We don't have a dog but would like to get one eventually.
I have a 4 year old chihuahua named George. I got him from a friend of a friend last year. I had originally gotten him for my son and grandmother, but he latched onto me, so he's mine now. I love him to death, but he's soooooo high maintenance. I think that due to his breed though. He is blind in one eye due to an incident he had with one of our cats (that is no longer with us).
I do have to say though, if I were to get another dog, I would want a "real" dog. My George is so skittish and not very playful.
We have two beagles.
Our girl Bailey is almost 2 years old now. She's rather small for a beagle (she only weighs 18 pounds) but makes up for it by being very self-confident We got her as a puppy (she was 9 weeks old back then).
Our boy Jacky is 4 years old. He's a pretty tall beagle and weighs about 38 pounds. We just got him this past May through a beagle rescue organization. He is the sweetest dog and loves to cuddle! He was a bit shy at first but it didn't take long for him to realize how much he is wanted here!
I voted one dog because we have just one that lives at home with us (he is a miniature Australian Shepherd), but we also have 2 black labs that now live on my in-laws farm. When we moved a few years ago our new yard was just not big enough for them and they are much more happy on the farm. I miss them like crazy, but get to see them often when we visit.
This is Beckett:
This is a pic of one of our labs, his name is Diesel:
We have one dog, a three year old Black Lab named Isabella. She is like a child to me, I work from home most of the time so I get to spend all day with her.
I like other people's dogs. They are the best. I just don't want to own a pet because I know that most likely I would outlive my pet and that would just be too sad. I settle for enjoying my sister's dog Junebug.
Thanks for starting this thread, Sabine! You all have such wonderful dogs! I'm a dog-lover without a dog (none allowed where I live and for various reasons I can't move right now) but my neighborhood is very dog-friendly and I go to the nearby dog park for my fix frequently.
(Marci-- love the "hot dog" and also love seeing Louie in his superman cape again!!)
Here's Franklin, a basset hound. We've had him the longest. We got him as a puppy and he turned 10 in September. He loves everybody, and likes to tell you about it too.
Here's Amos, also a basset hound. He's the old man of our group coming in at 12 1/2 (ish) years old. We got him when he was 5 (ish) from Basset Hound Rescue of AL with his sweet brother Andy. Unfortunately, Andy passed away from kidney failure (poor guy had had heartworms TWICE before we got him) at age 7. Amos was super sad, but our other dogs helped him with the loss of Andy. Amos loves to sleep. He does so about 23.5 hours a day, and usually looks just like this. (tongue out, ear over face)
Here's Monster and Millie. Monster's a coonhound mix that took up residency on our porch when we lived in rural AL. He's about 5 1/2 yrs old. Millie is my new baby. She's an Irish Setter that we got from Save Our Setters, a rescue in TN. She just turned 2 in Sept. Monster and Millie are total BFFs and play all day.
I am having such a great time seeing/reading about everyone else's pups!! Great post!
We have one dog (and about a million cats) - a rescue named Sydney! She is a bit of a mutt. We think she is part Aussie Shepherd. She is about 40 lbs but tall. She is a lover and wants nothing more than to drop at your feet so you can scratch her belly! She even lets one of our cats sleep on her and knead her belly.

We have a 6 pound LhasaPoo named Sandy. She is all girl!! Sits with her legs crossed, won't play in the dirt/mud, hates getting wet. We have two cats and they are both bigger than her
