My DFiL Howard better known to all of us as Granddad is currently in the ER at our local hospital. He has been battling cancer for several years now. He had prostrate cancer 25 years ago that was successfully treated, but cancer returned a few years ago. Again he responded well to treatment, but the hormone therapy that was a part of the treatment hampered his ability to live a normal life, so back around the time Stefanie developed health issues, he quit in order to live normally. Since that time the cancer counts have gone up. He seemed in fair health at Thanksgiving, but has suffered since then with a sinus infection, no desire to eat, and a sore that won't heal on his leg. At the Matthews' Christmas he was very weak and needed a wheelchair. Matters have not gotten any better so he is in the ER tonight to get IVs as he hasn't eaten much and can't keep down what he has. My BiL figures he will be admitted, too.
Please send for him and also my DMiL who is trying so hard to be brave, but who is afraid of losing him. They have been married for 60 years. Luke and I could use some, too.
Cam, I'm so sorry. I know how much Granddad meant to Stefanie and how sad she was when he was ill.
I hope that by now, Granddad is doing better. My thoughts, pixies, and prayers are with you all right now.
