Me, a pack rat? What kind of person would have a Mickey Bar wrapper hanging around?
Well I did anyway, in my classroom. However, over Spring Break they put new bulletin boards in my room to match the new white boards that I can't reach (Yes the teacher is to short to write on the boards without having to stand on a chair). When they took down the old boards they threw away my Mickey Bar wrappers that I decorated my board with. (At least they saved my pictures!)
Now I have boring white bulletin boards with no Mickey Bar wrappers.
Sorry I can't help you. They do have sugar free ice cream at several of the ice cream shops! |

| Re: Mickey Mouse Bars I'm betting Fortissimo has a wrapper hanging around somewhere! I can't remember off the top of my head if the nutrition info was printed on the wrapper, though.
I sure hope it fits into your daughter's diet.

| Re: Mickey Mouse Bars Ahem!
Attention!
I willingly sacrificed and ate a Mickey Bar at lunch today to bring home said wrapper with information.
The answer is...
17 Carbohydrates (10g of Sugars)
Fortissimo-
Let me know if I need to start sending wrappers to you to re-paper your board!

| Re: Mickey Mouse Bars Thanks for all your help.
15 grams of a carb equals one exchange.
A lot of people are misinformed about Diabetes and sugar.
Sometimes "sugar free" still has almost as many carbs as the regular version.
Counting carbs are the practice, since the sugars are figured into it.
Something "sugar free" could raise her blood sugar very high.
Thanks again,
Brenda

I wasn't supposed to tell anyone that!
Ummm...Oh! Sorry! Nothing to see here, folks!....Just keep moving right along...That's right! No Mickey Bars here!...No, you must have been misinformed! Try one state south of us!......
Actually, I teach, and we can get them in the lunch room!
Fortissimo, I'd offer to try and get you a position here, but since you're building a new house and all...

How does your school get Mickey Bars? I wonder if I can file a grievance over not having Mickey Bars in the lunchroom! |

BTW, Brenda-I have a question!
I'm having the K-3 principal over for dinner, and she's diabetic. We were planning a menu of steak, salad, and corn on the cob. What can most diabetics have/not have? Also-any suggestions for dessert?
Thanks!
Kimber

Steak is protein-No carbs
Salad is Veg-No carbs (croutons add carbs)
Corn is a starchy vegetable and is a carb.
You may also want to offer fruit juice (4 oz. is one exchange)
or potatoes (carb)
Milk is a carb also.
Diet soda or water may be offered
Diabetics individually know what they can have in their meal plan which coincides with their medication.
Just about anything can be fit into a meal plan.
This sounds great, and your guest will count their own carbs.
Sugar free JELLO is a free food. (Which means it can be eaten whenever.
If you offer a couple of different (carb) choices, it might make it easier for your guest.
Also an important reminder....Diabetics are at high risk for heart disease (among other things). This means low fat and salt.
It wouldn't hurt to give your guest a call.
Also make sure the time is OK in case she is on a scheduled meal plan.
Hope this helps.
My DD is 11 and has Type 1 Diabetes (the worst one )

My Principal has actually become a very good friend...so good that she waved her hand and said,"Whatever you fix is fine. What I can't eat I won't!" While I appreciated it, she *is* the guest of honor, and I want fix foods she can eat!!
Thanks again!!

Tikibird, according to Fortissimo, the Mickey Bar is the best!!! I finally had my first one this past January when down with my husband... probably would have had another but it was cold down there!
YES YOU MUST TRY IT......... at least one!!!
June would be a PERFECT month to enjoy a dozen or so...... |
