| 5 yr old birthday party Please move this if I am in the wrong area. My DS is about to turn 5 & is into all things BOY - Power Rangers, Spiderman, Transformers. For his birthday party in Nov I have been inspired by WDW but I'm not sure if non-disney fans will "get it". We are having the party in a game room at our local bowling alley, they actually have a couple of amusement park type rides and games. All I will need to do is the cake, plates and goody bags. I was thinking about doing a Pirate party but then instead of goody bags giving the boys a pirate hat & eye patch and the girls will get a tiara & wand. So it would be Pirates & Princesses. So do you think this makes sense or will people be like "what is she thinking?" If this doesn't work I did see some pink skull & crossbones items on a party website.

| That sounds like a great idea to me. Most girls would probably like the tiara/wand better than the pink pirate. (At least mine would). Happy planning and Happy Birthday to your DS!

| Sounds fine to me. Most kids don't what they get at a party - as long as they walk away with something. And, parents will appreciate it's only a couple of things and not a bag full of stuff!!

| I think it's a great idea! I've seen pirate/princess themed party goods at local stores so I think the word is out and people will get it

| I think you'll be fine....we actually did this for DD5 last year (just vice versa -- she was having a princess party and gave pirate stuff out to the boys). The guests "got it" without much trouble at all. Go for it and have a great time!!!!

| Thanks for the input everyone. I don't know how the girls would feel about pirate stuff but I know my boys wouldn't want princess stuff
