Good counter service or semi cheap table service?

I was go to get the dining plan on my trip in aug, however the couple my boyfriend and i were going with backed out and now we can't afford it. We will have to eat mostly at counter service. I think we will be able to eat at alfredo's since we can get the appetizer portion of the fett. alfredo so it would be cheaper. Does anyone know of any other table service restaurants that are like this or some good counter service restaurants?

When are you going in August? If your trip begins on Aug. 26, you could get "free" dining since Disney is offering a special deal.

You can actually eat at any Table Service restaurant and order just appetizers and dessert. You aren't obligated to purchase a entree!!

BTW - Welcome to the boards

Can't you share entrees in TS restuarants too??????

There was a poster who asked not too long ago for suggestions for CS meals that she could share with her BF. Maybe find that thread...it was pretty interesting!

We loved the counter service in Tomorrowland (can't remember the name)- it was huge. A very nice burger fixings bar and wonderful portions.

I too think sharing might be the best way at the TS restaurants. Most the time portions are huge.

I would definitly go on Aug 26th and take advantage of the free dining promo. But if you can't go at that time, share a pizza at Pizza planet in MGM. Eat at Cosmic Rays in MK, they have a great selection for a CS and some of the stuff is pretty big. At AK, Tusker House has a halfchicken combo that's easily a 2 person meal (also cs). In Epcot, the cantina de sanangel (cs) has fantastic food that's pretty cheap. Likee I said before, the free dining starts Aug 26th, and even if you were only planning to go for 3 or 4 nights, it may be cheaper to add nights to your stay to enjoy free dining, than it would be to try to eat cheap not on the plan. Check it out on Disneyworld.com

I would mostly plan on counter service. One suggestion is Cantina de San Angel in Mexico. The meals there are enormous and could easily be shared between two people. You'd have the benefit of sharing and the benefit of CS prices, too!

If you like sandwiches, the Plaza restaurant is a good table service place to split. I had the Club Sandwich and subbed fries for the potato salad, and it was plenty for two people. Each half of the sandwich was like the size of a regular sandwich you'd make at home, and it was delish!!!

Most TS restaurants have huge appetizers -- like the mussels at Le Cellier, the Shrimp at Citricos, the mushrooms at R&C...could go on and on. Another really nice CS is Columbia Harbor Hous in the MK, especially if you opt for the upstairs dining room. If you can't change your dates to fit the free dining, I would check out the menus and I'd bet you'd find lots of appetizers or entrees you could share at good TS spots. Whatever you do...have a great trip!
