We have to request our vacation time in October for the following year and then it gets "approved" based on seniority. Once everyone has one week in "prime time" you might get lucky and get a second week. I've always been content to not want a second week, and to not take full weeks, just days here and there, so I have lots of vacation time built up. This year I actually took all my allotted time in weeks, but I still have some extra days. I found out yesterday the week of Labor day now has free hours and people can put in for vacation requests! So what was my first thought you ask? Hmm, DH annual pass expires on 9/17, if I can get the week of Labor Day off, maybe we can shoot down to Disney for a quicky 3 day vacation while it is still good!!
Put my request slip in yesterday! Now I'm just waiting to hear if it gets approved! And hoping for reasonable airfare so we can go!

Thought it might be a good idea to let DH in on the plan He is really excited about going! The only thing he is not too thrilled about is the heat, but he will deal. Now I am waiting to hear if I get approved. I'm on edge right now because I so badly want to book this trip right now! Torn between staying at a moderate, either Caribbean Beach or Coronado Springs (I've always wanted to stay here!), or using points and trying for a value room at AKL. I'm trying to save my points for Hawaii, so I will probably go for the Moderate and pay cash. Looks like I've already got it planned out in my head anyway! Guess I'll be working some extra hours at work the next couple months after all.
Well I heard from my boss yesterday. Based on our contract, I won't be able to get an answer until May 1st. I hope I can still get good airfare then. If the trip is meant to be it will happen! The other hard part is we won't know who our new manager will be as the one we have now is leaving in March. It shouldn't matter who the manager is, they have to grant the vacation based on contract rules, but if they are just coming in, I'm afraid it is something that might get "lost in the shuffle". So at this point, I wait...
