DD will have to have surgery soon ;-( We had the appt today with the pediatric opthamalogist for billateral blocked tear ducts. Well, we will be scheduling surgery to clear them in within the next week. The lady who schedules was out of hte office today and will hopefully get back to us asap. DD will have to be put under and of course, that would worry any parent. So, hopefully the surgery goes well, and it's easy to take care of. If he gets in there and finds it's a structural thing, then more would ahve to be done. He doesn't think it is structural just because this is a recent problem and hasn't had it since birth. Also, he checked her eyes and discovered she is already nearsighted (like her mommy) and will need glasses in the next few years. I'm really bummed about it as I was so hoping she'd take after her daddy with his perfect vision. We hope she can wait a while before the glasses, but will have to watch closely for signs of poor vision. On the brighter note, we are all feeling a bit better today. Not healthy, but better than yesterday. Let's hope that continues.

Re: DD will have to have surgery soon ;-( Perfect vision is overrated. I'm all for your beautiful daughter's health! Hope all works out and that all will be successfully remedied. Surgery sounds so intimidating on someone so little! I'm sure she'll come out all the better! Forwarding all the best your family deserves. ![]()

Re: DD will have to have surgery soon ;-( Bless little Arianna and you too Denise. I had blocked tearducts too when I was little, my Mum was offered surgery for me but she declined as she was told there was a possiblility that I would grow out of it. It did take a couple of years though and I couldn't open my eyes in the mornings until my Mum bathed them with warm water, not particularily pleasant . My Mum's friends little girl had the surgery and she was absolutely fine, I'm sure your little one will be fine too .Karen
