Whatever you do, do NOT open the refrigerator or freezer when you get back. Just drag it out to the curb. After Katrina there was a freezer full of shrimp in the garage at my parents' house and someone in my family opened it. That was definitely one of the most nauseating odors I have ever smelled, and there was no cleaning product that could get rid of it. Although it has dissipated some, you can still smell it even today.

Sending you continued prayers and pixies!

It must be a relief to know things aren't as bad as you'd feared. I can't imagine what you and the other victims of Ike are going through. The worst weather we ever have to deal with here are ice storms and lake-effect snow storms. But it doesn't take that long to recover from those, so my heart goes out to you all. that things are back to normal for you soon.
