A little background: DS (5 years old) is in Kindergarten in a self-contained K to Grade 2 class for students with Autism. DS had a rocky beginning of the school year...he missed 1 week of school when he was in the hospital for a MRSA infection and he had some difficulty adjusting to a bigger school and getting along with all his classmates. He is now doing great and we have even started mainstreaming him 1-2 hours per day with the "regular" kindergarten class.
A few weeks ago, we received a letter that DS was nominated by his teacher and selected as a Most Improved Student for his class based on his academic, behavioral, and social improvements since September. As a reward, DS got a free ticket to a local minor league baseball game that we are attending tonight (and he gets a free meal at the game). The Most Improved Students from his and other local schools will be recognized in an on-field ceremony prior to the game tonight.
I wanted to pass along a little good news (it seems like we need some recently). I am so proud of my little guy for all his hard work!
That is WONDERFUL and have an awesome time at the game tonight I know how rpoud you all are of your DS and how much work it must've taken for him. GREAT JOB!!!
