| *sigh* if it's not my mother, it's his...9yo needs pixies. again. MIL lives next door. A stone's throw. Sometimes I'd like to. 9yo (who has been doing some better) finished her work today and asked to go to Grandma's. Most of the time, I'm glad they are right there, my grandparents were clear across the Atlantic and halfway across America from me so I'm glad that DDs have them nearby to do Grandma and Grandpa stuff. FIL missed out on his own kids lives with his alcoholism, so it's great to see him being a wonderful Grandpa. So today, DD goes and comes home sooner than I expect to tell me that Grandma told her that girls her age 10, 11, 12yos, have babies and sometimes aren't married. It started a few days ago w/ Palin's pregnancy and I guess MIL ran with it today. OK, the child is 9yo. We have had brief discussions about the birds and bees, but I was waiting until we got past some of her anxiety issues and after her 10th birthday to get into details, with the counselor and psychiatrist's blessings. MIL knows this. I have VERY strong feelings about it. This afternoon, DD was completely unable to function b/c her stomach felt "strange". It felt like it had something IN IT. It's not right and she needs the doctor. Even after trying to explain without going into graphic detail that she has NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT, she is now obsessing. I was able to get her distracted long enough to pull off her "unThanksgiving" dinner party, but she moaned and groaned the whole time and is now asleep on the sofa (she's been sleeping in her bed since we got back from our trip) Hubby is going to talk to his mother tomorrow about what is and is NOT APPROPRIATE for her to discuss w/ DD right now. Please send pixies that it goes well...he's pretty well known for being rude and abrasive. Also please send pixies to DD. She told me (in hysterics) tonight that she has no control over her brain and she cannot change her thoughts, which is THE primary focus of her counseling. No matter what I did, said, nothing would convince her that she CAN think about something else. I'm at a loss. Again.

| *sigh*... grandmas are something else arent they? I had one grandmother that wanted to convince me that my daddy was wrong for making me and my mom live up here in Alaska and not down there with her in California and that if my parents could raise me in the real world and not in the woods I would be more of a girl. *gags* The one that I grew up around is obsessed over my weight, my looks, and the fact that I'm 23 and have never had a boyfriend... trust me I know your DD's pain! not sure how to help with the situation... so just sending *hugs* and s

| Well - that about takes the cake! I know you don't want to go into details with your DD, but maybe you can tell her that to have a baby in there, she has to kiss a boy like in the movies? Or, she needs to be sans clothing? If none of those have happened, then she's okay! Pixies to all of you - and good luck to your hubby with talking to his mom.

| I have told her over the years that to have a baby there has to be a mommy AND a daddy. Yesterday I reminded her of all that and since she's not married and doesn't have a boyfriend, it's impossible. BUT, this is the same child who is convinced she has meningitis, even though she has no risk factors or symptoms. Hubby flaked out this morning, but is going to talk to her tonight or tomorrow. thanks for the pixies!
