| Good Kid Story for once. DH and I went to the 2 youngests' Parent/Teacher conferences this AM. (these are the only 2 left in school - 3rd and 8th grades) We heard NOTHING bad!! Not a thing!! This is especially great for our Kathryn (the 8th grader) usually all we get from her instructors is that "she's such a smart girl, she should be doing better" and "She really needs to speak up and participate in class" (She's REALLY shy and hesitant - bullied in the 1-3rd grades so badly, it changed her personality) Nope, she participates, she's getting all As and Bs, she's lovely and insightful, and a perfect candidate for the International Bacclaurette program (with this, she can apply to any univeristy in the world, and she wants to go to University of Paris) Lauren is also doing wonderfully, with all Es and S+s (why can't they just give them As and Bs?) Her oonly problem is that she likes to talk. and it's not interfering with her school work, so the teachers are okay with it. Yeah!!! It's been a hard trek to get to TWO kids with good reports! (Kathryn was a C-D student most of last year - she just didn't want to try) |

| Re: Good Kid Story for once. I love your story and i hope they keep up the great work! I have two left in school too but for some reason, they have NEVER done the same thing, either one is good or one is in trouble, I can NEVER have BOTH being good not getting into trouble at the same time!!! Case in point, my DS (8th grade) brought home 3 f's on progress card. My DD who has been in sp ed all her life, is in her freshman year of high school (new big school) 1st time in all reg classes had 1 c and all a's & b's. Go figure. | Re: Good Kid Story for once. What a pleasure those meetings must have been today! My DD is a talker too....has been in trouble for it every year since she was in preschool (kept kids up at naptime talking to herself). I always say, if that's the worst she does...I'll take it. | Re: Good Kid Story for once. Glad to hear your girls are doing well. It sounds like your older DD has matured a lot. I never liked elementary school grades around here. We actually had something like C-U-P-I. I can't remember what they stood for other than C was Consistently and I would guess I was Inconsistently. In our system, I think it allowed grades to be based more on "effort" than straight learning. You should also be proud of yourself as a parent as kids don't do well in school without parental support. Diane |

| Re: Good Kid Story for once. Glad your dd's are both doing well. It's great to go to those and hear good things. What is it with elementary schools and the weird grades. My dd's school was a 1, 2, 3, 4 system. |
