Could I please have a few pixies for my DD - UPDATED in Post #37
DD has applied to four colleges and so far she has heard from two. Her last choice college she was accepted to and her second choice just came in today and she did not get in. She is so upset and now afraid that she won't get into her first choice or third choice. She is an average student, but she doesn't test well at all. I feel so bad for her and I am just praying that she gets into one of the other colleges. She really doesn't want to go to the last choice college and I am not really sure that I want her to go there either. How do you soften the blow for your kids? Maybe a few pixies would help. Thanks
She may still get in to more competitive schools. I was surprise that each of my children was rejected/waitlisted by a less competitve school. My DD was actually waitlisted by her last choice and a school that is much less competitive than where she is. She was told that the school probably waitlisted her becuase they didn't think she'd accept their admission and wanted to gauge her interest.
My biggest question is why she applied to some place she doesn't want to go. She can always look around for colleges with later deadlines and apply to a few more places. There are so many options, she should find a place that she really likes so long as she's realistic. I've gotten 3 in and 2 out of college so feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
Tell your DD is keep her chin up! When I was in HS my best friend applied to 10 schools and only got into 1 and she was a lot smarter than I was. I had decent grades and didn't really test well. I applied to 5 or 6 schools, and got into all of them except one I got waitlisted. Hopefully she will get into the college she wants!
