Lousiana drivers are the meanest and baddest dudes on the road. People in Lousiana are very nice folks, just do not get near them in a car.

Louisiana reminds me of any roadside such as Indiana, Illinois, or Fresno then you start noticing ponds like at a golf course then water everywhere. Then you see flat waters some small and then there is that long series of bridege, do them bridges ever end. It si beautiful and strange to see forests setting in water with dead trees dotting the landscape. More pretty flowers,

I HATE BRIDGES so I freaked out on the bridge over Mississippi river, Got splinters in my leg from a tourist stop. You know you are in Louisiana as Texas uses 3 words on bridge signs while at Lousiana it is There may be ice on bridge during cold weather. 50 miles into the state you notice two things SIN and weird names. Apalo9oooookalfayetoka for example. Then comes the food advertisements for crawfish, cakes and chicken, waffles, waffles and chicken, etc. SIN as in adult bookstores and gentlemen clubs and casinos everywhere. Do not forget to stop on by and pet the baby alligator. Saw anarmadillo, he moved to slow and SPLAT was waiting to be someone's supper.

Am in Mississippi and again forest land, could be in Iowa for all I know.
Security wans no over night camping, egads I need sleep.

finger drained a second time and is much better.
603 miles to orlando and need a major nap

Take things easy Laurie. You'll be headed our way soon. Traffic through Atlanta is AWFUL. Be prepared. Seriously, it's worse than LA.

Enjoying following your journey. Continues safe travels. MaryAnn, I did a google map of her trip when I was surprised she was going through Houston (my directions had me go through it, too). she should be well south of Atlanta so that should make things easier.

Laurie, my son lives in Houston and I thought they had crazy drivers. I can't imagine what Louisiana drivers are like if they are worse!

If you're going the way that we did - sounds like it - be prepared for A LOT of bridges from here to Orlando. OMG! I am not a fan of bridges either, so I understand. Did the MS River at like 3 in the morning, horrifying, though I'm sure it was more terrifying in daylight!

you're making great time, good for you. I didn't like LA had "more sin" than some of the other states we were in... like California.

I have a lot of catching up to do so skipping rest of trip for now to inform you all of my plans.

1. Check into cheap hotel.
2. Get car off of her trailer.
3. Clean feet
4. Medical care, lots of peroxide.
5. Relax
6. Get back to my regular dining even if it is gluten free onion rings. I need to take control of my diet and not have so many sugar lows.
7. Get scooter into the car.
8. Internet access.

NEXT PHASE
1. empty car thoroughly of all the stuff.
2. empty front of truck completely
3. Wal-mart for underwear, pants, and lots of tote boxes.
4. Find maps
5. Sort all clothing into boxes: one for underwear, pants and tops; one for blankets; one for other linens; one for all other clothing.
6. Put everything into proper boxes and storage.
7. Put everything into storage other than medical, hygiene, and clothing. I can go back as needed for blankets or whatever.
8. Clean out tote bag and purse, EGADS

PHASE AFTER THAT
1. Find an apartment or hotel to live in
Once I have a permanant address I will have everything transferred to that address including disability checks and Eleanor's license. I have Eleanor so this makes hunting easier. What is important si for me to heal up from the trip, get organized, and be of sound mind to do a search properly. I need a lap top and phone to do research. I need the car cleaned out so I can bring home the wal mart items for storing stuff.

I am happy in this cheap hotel. As stands I have enough money to live in a cheap hotel for about 4 to 5 months and a cheap apartment for 8 to 12 months. Hotels have fridges and microwaves and free internet. I would love to have a home but at the same time I can only move so fast into a new apartment.

========================

UPDATE
not even posted and have update
I have a room at Knight's Inn for 3 nights.
I have internet access for now and a fridge and microwave.
I went to Raglan Road for onion rings, ham, mashed potatoes, greens/cabbage, and iced tea. Had fun there, Alan Delahunt is a top manager and he remembered me, spoils me. He and his team work hard to make food for all guests, nice guy.

As I was checking in I said I needed help unloading the car. A Russian immigrant said for $20 he would do it so I ended up giving him $40 which is one night in a room. He helped me get the car off her trailer and even checked the oil.

I took a nap and feel better. I am finishing up this site and there is a lot of reading to do. NAP TIME soon. Got clean clothes on and will work on medical and foot cleaning soon but am so sleepy. I could go to wal-mart but rather rest first, hurting big time.

FINGER: I cannot get it to finish its thing. It does not hurt now and got full feeling in it, Tip is red instead of purple and only a tiny bump remains. Now to work on seeing if I have any more Louisiana slivers in my right ankle.

Got ham in the fridge waiting for me for breakfast.

Sorry about the crazy Louisiana drivers! It seems like you passed pretty close to my home town! Those crazy names were Indian names. Our town is Opelousas and no one can ever pronounce it correctly. Yep La and Mississippi both have lots of water and bridges when passing along I 10. Lots of swamp lands!
Glad that you made it to Orlando

A manager went out of his way to help me at a restaurant in Beaumont, I think. I teased him about the nuts on my sundae. pea cans or pay cawns...
I love sweet tea. Those are not bridges but are causeways which seem not to bother me too much. It seems every mile there is a billboard that is Pro-Life in Florida.

I took two fragile items out of the car. DOH, I will have ham and surf internet for storage places in the area then take Eleanor there to sign contracts and find the unit then I will take Jack Jack the rental truck there to start unloading or will go get boxes, not sure. I got one sliver out but swear there are more, eventually they will come out. Feeling calmer and better but still need to work on medical needs, lots of boo boos and ouchies.

SIN = Lousiana was the one state with the most billboards and roadside places to gamble and get adult entertainment. Florida has Risque dining and entertainment billboards but that is one place.

List of dry communities by U.S. state - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I never realized there were so many dry counties.

There are lots of billboard limitations and some areas limit billboards to onsite only.

Lunch calls me, hugs and prayers for all of you.

Glad you got to Florida safe. You may want to look into a "by the month" residence hotel so you have time to get to know the area before you get into a long term lease at an apartment. Talk to people there & learn the good & bad areas to live. My niece had a apartment in Orlando & had her car broke into 3 times before she got out.
Good luck to you, Be safe & take care..
