I can\'t belive Work!!!!

Just take a look at this and tell me what you think. I already know How I am voteing but I want to see how you would vote if it was your job.

Lunch/Break Proposal

An alternative break schedule has been proposed that may appeal to our valued employees. The proposal envisions an 8-hour shift that lasts only 8 hours. Instead of the current break/lunch schedule, this plan would include 2 paid breaks (20 minutes and 15 minutes) and no unpaid lunch break. Thus a 7am to 3:30pm shift becomes 7am to 3pm. Please think about this proposal and its affects over the weekend and share your opinion with us on Monday.
Remember: This is your choice. The benefits include:

• Shorter work day
• Longer paid breaks
• No missed-punch worries from lunch
• Day goes by faster
• One less shutdown/startup saves the company productivity

Please vote below and turn into the security guard on Monday, March 6th, 2006

Please check your vote!

Proposed break structure: 8 hour day with 15 minute paid break and 20 minute paid lunch

Current break structure: 8.5 hour day with two paid 15 minute breaks and 30 minute unpaid lunch

Either option is fine

Sounds good to me! I think getting out that half hour early everyday is worth it.

Re: I can\'t belive Work!!!!

I am all for a shorter work day but cutting out a lunch break? I think I would have to stick with having a lunch break...i would rather get rid of the breaks and have a paid lunch.

Re: I can\'t belive Work!!!!

I'd skip the lunch and use the 20 minute break to eat.

Re: I can\'t belive Work!!!!

If your worked at a desk the new option would be good, but for someone on their feet all day, I think I'd stick with the old schedule and have more breaks.

Re: I can\'t belive Work!!!!

Question, do you have to use your paid breaks to use the bathroom? Working 8 hours and only having 15 and then 20 minutes to try and scarf down some nurishment AND have some bathroom time might be tough. I like the idea of going home early but I'm not so sure I'd like this plan.

Re: I can\'t belive Work!!!!

for me it sounds like the ol' American work 'em til they drop work ethic. I think people need breaks and lunches (I know DH's stress level would go thru the roof if he had no lunch break). you know in other countries they get paid holidays almost once a month and much longer times for paid vacatons and such.
i would definitely keep my lunch break and take it somewhere away from my desk.

We are allowed to run to the bathroom when needed but i work in a DC for a store and it is well basicly a concret cave, Very cold in winter and relly hot in the summer. The 30 min lunch is very much need in the summer to cool down. We only have 4 microwaves and heating stuff up is always hard. we could not leave the property so no more running for food. I am voteing No This new way would only benifite the company not us. But it's very intresting to hear what you think.
