| Hug your Kids & Pixies for Others Well, tonight was not a good night for DS's JV football team. Two kids were out of the game with bad injuries. First injury was a star player was "speared" in his shoulder in the third quarter. Ended up with a seperated shoulder that the trainer took care of for the time being. But will probably be out for awhile. The second player hurt was the kid my son subs in and out with. SO that means it could have been my kid hurt. Early in the fourth quarter, one of our lineman was "cut blocked". The opposing player hit him in his left leg with his helmet. This resulted in a shattered fibula!!! He was taken away in an ambulance. Will find out more tomorrow night. The game was called at that point. We were ahead by >30 points. Makes you think a little more about "how" HS football is played. I love my son dearly and he loves the sport but are these injuries worth it? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

DS has already had a hairline fracture on his left ankle from what ER doc and Pedi thought was a sprained ankle. After a second sprain, Ortho found the fracture on an MRI after he played on it for 5 weeks!!!! (this was all 2 years ago, in rec league). He has played with heat exhaustion, sinus infection, severe bruised shoulder (couldn't hardly move), just plain pain everywhere. But keeps on trucking and refuses to stop. ***PS. His team, Lowndes HS, will be on ESPNU tonight at 8pm. will be at 8pm. Playing across town rivals, will be interesting to say the least. | |

| I am feeling very mixed about this!!! Its a shamed people get injured, but football and baseball are the great American games. But when your out for blood in high school something sure seems to be wrong there.

| We just buried a 15 year old a few weeks ago, killed in a local football game. Hard tackle and spleen ruptured. Died in surgery. ![]()
