| Just a frustrated vent..... My second home has been work lately-as probably everyone can attest as I don't get on here nearly as much as I'd like. I do probably 2-3 overtime shifts per 2 week schedule for the hospital on my own accord (i.e. it's not mandatory). Imagine my surprise tonight when the charge nurse calls and says "are you coming in at eleven?" Uhhh, NO!! Turns out (and I forgot about it since we were so busy) I had voiced an interest in working tonight and sent an e-mail to the manager but never officially signed up for it the way we do thru what's called Kronos timekeeper (on the computer). After the rough weekend I said forget it, I'm enjoying my only 2 days off this week-tonight and tomorrow. Luckily they don't need me at eleven, but there's a chance I'll be going in at 3AM for just four hours. I'm so mad at myself that I have vowed never again to send an email voicing an interest unless I'm 100% certain I'm going to do it. Besides, I know to officially sign up for the OT to do it via Kronos, not e-mail.....but silly me was saying I'm thinking about working Monday.......only I never sent another email saying forget it after the weekend we had!!     |

| Here's hoping for a quiet evening. I don't think that as a boss, I'd take an e-mail saying "I'm interested" to mean, "I'll work"

| I hope you get to sleep tonight! I used to take call from 11 pm to 7 am and I really grew to dread the nights I'd get called in!

| I hope it's a quiet night for you! I've done that with overtime before (not as a nurse, but a similar system) and I have kicked myself for doing it.....hopefully you'll be able to have a great night sleep!
