I second this. and you have to remember that you were not involved in a natural disaster, you are making a choice to move. It's not anyone elses responsibility to help you. Yes it would be nice, but that is a job that NO ONE wants to do, not even for themselves! If money is not an issue as you said, why not just hire movers and be done with it? It would be much simpler than getting all worked up and expecting people to drop everything in their lives, to help you in yours? It sounds like the job at hand might be a bit overwhelming for most. Like another person said, the most that most people can do to help is pray for you....that is the greatest gift of all, and some people don't even get THAT much. We need to all stop and be thankful for what we DO have and not dwell on what we don't. You have to understand that most people wouldn't think of packing you up and shipping you to Disney as an emergency situation. Slow down and take things one day at a time. I just lost my own mother last month and I know that nothing gets settled over night.

I will updated this regularly but in one post a day. It is 3 pm and not left. The gardener has work to do and promises to finish tonight. Everything is cleaned out except my office. The gardener started throwing everything out that was in the kitchen. I have a set of bowls that are 50 years old, got two but not sure if I got my spaghetti bowl, that hurt but cannot get anything back not even the broken Disneyland cup, lots of memories are lost, bet he threw out my grandmother's collander, cries. Mom and her saved blue chip stamps to buy stuff.

Realtor showed up and I put him to work emptying the drawers in the cabinet. Two had clothing and lots of knick knacks. He brought me a suitcase I asked him to bring. He is not good at packing so he asked what I wanted to eat. He went to In n Out with an envelope with my order. Is that THE Laurie? They remembered me, had lunch and am working on second cheeseburger. If need be I could leave as soon as I unplugged and boxed the computer, took my chair, finish packing a few items and dishes, pack the postal box thing, get the phone, and change clothes. I have one item and two steamer trunks to get also.

=======

I need to get out as soon as possible. I agreed on 10 days as of Saturday. I can push myself doing 500 plus miles a day but I want to stop and savor life. I want to stop in San Antonio for gluten free food, love them. I have never been to El Paso, Alabama, Louisiana, or Mississipi. I have never seen the Gulf of Mexico either. The reason I am pushing the move is because it will cost me $150 to $200 a day that I am late. Add finding a storage unit, unpacking and returning the truck means half a day to a whole day lost. I am starting day 5 and only have 4 or 5 days to get there now. If I get sick or if weather turns sour I could end up spending $2000 in late fees which could be used on a hotel at WDW for 30 to 40% more days. One day late is one night at CBR and 3 days late is equal to 4 nights at All Stars. or 6 nights off site.

hugs, will update when there is news.
keep sending pixie dust.
thanks for your concerns and hugs back to all of you.

Well said Dana! I think that's a great lesson for all of us. Life is too short, we need to remember to be thankful for what we have rather than dwelling on what we don't and look for the good and beautiful things in our lives rather than being weighed down by the bad. To every situation, no matter how grim, there's always a silver lining to be found.

Sending prayers and pixies that everything works out for the best, Laurie! Take care of yourself and, like Dana said, take things one day at a time.

And Dana, I'm so sorry about your mother. Pixies and prayers for you and your family as well!

Okay, so am I understanding this correctly? You are moving to WDW...like a hotel in WDW, not just Orlando?

I think laurie was using the cost of staying at Disneyworld to calculate the $$ being lost if she has the rental truck past the time it is rented for. She has mentioned that she plans to rent an apt or purchase a home once in Florida.
Sort of a " gee , I could have stayed in Disney for a week at the CBR with the money I put into this venture.

ah, that makes more sense. I thought she was planning on staying at WDW until she found a place to live.

Please keep in mind that houses do not automatically sell these days. It may be on the market for years. The economy is very poor.

Okay, yes that does make more sense. Forgive me, but I find a lot of all this confusing and just trying to make sense of it.
