As some of you know I had lumbar surgery early January. 2 herniated disks pinching on a nerve. Since early October my right leg has been numb. Just started PT on Tuesday. While talking to therapist after the session, I told him my leg better be better by May b/c I was going to Disney. He said i had a goal to look forward too. I then asked his non Dr opion what he thought of going on the roller coasters. A 3 minute thrill ride could cause severe damage. Dr said I'm doing it at my own rick.
I'm going in September with hubby & son& again in December with just me & son. He likes the coasters. So it not all that bad. This trip was a friend & me. We booked it in September. We love all the coasters. Disney will always be there.
Thanks for all the counter service recommendations. I will keep these for September
Bummer. Sounds like it's a good decision though. There is so much to do and see you don't have to ride the coasters, but if that's what you love the most and what you and your friend would want to do, probably best to not tempt yourself!
Good luck on the rehab therapy.
If you can afford to go, you might want to rethink cancelling if you haven't already. I know the coasters are your favorite part, but there is so much you can do and see when you have to look at Disney from a different perspective! I had a difficult time this past January with a pain/numb leg/hip issue and couldn't do a lot of the things I normally do too. It was difficult at times for me emotionally, but at the same time I did a lot of things I never do while I am there!! Just something to think about. with your PT!
I have a cracked vertebrae impinging on a nerve in my back and also have some numbness in my left leg.The doctor told me I pretty much should be thinking of changing my career choice, if everything wasn't hard enough.I have been in physical therapy since October and out of work since Nov. 11 on workers comp. At this point the doctor has given me my first epidural injection. I went to WDW the day after my epidural injection which has had little effect. All I can say is that with the back injury a lot of rides become painful. I felt every bump 10x more on Dinosaur & Test Track. I would not do any coaster except Rock N Roller Coaster because that one goes so smooth. The trip was more of a challenge, before I could walk all day and not tire, this time I was exhausted. I have come to the conclusion I am done with some rides for my own health, but you come to appreciate what you can do more. Good luck with your back, but don't worry about what you can't do focus on what you can do. Sometimes people don't realize how much a back injury effects you physically & mentally. You have to think about what you do instead of doing things the way you always have. Just keep positive and focus on getting better, it's a long road ,but it's a path we must follow. You'll find a way to enjoy your trip even if you can't do it all.
thanks everyone. My friend won't get on the rides without me. We talked it over & since we love the Rc soo much we thought we would hold off. I still have till March to cancel. We have plans to do a 15 night cruise to Hawaii in November. My friend stated she would rather have me in better condition for this trip. We have looked forward to Hawaii for years. We will plan another trip to Disney.
