Kona Cafe for lunch without ADR?

After taking a look at the rave reviews for Kona, I was thinking that maybe we would eat there the day that we arrive in December. I actually have a dinner ADR for LTT that I guess I could switch to Kona, but I know that we're going to want to eat an early afternoon lunch. Do you think that we could walk in for lunch on a Sunday without an ADR, or should I make one? We're staying at the Poly, so it would certainly be convenient to eat there! Thanks for your thoughts!

If you know which day you want to go there for lunch and a rough time, I'd make an ADR. Better safe than sorry!

Makes sense. I'll go ahead and do that. I was just afraid that with flying and all, we could possibly be delayed. I guess I can always cancel the ADR if for some reason we can't make it. Thanks very much!

We walked up in April without an ADR, and got in no problem for the three of us at Kona Cafe.

I think any more it's important to make the ADR's and then cancel them if it turns out you can't make it.

I would agree with it wouldn't hurt to make the ADR...However, we decided last minute, on a Saturday, Christmas week last year to go to Kona for lunch, and were able to get an ADR that day. And when we got there early, we were seated immediately...Not crowded at all...and well, well worth it. The food and service were excellent.

We had no problems getting a table at Kona without an ADR during free dining last year. I find lunchtime reservations too inflexible and would prefer to walk up and take my chances.

I've never seen the Kona Cafe full at lunch.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your input. Last year we arrived around noon and went to grab some lunch pretty much right away. We'll probably do the same this year, but I'm just not 100% sure exactly what time that might be. I figured that since we're staying at the Poly, and since we're already loaded up with great dinner ADRs that don't include Kona, lunch on arrival might be a good time to try it. We have a 5:45 ADR at LTT that day that we could always switch to Kona, but I thought that LTT would be a fun one and I'm a little reluctant to change it. There are just too many great choices at WDW!! I'm going crazy...

I would call and check as soon as you get there - or even on your way if you have a rough estimate of the time - that way, if you can't get in (for some strange reason) you can begin to formulate your next plan - or sometimes the Dining Reservation people are very helpful in helping you find a nearby alternative.

Keep your ADR at LTT. It's one of the best WDW restaurants

We love LTT. Nothing fancy, but good comfort food with great character interaction. It is a must-do for us every trip.
