't want to buy the same things again, and I don't want to "do nothing".

What would you suggest? DD is going to be 5 just before we arrive. I don't want to spend silly money, but I don't mind a few $$$ on a bit of "extra magic" for DD. I know there are other options to Disney Florist but I'm undecided.

Over to you my fellow Passporters!!!!;)

Thanks so much !!!

Ever since we moved to Memphis we've been trying to move back home to FL. DH applied for a position near Orlando. It's so much closer to our families! I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high, but my gosh, the only thing that could be better is living back at the beach. DH's family lives just 50 miles away from WDW and mine are in Jax. It would be a major cut in pay though I believe it's so worth it just to be near our loved ones. Plus I have the only grandkids so far in my family and it's killing my parents.
This isn't my 1st time living far from home. It was a lot easier before I had kids. I'm still not used to this weather. I used to complain about it being hot in FL. Now my hats are off to all of you northerners. Brrrrr, I'm cold. I really can't imagine living further north. Everyone says I'll get used to it....maybe eventually enjoy it. I could see that if snow stayed on the ground. It seems like all it does here is rain. I guess being a surfer I just feel really land-locked here.
Anyway, in another year my youngest will start school and I could actually get back to work. Seriously thinking if we were so lucky to move to Orlando that maybe I could try to get on at WDW as a Garde Manger or Pastry Chef. Now that would be close to being my dream job. Who knows maybe one day ya'll could be enjoying something I've created.
Well, if it wasn't so cloudy out I'd even make a wish upon a star!

Hello, I'm mostly a lurker, I haven't much to add, subract, multiply, or divide! LOL,
My question is, have any of you decorated your resort rooms for Christmas? Staying at POFQ with 12 peep (yikes!) during the season, and I'm planning my room to be the designated Christmas stop. I plan on bringing hot cocoa with marshmallows, a tabletop tree with decorations, and homemade Christmas cookies (on the plane in carry on luggage-hope we don't hit turbulance!)
I kind of really want to go over the top. I've seen pics of the standard view rooms, but I can't tell really what the color scheme is (brown and gold?) I know I can mail some stuff to the resort in advance, but how early is too early, and how late is too late? I also have heard I can have a grocery delivery. Is there a limit to the number of packages I can mail/have delivered?
Please help, I know I am not a good passporter, so I apologise in advance for my lack of skills.:o
Thank you all in advance! Nonni

Hot on the heels of my previous post this morning about having an obsession with everything Disney ...I have a question about making some Disney T's.

Im going in January (solo) for my birthday and i'd like to make some princess or birthday themed t-shirts...im really looking for something cute and a conversation starter with the characters as I am going by myself....but I am fresh out of ideas!!

I was thinking something along the lines of "princess in training" (since im marrying my prince charming in Sept.) or something birthday related...any ideas would be soooo helpful!!!

Thanks a bunch!! :grouphug:

So last night when I got home from work I was preoccupied with cooking dinner, attending to DFi (who just had surgery on his arm a few days ago), and then we sat down to watch a movie (Land of the Lost - funny, but not Will Ferrell's finest hour) ANYWAY .... when the movie is over I look at the clock, 11:05 pm. It is at this point I actually think to myself "WOW I haven't thought about Disney stuff for like 3.5 hrs!"

I think I have a problem.

I just hope im not the only who thinks obsessively about their trip from the second they wake up to the moment they go to bed and dreams about it in between! :D

I got back today from a conference at WDW. There were 5,000 attendees and 1,500 hosting staff. The conference facilities were wonderful, but that's a different post. On Tuesday evening, EPCOT Future World was closed, and only opened to the conference. No one under 21 was allowed (not that I don't like kids, but it does lower the stress level when there are no parents freaking). Almost all of the rides were open. You walked in, there were sound systems and DJs playing. Cast Members had trays of beer, wine, pop and water that you could grab a drink off of. No lines! Just get on Soarin'!!! There were food stations all over the park. We went on the Living Seas ride and you know how at the end of the ride there are the aquariums? There were food stations and a bar and tables set up in the building to eat. All the free food and drink and rides without lines you could want! If I were to ask for the best EPCOT experience I could imagine, this would have been it.

Octoberfest Keg Tapping?

*Does anyone know if the Germany pavillion still does the Keg-Tapping ceremony? I can't find anything about it online that's current - all of the articles I've found aren't dated later than 2005. They used to do the tapping on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and it was a keg of Octoberfest brew shipped from Munich.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

MNSSHP 2009 frame?

Hi! The last few years when we have gone to MNSSHP, I have purchased the specially themed frame for the party. (it says Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween Party and the year and has some decoration) This year, however, I couldn't find one. :( I looked at MK during the party and DTD (especially the Christmas store and WoD), but no luck. I asked a lady at the Christmas store and she said she thought she remembered seeing one, but maybe they were out of them. I also have tried looking online with no luck. Obviously, I am coming to the conclusion that maybe they didn't make one for this year. I am hoping though maybe I just managed to miss it and someone else has seen one? If you have, please let me know where so I can try to call and order one!! :) TIA!!

I was perusing through the FreeBook (a PP ebook) and read about making a Mr. Potato Head postcard at Once Upon a Toy.

---Quote---
At Once Upon a Toy at Downtown Disney Marketplace, you can create a Potato Head postcard masterpiece on a touchscreen computer and print it out. On the back of the postcard is a list of questions about things you can see in the store. *Answer all the questions, take the card to a cast member, and you may receive a free toy.* (We imagine this offer could disappear at any time.) While you’re here, take a moment to get a photo with Mr. Potato Head—he’s posing outside the store, along with Buzz Lightyear.
---End Quote---
Does anyone know if they still do this?

I have just started listening to Disney parks music on live365. I had been looking for the music of main street on CD, but not really having any luck, but live 365 is a pretty good substitute, and many times, I've heard the Main street loop.

My question is about D-COT radio. I just got an email advertising this Disney radio station. I'd never heard of it before. Does anyone listen to it?
