Black Friday Deal at Old Navy - Lego Rock Band FREE!

Hey all, Old Navy is teaming up with Lego Rock Band for Black Friday. Wrist bands will be handing out at store opening (they have not told us how many per store, but it's usually around 100) and if you make a purchase of $20 or more you get Lego Rock Band FREE!!! We just found out about this deal at our store meeting the other night! I'm just bummed that employees are not eligible!! Also, as an added treat, the first few people in line will get a FREE guitar to go with the game! So cool!
I get to work at 3am on Black Friday so I'm sure I'll be the one out in front of our store putting on those wristbands!! :)

Where you live, do you pay a deposit on the soda/beer cans and bottles? We do in Mass and while I hate taking them back to the stores for the deposit, it is nice to get the cash for them.

I usually end up with around $7-$10. When I do. A friend of mine says she always has enough to get around $40.

What do you end up getting?

Non-Stop November

Once again, my sincerest apologies for not getting this out in time. Since moving, my time has been sent working on the house, working at my job, and then just working some more.

So onto to the rest of the month of November. Will it be non-stop savings or spendings for the month????? I know the bulk of my Christmas shopping will be this month and hubby and I are hoping the non-stop shopping at Home Depot will slow down. :)

Wishing you all a great month!!!! :luck:

I sort mine as I go. I have 4 of those popcorn buckets from Disney world and I put quarters in one, Dimes in another, Etc. I figure once they are full or maybe half full, I will then roll them and deposit them in the bank to pay on debt.

Do you sort as you go? or when your ready to roll?

I have decided I needed to get a part time job to help get rid of my debt. So I reapplied for the Disney store and will be working for them seasonally right now. If things work out I may get to stay permanent :)

I just went in tonight to fill out paperwork for the background check. I am hoping that what I make from this job will go strictly towards debt :)

We had a guest speaker at our church this afternoon who was really good. His focus was on how we manage the 90% of our money that we still have after tithing to the church.

When he talked about saving up for our dreams, he showed us a tool that he uses and that is available free on his website. For whatever he's saving for, he divides the price by the number of squares in the picture, then colors in a square each time he's saved that little bit of money towards the goal. This is something you can put on your refrigerator and involve the whole family in.

He had one for saving for Disney World, so I thought I'd share it. Here's the link to it on his website.

This is Suzy Q'Disney one of the Office Guides. This is a fun link. However Passporter is not endorsing this site or content. We do not advertise.

Visual reminders to help save money!

Does anyone use visual reminders to help save money? or to remind yourself why your working hard to pay off debt?

I have been thinking of doing exactly that. I purchased a Travel Africa magazine last weekend and I am now reading it. It is motivating me in wanting to pay off debt so I can start saving for my trip to Africa. I am thinking of cutting out a small picture from the magazine and wrapping my debit card in it. That way if I want to purchase something, I will see the picture so I can think twice if I really want the item or not.

Does anyone else do something like this? Does it work for you?

How carefully do you check your bills?

My ex paid all the utilities when we were together and when he left, I would just pay them, not really looking closely at them.

Last month, I finally called about a $9.95 charge I had been seeing and assumed was one of the kids buying something they shouldn't. It turned out it wasn't but a text that periodically came to my phone and I had most of my money refunded.

I switched to bundled cable and phone and knew I would have a high bill. When I looked carefully, I was charged for the same thing three time-That toook $35.00 off my bill.

I think I'll take a few minutes and examine all my bills now.

We drink lots of milk - about 4 to 6 gallons of skim and 2 to 3 gallons of chocolate a week, I believe.
Last night I found 1/2 gallons of skim on sale for $0.75. They were getting ready to expire - except some of them don't expire until the 30th and 31st. To us, that's plenty of time!

Do not bring your debit card or cash :smirk: I had a $10. coupon for the Yankee Candle that expired today. I figured I better get over to Yankee Candle so I can take advantage of it.

I was going to get something for my Sister for Christmas. You just had to spend $20. to be able to use it. I looked around for a bit and only found Christmas gifty things so headed over to Target to look for some Tights for my Halloween costume. I found some cheap tights and a few bags of Halloween candy and headed to the register.

I realized I had forgotten my debit card at home, so handed over my CC. After swiping my card the cashier told me it was expired. OPPS, forgot :o

I had to then tell him I left my other card at home and leave empty handed. Boy was I embarrased. In the parking lot I did realize I had my check book and turned around to head on back inside. Then realized my ID was with my debit card at home.

So if you want to save money, do just what I did, leave all forms of payment at home :)

yeah, such a wasted trip lol.

This week Jay and I cut up all of our credit cards except one to have incase of emergencies. We decided that if we cut them up we can't use them. We know that will work. Now it's just time to pay them all off and be credit card debt free. We are hoping to be paid off in 5 years. It's going to be hard but I know we can do it. How do you become credit card debt free? Any advice you can give us would be great.

Anyone do a Christmas Club ?

Every year at this time I say I am going to do a Christmas club next year so I have money for Christmas shopping. Of course Every year I don't join one.

I see Sears is doing one too now, though I don't do much shopping there, so would not be worth it for me. I am thinking next year I will join one at one of the banks here.

Anyone have one they use for Christmas shopping? Or have one for saving for your vacation instead?

Favorite Type of grocery card!

I find most grocery stores around here have 2 sizes of Cards. The credit card size and the smaller key chain type. I tend to use the key chain size and have them all together on a separate key chain.

I should probably keep with my keys, they probably would be easier to find lol.

What size do you tend to like? Do you keep the key chain size with your keys or on a seperate key chain?
