Joan, I told Kevan we could call him Bubba and he promised not to spit in the truck. I have pictures but for some reason they will not download to Kevan's laptop, so I will have to post em when I get home.
I cannot believe how easy it was to get the kids up at 4:45 this morning! They were ready to go and we were on the road by 5:15.
It was a smooth journey and we made good time even on the back roads of Southern Arkansas- which are known for being soooo slow. We did stop at Dairy Queen for lunch and nixed the idea of the picnic as it was very, very hot and we really needed a chance to sit in a comfortable spot with a/c!
Matthew and Emily rode with Kevan for the most part and they looked sooo tiny up there in Yellow Monster. Katie got pretty agitated at times but all in all, the kids did really well for being in the car over 12 hours.
We crossed the Florida border at 5:30 and we honked horns, cheered and yelled. Fellow drivers must have thought we had lost our minds. Pulled into the hotel in Pensacola right at 6:00 pm. Kevan took the kids swimming while I got us Sonny's BBQ- little taste o heaven right there.
My landlord decided at the last minute to keep the washer she had originally said she would sell us, so we have a dryer but no washer. It may take us awhile to get one- so I am doing laundry in the hotel tonight, that way we can have a week or so worth of clean clothes.
We plan to get up again at 5:00 or so, that way we can get to the house in early afternoon and start unloading. Tomorrow our journey takes us through our old stopming grounds in Tallahassee (we have the FSU marching band CD ready to play) then on through Lake City, Ocala and coming in to Kissimmee.
I think our internet will be hooked up the 8th or 9th- so I'll be back in a few days.
That's so exciting! What an adventure. Safe travels for the rest of the way as well, andcan't wait to hear details of the final legs when you're hooked up again!
See, it's just takes the right frame of mind! Tell Bubba he's doing a great job. Especially the spittin part. Today should be a piece of cake, especially with the marching band CD to serendade you through!
