| Our Father's Day.... it wasn't bad, but I could use a do-over. Here's all that went wrong: 1. Step DD called to wish DH a Happy Father's Day on Saturday. BUT - she also reminded him that her b-day is in a week, and here's the number of her local Western Union so we can send her some money (for her 30th b-day) 2. Step-son is still not speaking to us, and that is really making DH hurt - he hasn't seen his grandkids since October. 3. Older DD didn't call to wish him a happy F-Day until almost 9pm, and then told us that she tried to call earlier. (uh, honey - might want to make sure we don't have a 300 call log on our phone, complete with numbers of attempting calls and who they from before you say you tried to call) 4. Youngest DD went to camp. After we had her all checked in, she barely even bothered to say "bye, see ya" before she ran off to be with her group (she's never been to camp before, and didn't know anyone there, but she didn't care!) 5. And this is more of a bummer from my stand-point. I arranged for DH and I to take SCUBA lessons as a gift for him. He's talked about doing it for years. I give him the papers, with the schedule of classes, and find out - he doesn't really want to do it! I didn't know that he has had dreams of drowning all of his life, and the idea of doing SCUBA scares him. The talk of doing it was a "Gee I'd love to do this because I'd like to face my fears but I just can't." What went right: 1. The gift that DDs picked out for him was very well recieved. They got him the Marvel Comics Scene It game. DH, Kathryn and I played it last night and we loved it. 2. Lauren went to camp, and didn't hang all over us and cry like some of the other girls were doing. 3. Four out of 5 of Dh's kids remembered to wish him a happy F-day. 4. It was a beautiful day out, and Lauren's camp was in the country - so we enjoyed the drive through one of the most gorgeous areas of Indiana. |

| Oh, I'm concentrating on the good. I was just disappointed that DH didn't REALLY want to take SCUBA lessons. I kind of want to, but I don't want to do it without him, plus I thought that for the first time in 18 years I had gotten him a great gift that wasn't jeans, underwear, or socks and that he'd like. I usually don't focus on the negative. I tend to be happy with what ever happens. |
