Getting rid of a wart...

Anyone know of any non-medical, non-Compound W, homeopathic sort of ways to get rid of a wart?
I have suddenly developed an icky wart on the inside of my big toe (between the big toe & the next toe).
Thanks!

Re: Getting rid of a wart...

My sister, who has always had a problem with warts told me a while ago that her dermatologist said that duct tape works as good as any of those other remedies. I don't know how long you're supposed to use it, but he said it works. I guess you just cut it to size, put it on after you bathe, leave it on until you bathe again. Worth a try, I'd say. I'll have to check with her to see if she's tried it.

Re: Getting rid of a wart...

I'm not sure if this would work for you or not, but I had a terrible plantar wart on the ball of my foot for a couple of years. I tried everything -- Compound W, the doctor freezing it with liquid nitrogen numerous painful times, I even went so far as to have lazer surgery on the stupid thing. It always returned. One day I was reading some self-improvement type book and it mentioned about how strong the power of the mind is. It told of an example of a woman who had a persistent plantar wart, who received a daily placebo and within a week or so the wart was gone. I figured that if it worked because she thought it would, that I could give it a shot. I knew a placebo would be useless because I would have known it was a placebo, so I just decided to tell myself that my wart was shrinking away and would disappear. Guess what happened? Yep. It was gone within a week and I have been wart-free for 14 years. I know, I know, cue the music from the Twilight Zone. But that's the cure that really did work for me.

<font size="2" face="Comic Sans MS, Arial">I read about this on-line somewhere. There is some chemical in the duct tape that will reduce and remove warts. Not sure on the details, but I've heard it works!

Re: Getting rid of a wart...

I have one in my mouth of all places!! I had one once before in there (no one has any idea of why) and I had it surgically removed. I would like to avoid that path on this one....maybe the placebo effect will work, I sure hope so!

Re: Getting rid of a wart...

I had one when I was about 12 on my finger and had the nitrogen thing done- but low and behold it never came back.

I have also heard the duck tape thing- are you going to try it? I wish my mom had heard it so I didn't have to go through that nitrogen procedure- it wasn't torture but it sure wasn't a walk in the park either!

Re: Getting rid of a wart...

I work for a podiatrist. She often tells people to use duct tape when all other methods have failed. It usually works. Good luck!

Duct tape? MacGyver would be proud.

My mom tells the story of her grandfather rubbed something on her wart (on her hand) and buried it in the yard. It went away and never came back. (Donna, there's the power of the mind for you.)
