I'm a little closer to Dolly than Steffe is and our rain stopped about 30 minutes ago. But this morning it was really pouring. I keep sending good thoughts and pixies out towards all those in the affected area. And I have to admit, although I don't really care for our governor too much (yeah I voted for one of the other guys), he did do the smart thing and declare those counties that are in the path disaster areas BEFORE Dolly hit, so those people could get aid as soon as possible. According to the news last night, he had already mobilized the National Guard too and had them ready to head south to help. It seems he learned a lesson from Katrina and Rita.

you are definatly closer than i am......you guys keep your eyes open.....

and i think Perry did a good thing by activating the Guard......and declared 14 counties disaster areas so the help could start immediatly after if needed..... its good to know since its EARLY in hurricane season......and you and i are never really out of the woods once these things get into the gulf

Very true. Although my house is inland a bit more and situated on a hill, I still worry very much about my fiance and his family who live in Port Lavaca, right on the coast. I think Perry did a good thing too. I am kind of anxious to see exactly what lessons were learned from Katrina and Rita. I'm glad to see PROACTIVE steps were taken, rather than strictly reactive. Hopefully, the damage is not too bad.
