Trouble in Paradise (UPDATE....good news) I think I am just meant to stay single forever!! * sigh * Darrel and I had our awesome date on Sunday and had breakfast together Monday morning. All was well when he left, although he said he had a bit of a headache. We talked a couple of times on Monday and things seemed fine. Tuesday morning I called him and he called him on my way to work. We only talked for a few minutes because he had to go (he was at work). He told me he would call me at lunch. He also mentioned he was not feeling well and might leave work early. There was no phone call at lunch so I called him about 15 minutes before lunch ended. He didn’t return my call. At this point I was getting a bit worried, I called again at 3 and again at 5…still nothing. Finally at 6:00 he called me and let me know he was just pulling in his driveway and would call me the next day, we didn’t even talk for 5 minutes and he basically hung up on me. I was a bit miffed and called him back…saying, “I am feeling a bit pushed aside.” He called me right back and I explained to him my fears. I have had MANY guys leave me because I need a lot of emotional support. I cannot even tell you how many guys I have scared away by just being me….scared of being abandoned. It isn’t something I can turn on and turn of (GOD KNOWS I wish I could) even after years of counseling I can’t shake it. I think it is just going to take the right guy with A LOT of patients to help me sort this out. I know it is a lot to ask (especially in a new relationship). I just got an e-mail from Darrel: “Hey, I have a lot to tell you o I will try to call tonight. I am really feeling sick so I may jusy go home again and sleep... I dont know right now... If you dont hear from me I will call you tomorrow sometime.... not sure when but during the day... we have a LOT to discuss....” Now I am scared….that sounds like the standard “we need to talk, (so I can break-up with you) letter). Please send me some pixies…I really need it. This is totally tearing me apart!

Re: Trouble in Paradise Sorry to read this, Robin. He sounds like he's from my town, are you sure he's not a musician. Much dust your way.

Re: Trouble in Paradise Don't worry yet. Maybe he really just doesn't feel well My DH totally shuts down emotionally when he's sick. I end up taking it personally, and then when he's better he's back to his old self again.

| Re: Trouble in Paradise I think we are kindred spirits. I was reading your post and it all sounds like dejavu to me. I've put myself through this so many times. You can only be honest, though, and it sounds like you are. I don't want to be dangerously optimistic, but it honestly sounds like he wants to talk. Otherwise, he'd probably just avoid you. And a breakup wouldn't be a long conversation so let's hope that having "a LOT" to talk about means working some things out. Hang in there. | Re: Trouble in Paradise Sending you Right now I'd just take it as what he's said and not try to read between the lines. He could just be feeling really lousy -- remember guys are a smidge wimpier than women when they are sick! |

Re: Trouble in Paradise Hang in there Robin. Things will work out for the best. My friends always tell me that I keep getting better the longer I stay single, so I figure God's just having a hard time finding a guy good enough for me! I know there is a "right guy" out there for both of us, and I'll keep praying that we both find them quickly. Karen
