A gift for my parents Hello! I am posting this message in this forum because it has to do with my parents. We are all going on a vacation this June to the NC coast to celebrate my parents' 30th anniversary, which is in April. My sister and I would like to put a big beach bag together for them, complete with vacation essentials. What kinds of things can we put in the bag to make it fun for them? My parents never get to go on vacation (3 trips in 30 years), so we would like to make things as extra-nice as possible. I am going to start accumulating things soon to spread the expense out a bit. Any thoughts on some fun things to put in a beach bag would be much appreciated!! ![]()

Re: A gift for my parents I'll have to give some thought to what to put in there Jen, but I think that is a terrific idea!! What a cool thing to do and what a great daughter your parents have!! What kinds of things do your parents like to do?? Maybe one thing could be a guide of the area you are going to! I will definitely keep thinking!

Re: A gift for my parents Maybe some guidebooks to the area. Or maybe find out if there is a great restaurant in the area that they may like and see if you can get them a gift certificate there. Or make up a picnic basket for a beach/wine anniversary night on the beach. Sounds like a great time!

Re: A gift for my parents A cooler, some sunscreen, some hats, disposable cameras (waterproof - of course), a couple of really nice books that you think may interest them, shades, a beach umbrella, binoculars, a metal detector, anything that you can think of YOU might use at a beach.

Re: A gift for my parents Any books you can find on the local area, or day trips near where you are. Always interesting to learn more about where you are! If they already have a camera they like/use -- get supplies for that, or gift certificates for developing when they get home, so they don't have to worry about that! If they don't have a camera - get them some disposable ones. Make sure people get plenty of pictures of them together! A local cookbook, or locally produced goodies - (although these can't be gotten too far ahead!)

Re: A gift for my parents How active are your parents? I would include a few fun items like a beach ball, a couple of small buckets and shovels, and a water spray bottle (good for moistening sand while building and good for misting faces on a hot day too!) if they would enjoy that kind of thing.
