DD Kathryn applied to the DCP last night, for the 2nd time. For the 2nd time, she was turned down. We just do not understand it! This is a girl who is bi-lingual and speaks a third language well enough to get by, she LOVES Disney. Knows everything anyone asks her (no-one in the house will play any sort of Disney trivia with her anymore - once it's her turn, game's over). She's been to WDW so many times, we've lost count. We know it's been at least 30 times, if not more (and she's planning a trip next month with my mother).
She is devastated, to say the least. I am too - why can't the computer at Disney tell she's a wonderful young lady and would be just the type of person they need? Why don't they love her and think she's as wonderful as I do?
So - a question for those of you who have done or are doing the DCP or who are or were employed by Disney: Any advice? Should she go talk to someone next month while she's there? Who would she talk to? What could she do to improve her chances?
Thanks everyone!
It's a shame they don't give you any feedback, because this makes no sense to me, either! Everything you've ever said about your daughter makes her a perfect CP candidate. I wonder if it's something as simple as too many applications from one school or state-- even so, you'd think she'd be at the top of the list.
That's very surprising to me that she didn't get it! What may have been a factor is what specific programs she applied for. Certain roles simply have more openings available than others (quick service food & beverage, merchandise, attractions, and custodial are the 4 most common roles for CPs). Positions like photopass, entertainment, character attendant, etc have less open positions available and make acceptance more difficult. Also, it helps to apply for multiple positions. On my application, I must have checked off at last 6 or 7 roles.
As for who to talk to, I'm not really sure. Does she have contact information for her DCP college recruiter? He or she may be able to help give application/interviewing advice.

Thank you! I'll talk to her about what she applied for. Her DCP recruiter/representative has told her for months that she's the perfect applicant.
First, for your daughter that she gets some answers and gets in! Just a thought. I did not know they had recruiters, but when my son joined the Navy, there were some "challenges" with his recruiter. I can't go into detail, but 1 week before he was due to leave, they assigned him someone new, and due to the "challenges", he missed out on something important at boot camp. (The recruiter failed to do something not my son. ) Any way, maybe it has nothing to do with HER!
I talked to DD last night, and she applied for quite a few positions. She said the only things she said "No" to were housekeeping and character portrayal.
She did tell me she is on a FB page for applicants, etc. and some people there offered some light to the issue: The questions on the on-line application are opinion questions. The answers are pre-chosen and are something like "Strongly Agree, Agree, Neutral, Disagree, Strongly Disagree." Well, Kathryn doesn't like to 'hurt' other people's feelings, and always feels there are exceptions to everything. So, nothing is a strongly agree or a strongly disagree. ie: If the question were: Stealing is wrong and should be punished, Kathryn would answer "Agree". She would not "Strongly Agree" because, what if the person caught stealing were stealing food for his/her children? What if it was a person stealing clothes so they could go on a job interview and then be able to pay for their clothes?
Evidently, there is a number she can call and find out more. She plans to do that later in the week (the times the 'office' is open are not convenient to her).
