| The concept of Time and the Four Year Old mind My youngest child, Rachel, 4 has started pre-school. The pre-school has a before school program. My daughter's teacher usually arrives at 8:00am and takes them from the playroom to the classroom. Since I bring Rachel at 8:00 we usually meet the teacher and Rachel doesn't have to go into the playroom (Rachel is a bit shy and is nervous about all the activity going on in this room), but yesterday I had to take her a little earlier. I went in with her and tried to introduce her to a few other children, but when she spotted all the books, she parked herself on a beanbag and was quite content with ALL those books. When I picked her up that afternoon, I asked her if her teacher came in right after I left. She said "My teacher came in a few YEARS after you left mommy!" KIDS, Gotta love 'em! |

| Re: The concept of Time and the Four Year Old mind My girls had a hard time grasping length of time until one day my oldest asked "Mom, how many Cosby Shows until we go the Fair?" she finally found something (a half hour sitcom) that she could relate to in terms of length of time. From then on, we would have to answer "We'll leave in 4 Cosby's". |
